When I was a child we only had three television stations , to watch Star Trek I'd have to play with the poor signal , all the while my father criticized the fact that Star Trek would never happen in real life . He was using reverse psychology and spurned my need to dream . Now we stand on the doorstep of Trek , as my android phone testaments , star trek didn't even have one . Look up children because possibilities are here and at hand , Primo Fronzi .
Just think we have had flip phones that looked like the communicators and now Smart phones, more modern tv's and computers, laser surgery, heard there were Feinbergergers already and MRI's that resembled Phlox's Imaging Chamber, and might even be able to heal something from one place to another. I wish my dad was still alive to see what he thought would happen when he took us kids to the computer lab at Ga.Tech and told us that the old reel computers would someday sit on our desks and then got into a briefcase and then carry around in our hands. He also thought our watched would go beyond his old analog Timex too. He read science fiction and encouraged me to read it it-which I did. I imagine my horror when I wanted to write an essay on Ray Bradbury or do a paper on Vulcans and my h.s.sophomore teacher said, "girls don't read Science fiction." I asked her who do you think encouraged me to do so? My father did."
@@virginiaconnor8350 Its amazing how fast technology can progress. Imagine being born in the 1880s, with steam power and the first electric machines as the pinnacle of technology. At the end of your life you see the first space flight. My grandfather was born 1928, in the first part of his life the TV was high tech. 80 years later with the smartphone he had a device to access nearly all the knowledge in the world. Iam eager to know how far we are going in my lifetime.
a day will come when we have starships that can reach area's of space to explore "space the final frontier a place to boldly go where no man has gone before" *star trek TNG theme plays*
Thanks for this. As a life long Trek fan (from the Original series) this is great. Have always loved the bit from Next Gen, where Enterprise separate from the saucer section and the star drive. The folks doing the models for this were amazing.
I hate to be the one guy that speaks up and says something critical, but I find it a bit odd that, for a video that seemed to start as a tribute to Starfleet's mission of peaceful exploration, nearly all the footage was of battles.
I remember seeing TNG for first time in a video shop, about 1990 first 3 or so episodes released on video, saw cassettes on shelf,,then i said "oh new star trek series!"
Hey anybody come to this video and similar , just to get away from the rest of the net ? Just the enormity of The possibilities . And , I know that in that period we shouldn't be at war but . I love that shot of the Borg globe trying to escape and those last photon torpedoes following it causing it to explode . Reminds me of the nuclear submarines and the final return if America is destroyed . '
Enterprise B. Captained by Ferris Bueller friend. Dude couldn't cut it as captain and if Canon is believed, I think the daughter of Sulu was named captain.
The temporal cold war/Xindi story arcs ruined Enterprise. They had a plethora of material to use from that era of Trek to build a successful series on. The very best episodes were the ones featuring the Vulcans and Andorians.
This. The execs wanted long story arcs but the problem is that the Xindi arc was too long, and nobody could recognize any connection with the rest of the canon. Once they got out of that the final series two-parter about the terrorists on Mars was one of their most brilliant episodes, and an indication of where the series should have gone.
Thanks Charlie, that was FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for creating and posting :) DM.
