CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Terry (Whoopi Goldberg) tries to decipher the lyrics to "Jumpin' Jack Flash" in order to determine the code key for her mysterious new contact on her work computer.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Penny Marshall in her feature film directing debut, four screenwriters, and a ebullient Whoopi Goldberg join forces to make Jumpin' Jack Flash, a modern espionage comedy. Goldberg plays Terry Doolittle, a computer operator in a large New York City bank who picks up a cry of help on her computer. The signal is from a man who signs off as Jumpin' Jack Flash. Based on the Rolling Stones tune of that name, she figures out his secret password and opens up a Pandora's box of international intrigue. It seems Jack Flash is a pseudonym for a British agent who is trapped in Russia and desperate for information from the British Embassy that will help him escape. When Terry agrees to help him, the CIA, the KGB, British intelligence, and sundry other law enforcement organizations are all hot on her tail as she tries to help the beleaguered British agent.

80s movies had great set design
When I saw this in the theater (I was but a tot!!), I remember laughing so hard. And I thought even then, " I want to be that kind of happy person." As we grow up, it's so easy to forget how to play. I awoke a bit down this morning, and remembered this scene. I played the song, but it didn't quite do it. So I'm glad the clip is here on CZcams. Thanks, guys! The Jagger step. The two lesbians. And the capper, "Speak english, Mick." Classic.

I heard that she's a big fan of the Stones..I know i've seen Whoopi introduce the band on stage right before one of their concerts from back in the early 90's. i believe when they were in Miami.

Life before the internet. Wasn't it beautiful? It was fun doing this sort of thing, or asking knowledgeable people about information. Or heaven forbid, going to the library, to find a book with the right information. People gave you longer to do things, because it took longer. Life was slower.
More like life was worse. Giving everyone easy access to the canon of everything has objectively given us the tools to be better, smarter humans.

Yup. Nowadays we would just Google the lyrics but I remember doing the same when I was a kid in the 80s. Sitting there with a pen and paper and rewinding the tape over and over trying to get the lyrics down for a song.

OMG, I saw the original version for the first time now. Where are the squeaky sounds of her slippers?!?! In the German version they squeak by each step! I was searching for those slippers for years and now I find out, there is no squeaking actually! T_T Crashed my whole world....
