I had the same issue with the buttons, then I discovered the light button acts as a display button without accidentally turning off ac/dc! Also if you accidentally tap again the light comes on, giving some illuminating feedback! Lol

This is the most worthwhile review of this sort which I’ve seen. For us non techies, it is REALLY helpful to see everything plugged in to get a true sense of its capacity.

I ordered one this morning and after watching this I feel much better about my purchase. The selling point for me was the assortment and amount of outlets and the relatively quick charging time using a 200w solar panel. Great video! Thanks for sharing

So I’ve been researching off grid portable solar charging power stations and this was a helpful review. Thanks for that! I have been delighting in the reviewers, who thus far have been all guys, all of whom have found it necessary to explain why they have this particular color unit! I’m sure it works just as well even if it’s “pretty”. Anyway, thanks for the awesome review.

Further, when/if I loose power at home, I can keep a few basic things running. I gonna save a fortune in candles! Thanks again!

Before seeing this video I had seen other videos about the EB70S. I have always heard that Bluetti is an excellent product. Therefore we ordered one (EB70S) today and then I decided to look up different videos about it to get familiar with it before it arrives. The whole display thing and button seems like a pain and I hope I don't screw things up and leave it on by accident. I have never used one of these things before. I do however love all of its other features. I am really looking forward to getting this thing. Thank you so much for putting out this video.

  • @CraigNiesenPhotography

I ordered one over the weekend based on the cost, power specs, and the number of outlets. It seemed like a good deal. It sounds like the display is going to be the biggest challenge for me. I am still waiting for it to ship. Thank you for the review and comparison to the other options.

Great review! I purchased a Vibrant Red EB70 in early June and have been reasonably happy with it. The primary reason I bought this unit was to run an 3 QT Instant Pot while boondocking. It was the cheapest unit that could supply the wattage needed (and it will cook about 3 meals on a single charge). I also wanted to share a couple things I've learned about the EB70.
First, Bluetti's tech support recommends fully charging the unit, then fully discharging the unit and the charging it back to full in order to calibrate the display. This does improve the accuracy of the 5 segment power level meter but in practice this just means that the "battery low" icon doesn't come on so early. Before calibration, I was able to draw another 100Wh after the meter said it was "empty". After calibration it's definitely better but still not very accurate.
Second, the output power watt indicator is rather inaccurate. The REED power meter shows a draw of 63 watts but the display indicates 57W (incandescent light). Running the same test with a floor fan, the power meter shows 108 watts but the display shows 98W. So about a 10% error in both tests.
Also, I would recommend buying a couple of 5521 barrel connector to DC socket adapters (under $10 for the pair) giving you 3 DC socket outputs when needed.

    • @missionshipixdos215
      @missionshipixdos215 Před rokem +2

We got this for the Mission Ship IXDOS for cooking with a regular 6 quart Instant Pot Duo as the EB70 current model for 2023 has 1000W output for A.C.. The old versions like this review are only 800W. Works a treat on the boat. Can use a full 1000W Instant Pot 6 quart size.

  • @Endless_Skyway_Adventures

Yeah the power buttons are funky. I’m looking for some kind of led indicator to plug in if I’m running my fridge but honestly I have other solar to power my fridge. Most other stuff like your fan is obvious when it is on. I really don’t care about the display all that much. But so far I am loving my EB-70.
You did an excellent review and addressed my biggest beef with the River Pro cause I really don’t want to supply less than recommended voltage to my devices. If I overdraw the unit I want it to shut off not compromise my devices. The only other EB-70 Issue you did not address is the obnoxiously loud power brick. So again great review and lifepo4 rocks.

Thanks for the review. I ordered one in gray on the 2nd after watching Hobo’s review. I needed one that wouldn’t shut off overnight on cool nights for the fridge. The EB70 has an Eco override. That plus LiFePo4 makes it the only choice for me. I’m surprised that you didn’t comment on the always on fan in the charger, but then, it won’t be on while travelling.

I currently have the 240w Jackery and wanted the 1000w Jackery but still saving. Now I'm leaning toward the bluetti eb70 but I definitely do not like the screen either. I'm new to solar and honestly need all the help and having a great screen and display button would be extremely helpful because like you said if I accidently turn something off I would be very upset. I'm missed the prime day sale, still saving, hoping to be able to buy something within the next few weeks. I think the two things that this unit has that beats everybody else is the price/Wh and the battery chemistry and cycle life (LiFePO4 - 2500+). Every other feature is a bonus, every fault is a compromise. This is not perfect by any means but its nevertheless a very important product as it will now trigger the competition to do better in terms of features, price and cycle life and that will ultimately benefit the consumer. But as of today, this is the top dog.

Other thing to bear in mind is the units with lifepo4 batteries can be left not charging for much longer, the lithium ion should be left on charge anytime you aren’t using them. Lifepo4 can sit on a shelf in your garage forgotten about until you need it, and it will have more charge than anything with lithium ion, which will probably be flat.

The EcoFlow's X-Boost gives you the full heat I believe, since it ups the amperage but lowers the voltage. It's only good for resistive loads like hair dryers and space heaters. It's capped at 600W regardless. The River Pro is awesome aside from the NMC battery chemistry.
I'm being torn between the EB70S and the River Pro. The Bluetti doesn't have a good screen and the app doesn't look as good, but it's better than not having one. The River Pro is missing the LFP battery chemistry to get the 2500+ cycles to 80%. Both would work for what I'm after, just can't decide which flaw I want to live with! The screen is my biggest gripe with the EB70S, but that can be bypassed by using their app, which I believe shows input and output for AC and DC, along with the exact percentage. The app for the EcoFlow looks like it's a lot more fleshed out and has a lot more features, but the limited battery longevity isn't something I can bypass, particularly without a user removable battery.

I don't know why Bluetti doesn't like to use the battery percentage on their mid range solar generator and just use the arcade five bars increment which is so useless. Bluetti could've just put the battery percentage inside that battery icon and that would be so much more useful. Bluetti could also had included a wakeup button for the display like the Jackery does so it doesn't compromise having to wake up the display by pressing DC, AC, or light button. I feel that this EB70 is like a prototype unit and once Bluetti have enough users complaints and suggestions then they will have another improve unit call the "EB70S" how they did with the AC50 and then later on the AC50S. Great review like always.

You may be correct. I really hope they fix it.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I definitely *won't* be purchasing the EB70 or any other Bluetti unit until I see the company fix these glaring oversights.

Maybe you can help solve my conundrum, Matt! Do you think it’s better to get the EB55 for a fridge and charging drone batteries on a trip with no solar panel or the new smaller Bluetti with a solar panel as that unit does charge so so quick. And for what it’s writer, my truck is the new Pro-4x and has a 400w inverter with power outlet in the truck bed.

Couth that Bluetti power a small oil radiating heater all night or a medium sized cooler/freezer combo for a van? Also wondering if it can be recharged with solar panels and which kind to get. Thx.

Hello and thanks for the review, i have a question.
If i connect more solar pannels in paralel but within the maximum voltage but the amps will be a lot over the capacity of its own charging will it still work fine?
I want to have more amp then it needs so that when it is just a little sun it can still charge.
I hope that my explanation was right.
    Thank in advance!

The people that would refuse to buy this based on its color, also would refuse to watch your channel based on the color of your hair.
    Sooo..... There's that. Screw 'em.
    Great video made. Rock on!

I think you had my wife at Margaritas. I agree the display and buttons is pretty low hanging fruit to fix. Should have been better. Any idea when the teal/aqua/seafoam color would be available?

They were sold on Amazon, but sold out a few minutes after the official launch on April 30th. It was actually listed on Amazon a few days before.

I'm just getting into solar power...question: if I plug in my 120w solar blanket do I need to plug in the solar controller between the solar blanket and this Bluetti? Thanks! Great review

I just sent back my ecoflow river pro due to software issues with the extra battery. The company had me install an app on my phone to try to sort out the issues but to no avail... and now I have one more app on my phone spying on me from a Chinese company, I pressed them on the app permissions but they had no answer as to why my portable solar generator needs to have FULL access to my phone to work??? They didn't have an answer as to why they needed to collect all the info I have on my phone so my cpap will work while I am camping... makes no sense other than they are selling my info... I am about to order the bluetti with the solar panel (200watt)... thanks for the reviews... Cheers!
