My aunt tought me to treat loans to friends as a gift to them. If/when they pay it back it's a gift. My two best friends and I have each other's back. What goes around comes around.

I also hate ankle socks. I usually wear boots and don't like my skin rubbing on them, and don't like to feel the breeze on my ankle if I'm wearing shoes. Usually working around things that can cut or scrape my legs so don't wear shorts unless it's 80 to 100 out.
