A good set of instructional videos George! I can appreciate the difficulty of crawling on top of the engine, it was a lot easier when I was about 40 years younger. Keep up the good videos!!
I just make the same job on my 1995 Concorde last day. These bushing are hard to replace. This take me 10 hours to make the same that you. But my Concorde have the 3.3 engine and i noticed that space behind the engine is better, but a metal coolant pipe traveling behind the engine make the space smaller that you. Because my intake is full aluminum, i can sit literaly on the engine without the fear to broke something. This help a lot to see in this tiny space. I dosent remove anything behind the windshild and nothing in the intake to do this job. Just the brake booster pipe that i disconnected from the rear intake part. I'm more younger that you and i can say too that this job give me a lot of pain in my hands. Sometime i droped my tools by the lack of endurance to hold it. The most important hint here is to jack both side of the front of the car before beginning to lose any bolt on this rack and pinion and the car need to be in a perfect floor level. Another hint is to not remove the two tie rod at the same time. You start by one side and when your new kit is bolted with all his parts on you remove the other side and install all the stuff and bolt it. This help to not lose where are the hole threads inside the rack and pinion. With this big plastic accordion you are unable to see anything! I replace the two big u shape bushing that holt the whole rack and pinion on the firewall too. With the help of my wife i previously see the whole rack and pinion moving in these big bushing when she turned the steering slightly right left right left... I dont know if this is normal but they are cheap to buy and easy to replace. Now the whole thing seem strongly holt in place. But i feel each crack on the road and on a highway this is unpleasant for a long ride. The lh platform from 1993 to 1997 have the same rack and pinion setup that you. This include Chrysler New Yorker, Dodge Intrepid, Chrysler Lhs, Eagle Vision and Chrysler concorde with 3.3 and 3.5 engine and 42LE transmission. For info, an interesting fact about these car is they are designed from a Lamborgini Portofino. This explain why these big car turn corner like sport car. Another thing is the seats inside these car. You can swap them with a Lhs leather set that are hundred time more confortable. They are easy to find in junk yard. The electric moving front seat can be easily connected to the lighter circuit and will work perfectly nice. In your chrysler 300M i think you have the best set of seat for this next generation. They seem very cozy for long ride.
You did a Great job on that repair !!! I kept yelling at you about forgetting the washer ..Taking the hood off also gives you more light to see down in there
Tight quarters for sure George, don't want to cross thread that thing now. Those flex head ratchets work out nice in tight areas. Thanks for walking us through it.
+Rusty “rustyglovebox” Glovebox I do hope it will help someone else down the path, when they need a little confidence to dive in. Thanks for the encouragement Lloyd.
+geargriden19 Oh, I have to do the brakes first, before I get my truck back. Hopefully he will have $$$ for the parts for those this week. Thanks Daniel.
+Classic Car Overhaul Helping someone else along the way is the only reason that I did this video series. It would have been faster without the camera, but then it gave me a good excuse to take a break now and again too, right? Thank you for the kind encouragement Sam.
+Mike Fifer Oh, it was going to get done, it was just a matter of how much time and how much pain... Actually, it was my calves that hurt the most from leaning over the front, which surprised me, as usually it is the back that does me in. Thanks for the encouragement along the way Mike.
At 4:25, there is a stop/start in the filming. That's because he forgot to put the washer on the backside of the first bolt and had to take it all apart.
Hi. To do wheel alignment what detail should i wrench? Is it sleeve adjuster or its "mother" (the thing in which adjuster goes in)? If u could make video how to do a alignment it would helpfull)
@@TheShadeTreeFixitManthank u too) the thing is that in my region there's no masters who knows chrysler's cars (usually its asian cars). So i need to know for myself first, so i could explain what to do to local specialists).
Hi! I changed them months ago but you hear a squeaking sound when turning the steering wheel in any direction at low speed and also when I go over unevenness or potholes, did it lack tightening or what could it be?
Did you grease them properly? I hope you remembered to get the bushings in properly too. This one is now in a junkyard or crushed by now. Thanks for stopping by.
A mechanic do this yesterday but feel power steering to the left hard, the right soft and in hyway like power steering move too much what u think it is?
Sounds like an issue with the rack and pinion unit or the hoses being pinched. Not sure without actually seeing and hearing it. Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by.
Yahooo PTL ! You must be pretty good at drilling out those bolts. I like your very big Cresent (snap on) tool. Just as I call a tissue a kleenex I call water pump pliers a cresent wrench. Some people call cresent wrench an adjustable wrench. Then there's zert and zerk fittings. Isn't that what happen at the tower of Babel. I guess it's what you were taught. Well you can call me Mostlymopar you can call me Mostymarty just don't call me late for dinner. Nice job George bettcha glad it's done. TFS Time for church.
+MostlymoparIH It should be, but I won't know until the brakes are done and I have one frozen bolt that will have to be ground off, so it will be a couple of days yet, besides the snow storm we had last night and is continuing today.
Why'd you decide to swap just the bushings and not the entire rod? I need to do this job myself soon on an 00 Intrepid. Trying to see if I need to spend 80 or if I can get away with just 20.
+Cary Lamari Better make that OLD pro. I used to be a pro, back in the 70s-80s, but that was then and this is now. Thanks for the kind encouragement Cari.
I’m facing this job as soon as I get the replacement parts. Good video. Thanks.
I hope this video will be helpful. Thanks for taking a look.

+snowking55 40 years younger would be just great for sure. At this point I would settle for 10 years younger even. Thanks Ken.
thanks George, first time doing these, but with your videos took me under 2 hours... awesome demonstration!
Glad we could help. Thanks for taking a look.
Thank you! For the video it was very helpful. Midas wanted $245.00 to do the job. So I decided to do it myself. Wish me luck.
I'm glad it will be helpful. I hope your project goes well for you. Be patient.

Thanks George for really explaining how to do it in details.
I'm glad it helped.

Ohhh my bad. Maybe he will. Have a good'nnn
+geargriden19 No problem, and I think he will. I have the car up on jack stands and will rip into it tomorrow to see just what it needs.
Awesome job! Glad you got it fixed and in the heat of the garage to boot.
+Rudderify Thank you so much, I appreciate the encouragement.
Glad to see you got er done George. This video will surely help someone out,

Mike
Nice job! They enjoy making working space smaller and smaller and a regular guy has to struggle fixing anything.
+txsviking I used to be a regular guy, but now I am old and a little paunchy. Thanks for looking over my shoulder Terry.
wow, I'm glad that job is done. I could never have done that, that's a lot of work and especially in cold weather..
+MissouriOldTimer With the heater going for part of the time it really was pretty comfortable working in the shop. Thanks for your kind encouragement.

Yup, that and the fact that I finished it up during that transition, thanks for taking a look.
Nice work George!
+RamblinAround Thank you Jeff, I appreciate your comments.
Great job, you were in the right line when God gave out patience.
+59chevt I'm not so sure about that Tom, but I appreciate your encouragement.
Thank you George, great detailed video.
I hope it helps you with your repair. Thanks for taking a look
Good job George.
+ZIGgassedUP Thanks Ziggy. I hope you don't have these beasts down there.
Mission accomplished Sargent!
+cutworm59 Thank you Sir!

Is it sleeve adjuster or its "mother" (the thing in which adjuster goes in)?

Thanks for stopping by. I don't do alignments and would suggest taking it to a proper alignment shop. This car is no longer available at any rate.

good job george...my hands wept a little just hearing the plier handles slamming together
+Elbows Malone Thankfully, I didn't catch my fingers too badly, like I have in the past... Thanks for the encouragement along the way EM.
Congratulations George on succeeding with that job, awkward location!!
+Dan Whiteford Thank you for the encouragement Dan.
Jolly good. I thought it would have been a tougher job. Glad it went well even though you had a couple hick-ups no thanks to salted roads.
+WallysPlace66 Thank you for looking over my shoulder and making sure I did it right Ron. I appreciate you.

Good job George. That being a northern car I was wondering how hard it was going to be to get those broken bolts out.

Quick question will the tie rod being mess up make the care feel like there is a bubble in the tire i had all my tires replaced
It certainly will and will actually cause problem to your tires/alignment if it is not repaired.
@@TheShadeTreeFixitMan ty for replying to me so fast like your vids bro.man if it's not one issue in life it's a other lol
@@leedunlap92 Thank you for the kind words.

no problem. I have an 04 300m. and when I turn to the right my front driver side tire shakes and someone said it was the tie rode. is this true?
Most likely, though it could be either the inner or the outer tie rods. Check them out.
will do. thanks again

Quick question is driver side bolt left hand threads. And passengers side right hand threads ?
