Since the series isn't romance, it's hard to say since it isn't focused on. They certainly have affection for each other and it's very subtle.

In the end, Author has left the choice to the readers to decide their relationship. It's up to you to choose whether it's a romantic relationship based in love or a sibling relationship based on care, affection and duty to look after the sister of his deceased best friend.
