I’m still in disbelief we actually got a girl group - a Japanese girl group !! That is CULTURED , can rap , sing, dance, has old school swag and is centered and influenced by old school hip hop / rap vibes and is bringing that sound back… pure talent and hype. No wonder ppl are finding reasons to hate them! They ain’t use to this…

@Banana no one cares who writes it. When you find a good song, do you get curious about who wrote it? No you dont. No one checks the credits. What matters is how the performer delivers.

I still cannot believe how ultra elite XG's lyrics writers are. This is a masterclass in clever rap writing, the references and double meanings are beyond insane. Then they get out there and deliver it with that massive talent and swagger and everyone's heads just explode, I love it.

Trust me I been a fan of a lot of girl groups since wonder girls..But when I discovered XG,I didn’t realize that this the group I was looking for..Full blown unity group,charisma and talents..Especially the swag and dancing skills..I was sold..I just saw them here in NYC and can’t wait to see them again in LA couple days after my birthday..It’s gonna be amazing turn out

Simon really did THAT. These girls had the talent and were worked to actually really learn and appreciate the culture. They are the change and the improvement. As someone who is a blackjack, you know my standard is really tough to reach because 2NE1 is just levels, but I can definitely tell that these girls are for real. Asia got a representation that is polished and ready. Let's go XG! And the haters can just sit and stare at this point because you will never catch anyone who is black, who has something against them. They are clean and clear with it.

I loved Lisa & Jennie from blackpink but when I found out XG these 2 stands out for me. They give respect to old school hiphop more talented to those 2 psycho who sing island boy RIP😂.
I feel like xg is one of the only groups in South East Asia that actually understand and knows Black culture while loving it, embracing it, and appreciating it. Like it's really refreshing to know that these girls actually love hiphop and r&b. It's not just because of the label or what's popular, it's because that's what they grew up on; that's what they know. Plus, they give so much homage and Alphaz get to go back to the original creators and enjoy their music as well. Getting to see who inspires them is really cool, nostalgic, and a great way to represent Black culture.

Cocona said when she was 3 y.o. hearing Hip Hop just made her body move on it's own & from then on she has embodied hip hop since but even now more than b4 thats why she has that natural swag. In an interview asked about Tape #2 Maya's quote was "All of us were involved in choosing the beats, lyrics, and flow, which allowed us to show more of our personalities. So as young as they are now in 5 yrs they'll do their own lyrics. Simon was born & raised American n left to Korea to be an Idol Group DMTN so hes feeding XG the old skool sound. XG has not just the best female rap line but one of the best rap lines in Asian music history.

Totally agree with you..When I first discovered them on their song ‘Tippy toes’ I fell I love with the group because they reminded me of Pussycat dolls..But when I saw their xypher i fell In love with the group even more because someone who’s half Filipino-black American and lives in NY loves 90’s-2000’ rap Hiphop..I didn’t see it as they appropriating the culture..I saw it as they embraced the culture..Love me some XG baybiiii

Something special going on here. The way everything perfectly aligned. The timing for everything has been impecable.

"Appropriation" is not even in the conversation here IMO!! There are MANY young American rappers in the current scene that lack the knowledge **OR RESPECT** for the classics of hip hop that XG has demonstrated so incredibly proudly. Not to mention, that as a 34 year old lifetime "backpacker," who's long since become disillusioned with the state of the modern American rap scene, XG's sheer SKILLS, actual, genuine real rapping skills-- not just mumbling, 10 lazy bars and bounce, in 3 languages no less-- has given me a renewed sense of hope for the future of REAL hip hop that I haven't felt in years. These girls are the real deal!
If you like hip-hop and value the actual technical fundamentals of hip hop, it's obvious that Cocona is a naturally gifted talent when it comes to cadence and flow. It is unreal!

Yes! Exactly what i was thinking. At this point, its a plus if they are writing their own but if not its cool too because they can definitely deliver and perform. There’s a video on youtube of Cocona teaching one of the members how to rap which goes to show how these girls try to perfect their craft. 👌🏽👌🏽

I feel like I've been introduced to so many great artists because of XG's tapes and the inspirations the group take for their original songs too and, as far as I can tell (I'm not American), they do it super respectfully. I'm so happy to have discoverd them and even happier to see you guys hyping them and praising their work. XG is truly succeeding in their purpose.

Just a heads up, Cocona's name is pronounced similar to "coconut" (without the T of course) and not like the Pokémon "Kakuna" or "cocoon" (with an A).

I've been saying for awhile now that the team behind XG have been giving a masters class on debuting a group. And wether by planning or luck they have had things happened at the right time to propel them forward. And the way it's happened they haven't been overexposed and left you waiting for more.
Just look at the timeline. First all their pre-debut was finished product not videos of trainee performance. They showed the versatility of the group. They showed the groups dancing ability as a crew and individually. They showed their vocals with Chisa and Juria, I don't think Hinata was comfortable enough yet with English. And their rap line with Jurin and Harvey, here I think they purposely left Cocona back because they knew what they had.
Then they drop Tippy Toes and while a few reactors mention how understated it was, I think that was on purpose. Without a flashy production on the beat and video, there is nothing to distract front vocals, rap and choreography. They added some more flash to there production on Mascara.
I think they used this time to get the girls used to doing shows and interviews and to get Hinata more comfortable. Now is when timing and luck comes in. They decide to release their next set of Voxs and the Xypher. Here is when they decide to really release Cocona out into the world. I think they knew she had what it takes to go viral and that's why she wasn't featured rapping in pre-debut content. They wanted her to get used to the stage lights before putting her in the spotlight.
Now Cocona goes viral and everyone is asking who is XG. You now have reactors reacting to the Xypher and then all previous content. And then just when interests is at it's peak they drop Shooting Star and Left Right. And they just built from there. Next thing you know you have Jackson Wang and Ciara doing a remix of your song. You get invited to KCON Japan and HITC NYC while releasing a documentary and appearing weekly on a variety show. Then they perform to new songs in NYC and release videos for them. Now they are heading to HITC LA where I wouldn't be surprised they perform to songs that will probably be from an album released right before or after that performance.
The fact that Jurin first verse was talking about Cocona. The under 16 girl going viral…. I love it

@@redd1161Hey. Not hating. But for real, Blinks have a hard time appreciating other girl groups even if the other group is good; like it's a mentality of "Nothing can be or should be better than BP". It took a lot of adjusting mentally for me to say this. It's not like I hate BP or that I won't listen to their music - it's just that BP is overrated at this point, and I can say this because I've been a fan since their debut. Anyways - I'm not sure you'd understand, but BP fans are not very tolerating of other girl groups rising too much in popularity (you may not be that way, but I'm talking of BlackPink Fans at a larger scale).

Honestly, in time we will find out how these girls put in the inputs in lyrical aspect. However, u can fed them all u want with translation but if ur not feeling the music and didnt study the culture of hiphop and rap it will show on the performance. Knowing how they really vibe and actually deliver both verbal and non verbal cue in the performance tells you where their interest it at. U dont see them trying so hard but rather just give it a good flow. XG be flowing like air and water.
