    The fuel discounts alone make the membership worth the cost. You guys should make more videos. Perhaps having tow captains from around the nation do their own videos for a more detailed region to region video. Just a thought.

      Thanks, Kamil! Glad you're enjoying the savings from your BoatUS Membership benefits. If you'd like to see more videos from our TowBoatUS fleet, visit our TowBoatUS channel @towboatus. Individual ports have their own CZcams and social media channels as well. Make sure to subscribe to the BoatUS channel to receive notifications when we post new videos -- about every three weeks!

    $150 a year is cheap insurance,. I've been a member for over a decade now. Stuff goes wrong on even the best maintained boat, and accidents happen. Even if I don't need the services for years, 1 tow (or a fuel drop because the gas gauge was faulty....) pays for itself.

    • @boatus
      @boatus  Před 4 lety

      Thanks, Jonathan! You are so right. With out-of-pocket costs averaging more than $700 for a tow, a BoatUS towing membership will pay for itself even if you only use it once every 5-10 years. We wish you a decade full of problem-free boating, but we're here if you need us!
      BTW, have you downloaded the BoatUS App yet? It's free at www.BoatUS.com/App. Not only will it give you tide and weather info for your preferred locations, and help you find exclusive discounts at local businesses, it's now the fastest way to call for a tow. Just tap the red Request a Tow button and answer a couple simple questions, and your exact location will be sent to the closest TowBoatUS port. You'll receive a text within minutes that your request was received, and it will be followed by a call or text from the captain with an ETA.
      Thanks for being a loyal member!

      Thanks, Ed. I'll pass that along. We do have a couple ports in the PNW. If you know of someone who would like to open a port at Shuswap, have them give us a ring!

    What happens if the waters you boat do not have a BoatUS tow? Munising Michigan?

    • @boatus
      @boatus  Před 2 lety

      That's an excellent question, Dan. We do have two ports up near you at Drummond Island and Bayfield, but it looks like they're a bit of a hike from Munising. Generally, if our members need assistance but there's no TowBoatUS provider in the area, our dispatchers will contact an independent resource. In this case, you'd have to pay out of pocket for the tow/service and submit the invoice for reimbursement. According to our Towing Service Agreement (TSA): “If service is not provided by a TowBoatU.S. service provider prior Authorization from our 24 Hour Dispatch Service is required: Upon authorization from us to accept assistance from a non-TowBoatU.S. service provider, towing benefits are paid per incident at the rate of up to USD $225 per hour for towing assistance and $15 per foot for soft ungroundings. In all cases, payment will not exceed the Member’s service level at the time of disablement.”

    Make a CZcams video how to call boat us for a tow or emergency help via VHF

    • @boatus
      @boatus  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for the idea, Christian! We'll certainly add that to our list of possible future videos. In the meantime, we have quite a few options for contacting your local TowBoatUS port. The easist and fastest way is to touch the "Call for a Tow" button in the new BoatUS App from your smartphone or tablet. You can download the app for iOS or Android devices at BoatUS.com/App. Alternatively, you can hail your local TowBoatUS port on VHF channel 16 or call the company directly. Or you can call the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869. If you need us, we're here for you 24/7/365 for towing services, jump starts, fuel delivery, and soft ungroundings.

    Does one policy have towing for both fresh and salt water? I do both.

    • @boatus

      Hi Robert. Thanks for asking. Yes, the Unlimited Saltwater membership covers both. Or upgrade to the Unlimited Gold for just $14 to ensure you're covered for dock-to-dock tows for repairs AND reimbursement of up to $3K for tows outside the TowBoatUS service area in addition to all the other benefits: www.boatus.com/products-and-services/boat-towing If you have any further questions, please see our FAQs at www.boatus.com/faq/boat-towing or reach out to our Customer Service team.

    $79/ year? That is stupid cheap.

      Particularly when it would cost you more than $700 out of pocket on average without a towing membership! The price for a freshwater membership has gone up to $85/year since we did this video, but that also includes a basic BoatUS Membership. www.boatus.com/products-and-services/boat-towing
