  • One of the best bang-for-the-buck improvements you can make for an automatic transmission performance car is a high-stall converter. Follow along as we install and dragstrip test TCI's bolt-together converter on a fourth generation Camaro. It's strong enough to handle big power and torque, rebuildable to change the stall speed or for cleaning, and it's a lockup design so you won't sacrifice freeway manners or mileage.

Peter Palasti ls1tech.com/forums/vehicle-classifieds/1731601-sommer86-s-red-2001-camaro-ss-sale.html found the for sale thread for the car. Im having a hard time finding the whole photoshoot but you can try. That particular model made me feel some type of way.

pro tip after you install a converter (that's not stock) don't launch at the stall speed, just floor it from a dead idle.
Edit: Bc the rest of the suspension is stock.. it cannot put the power down. With just flooring it, it gives a bit of roll out and the car will hook.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but does a high stall converter hurt fuel economy when just driving around town?

U have to keep in mind location as well. In a place like north carolina on a fall day. U can run 8s. Same exact car with the exact setup in florida on a summer day... Might run 9s. U also have to keep in mind elevation. The higher the elevation the thinner the air and the less power ur car can generate.
