- These stars may have shone brightly on the silver screen, but off-camera, their behavior was far from glamorous.
Without further ado, here are the 10 Biggest Jerks in Hollywood History, decided by you.
Both my husband and a friend of mine worked at O'hare Airport in Chicago for years and when I asked them both who was the biggest asshole celebrity they ever met, without hesitation, they both said Jerry Lewis. Said he was rude, entitled and mean to every employee who had to deal with him
He was Jewish (JL is not his real name) so he probably has that "God's chosen" syndrome.
forgive him
@@JimPlattesHe had a lot to.learn b4 he leaves this Earth!!!
Jerry Lewis did those telethons cause he made his living from making fun of those people. It was hiding that truth from his fans. He was never funny. Even Dean Martin couldn't stand him. Jerry had no talent
The only celeb I've met at the airport I work at is Kim Coates. This morning, actually, and he couldn't possibly be any kinder and more gracious. He could easily rate as the nicest customer I've had, but he'd be too nice to take the award from anyone else. Go figure. With my temper, it might be .... ohhhh it would be fun to meet an a$$hole celeb. Course, I say that now. Come on, universe. Let's see what happens
Lewis oozed insincerity. I have always loathed this creep.
When visiting Toronto, it was known by those in the business that Mr. Lewis was a nasty person -- very full of himself.
My brother was the bell hop captain in the Waldorf Astoria back in the 80’s and as a result he came into contact with quite a few celebs. I once asked him who was the biggest jerk and who was the nicest. He said Jerry Lewis was one of the meanest people he ever met and Mary Tyler Moore was the nicest.
Yeah , I worked at the airport, and I met tons of celebrities. 99 % of them were nice cause I never acted like a fan And this past Sunday, I got to meet Scotty Pippin. We talk for like a couple minutes He took pictures with Two fans And then got back to his Facetime
Mary Tyler Moore was a delightful person
@@jetblack.7186 i had a brief encounter with Henry Winkler and he could not have been nicer.
@@erickthefantabulous1my niece waited on Pippin at a renowned restaurant. He left her zero tips, but that was typical. Amongst the wait staff in the whole city, he was known as no-tippin’ Pippin and waiters would fight to NOT get his table.
@boxsterman77 Hilarious, I heard that he was le cheaper. That's how big Bob lanier was.He would make you break a 20 and give you 5 dollars Even though Was a n b a global ambassador
I had a friend who lived in Kenya in the 1950s and 60s. He told me that a friend of his was a big game guide and that he had taken Crosby out for some shooting with a shotgun. Crosby fired a careless shot and blinded the man in one eye. This finished his career. Crosby didn't seem to care and gave him no compensation. The man's wife had recently had a baby and Crosby knew about it so he sent a gold plated safety pin for the baby's diaper and from then on ignored the family altogether. An arrogant scumbag indeed.
I've heard what an evil scumbag he was.
I despise those days when privileged people like movie “stars” thought it was their right to go hunting those beautiful animals in Africa. Safaris should only ever be with cameras not guns.
One thing that should be taken into consideration is that hunters pay huge fees for the privilege of hunting in Africa. These fees pay for the upkeep of the wildlife and to pay the salaries of the gamekeepers, who prevent poaching. Those who go on photography safaris only pay a fraction of what a hunter would pay. Because the wildlife areas are limited and there is a lot of pressure from human population growth the animals have to be managed. Elephant herds often have to be culled because the parks can't support them. Better to have someone pay for a hunt than to just slaughter the animals.@@arnolddavies6734
I posted something about Crosby. Crosby made everyone listed in this video look like Mary Poppins.
@@jeffdalrymple1634 Mary Poppins. She was another one I couldn't stand. I saw through her act right from the start- all smiles and sunshine. She got a friend of mine fired. He was a chimneysweep, and there ain't no coming back once you've had your reputation blackened.
I met Lewis when he stayed at our Maui resort for a celebrity charity event. Working for the GM I was charged with babysitting the "stars" and most were truly kind and considerate, but out of the public eye, this man was demanding and a total jerk, especially to the hard-working staff.
Could never stand this man, not funny at all and how much did he make with his fund-raisers. Liked he really cared about the kid's.
I have read that from so many different people - basically that he was an entitled jerk and was really to service people. I truly loathe Jerry and while I suppose we should let him rest in peace, i think people need to reexamine his legacy and realize he was neither funny nor nice.
I never knew that it breaks my heart because he was my favorite comedian in the 60s.
I liked him in the Martin and Lewis days but solo he was not funny don't forget Dean Martin broke up with him because he could not stand Jerry Lewis
@@MusicManMichaelDavis Lewis reminds me of another unfunny comedian, Chevy Chase who often thought he was funnier than he really was and would either laugh or smirk at his own jokes. Both were unfunny and as we have learned, reprehensible characters. Dean did just fine without him. I know there was a famous reunion between the two during the Labor Day telethon that was allegedly brokered by Sinatra, but I have no idea as to how sincere that was. Maybe it was, I’ll give them that.
I will give Jerry props for his charity work. At least that benefitted some people other than him
When I think of Jerry Lewis, all I can think of is a 5-year-old who wants attention and will do anything to get it. His idea of comedy was about as childish as could be and , in my opinion, isn’t humorous at all!
Lucille Ball has always given me that impression as well.
My 12 year son Tyler and I got on an elevator at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach. Bob and his wife Delores were on the elevator. . She had a little white puppy. She was so gracious and so courteous.
Bob Hope got extremely angry at the elevator operator. In a very loud and condescending voice Bob Hope scolded the operator for stoping to pick us up. He never acknowledged the fact to us that we were even there Yes, He was a jerk. I glad I finally have the opportunity to share this.
I met Bob Hope in France and he was very kind to me and my friends. He stopped by our table and talked to us
Budwest are yousure he wasn't just doing a " bit" riffing on the elevator attendant.
That is so sad to hear. He was such a gift to our men & woman in the armed forces for years.
Gee! a rich entitled guy didn't acknowledge another rich entitled guy! Imagine that! I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you!!!
@@mikeroman5208 What about the beleaguered elevator operator? I don’t imagine he was rich and entitled and you are making quite a leap with that assumption
My brother in law worked in security and one of his clients was Mickey Rooney , he said he was a dirty old man both with his personal hygiene but also in his behaviour , vulgar , crude and belittling to women
Radio dj are the same not as bubbly in real life its an act
Laurel and Hardy were the nicest ❤❤❤
He was married like 7 times, is anyone surprised?
@@wboyle9721henry winkler was awesome when i met him
Little Man Syndrome is a real thing.
Mickey Rooney always rubbed me the wrong way. After seeing how he treated Judy Garland in some documentaries despised him even more, arrogant little jerk.
I think that there's no doubt about that statement!no wonder, human beings never stop killing each other!I'll take that to mean,no I don't sir!
Probably short man syndrome 😂
I once watched a TV interview with him. It's telling that he referred to himself every time in the 3rd person. Never "I" or "Me" but "Mickey Rooney said/did . . . ".
I was not aware that he mistreated Judy but Judy received pretty shoddy treatment from a lot of people and I am sure Mickey is no exception
Only a complete asshole would agree to portray that Japanese-American in Breakfast At Tiffany's in such a horrifically racist way. It was as unacceptable in the 1960s as it is now.
In my view, Jerry Lewis should have taken the top spot - the posterchild of an angry, self-obsessed, cruel inhuman being.
Read his self-obsessed autobio.I love meee
You're right, Jerry Lewis should be #1.
He was horrid to his kids. So was Tony Curtis.
@@GirlfriendNinja Also Joan Crawford was horrid to her children. Great actress, horrible person.
Maybe Jerry was a jerk, but Crosby was such an a-hole that multiple of his children committed suicide. I think that wins Crosby the title.
How anyone could think Jerry Lewis was funny or talented is beyond me.Not crazy about Mickey Rooney either but comedy is subjective isn't it.
I hear Lewis has a cult following in France. I found him annoying and very not funny.
I'm 66 and I've never been a fan of either one. Anyone who gets married 8 times has some serious mental health issues.
He was pretty good teamed up with Dean Martin in the 1950s. Not as good or funny on his own. But he does get some props with all those telethons he did.
When I was a young boy I thought Jerry was funny, but when I got older I thought he was NOT.

Zsa Zsa once famously said, " I'm a good housekeeper, I always get the house in the divorce!"

The day Lucill Ball died, countless stars paid tribute to this comedic icon. When someone asked Jerry Lewis what he thought he replied " I dont find women funny."
That must be why she had not one, but 3 number one television shows, while he had none! I never could stand him!
Most women are not funny. It's a truthful statement.
Jerry was ultra competitive towards other entertainers and especially other comedians so I'm not surprised he said that though he was wrong.
Lucy admitted that she was not a funny person, but that she had good writers and she was fearless in doing what they wrote.
@@cadenza3210For quite a long time, Lucy was a dramatic actress. I read her autobiography about 20 years ago, and all of a sudden my elderly mind can’t remember what got her into comedy! She had a radio show called “My Favorite Husband,” for those who don’t know. That may have been her first foray into comedy.
@colleenrankin-wheeler7952 Are you an angry lesbian?
One very upsetting thing about many of the old stars is when aids came along. Elizabeth Taylor asked them to be in benefits to raise awareness and money....and they all refused......citing “we have to protect our careers”. She said something like this; “you all have more money than god, and your careers don’t need protection; these people did your hair and makeup, built the sets and lighting, and made you all look good; which helped your careers”......They all still refused to help.....Sad, that everyone does not have Elizabeth Taylor’s courage.....
I liked and admired liz Taylor, she stood up for aids when no one was interested and raised a lotvof money for it ,she cared for and paid the medical bills for her butler who had aids, she was a beautiful woman ,kind and generous,
My father worked with Gene Kelly on location. He found him to be kind, patient, always respectful toward people regarrdless of their position or station in life, combined with a good sense of humor. I wanted to clarify your description and give Mr. Kelly the respect he deserves. Thank you.
Kelly doesn't belong on this list. So he pushed for high performance. That's understandable. It's Hollywood. If you can't deal with it, go get a normal job.
My dad stepped on Gene Kelly's foot while waiting at a pharmacy in L.A.he was very nice about
I think Debbie Reynolds didn't have a good time with his acceptance of her when she had to learn to dance and boy, she nailed it, what a total professional she was but she said he was mean to her and thought she was beneath him. just what I remembered.
@@williewonka6694 Gene Rayburn was the host of Match Game not Gene Kelly the actor and dancer.........
@@JustMe-uu3bh OH my gosh, you are correct! It was Gene Rayburn.
VEGAS TIMES: Back in 1980, I bagged groceries at ALPHA BETA (Skaggs) on Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road. ACTOR JERRY LEWIS would always come in the buy groceries. I used to bag his stuff, take to his car etc .. in the video below, they claim he was mean and a total jerk. Sadly, I confirm their findings. He was mean, cheap and rude, miserable. The worst customer ever.
The best was ROBERT URICH (Dan Tanna, Vegas) and dancer Juliet Prowse. World class nice people
I'm surprised that Jerry Lewis would lower himself enough to do his own grocery shopping.
I totally loved Robert Urich...............wish he was still here......
JOHNNY PUNISH: You are 100% correct. I lived right inside thec walls behind Skaggs (later Slpha Beta) withn the Las Vegas Country Club Estates where Bob Urich and Greg Morris (of "Mission Impossible") also lived. Jerry Lewis lived several blocks away in a high-rise condominium that wasn't even a luxury building. BTW, I have a friend who in L.A. was raped at a party by Jerry Lewis.
Jerry Lewis was very bitter near the end of his life. His last interviews revealed a sarcastic bent but admitted he was the bad guy in his split with Dean.
The split with Dean was coming and he knew it. By the breakup, Dean Martin’s popularity had surpassed Jerry’s, Dean had made several movies that did well at the box office and his singing career had taken off. Plus Dean was friends with Frank Sinatra. Jerry Lewis was bitter because he had to take the backseat. Jerry’s career was at a standstill by 1965. Jerry Lewis announced his retirement from the Labor-day telethon but network gave him a blow, they fired Jerry Lewis and replaced the telethon with a 2 hour telethon without Jerry, this occurred around 2014. Jerry Lewis was a demanding controlling man. I believe the ratings of the telethon were slipping and the network did not want to tie up the airwaves for 24 to 36 hours. It’s a different world! Also, many of his friends were dead.
Dean came off to me as just being hurt. Dean was a nice guy who made some mistakes *his drinking and partying and being around Frank perhaps, but Dean was so nice. I recall from his documentary that when JFK's inauguration happened, the "Rat Pack" was invited and because Sammy Davis Jr. was not included *being black, Dean would not attend, Frank however did go and so did everyone else but Dean showed loyalty to his friend. loved Dean, sorry for his sadness at the end, losing his son and his wife and family broke him totally. anyway, Jerry seemed like he was just a jealous jealous person who wanted to ruin everything if he couldn't be "the king" when Dean was clearly more popular, more talented and incredibly charming and good looking AND nice and everyone loved him, not Jerry. RIP dear Dean........
@@JustMe-uu3bh Dean was one of the nicer people in entertainment/Hollywood at the time.
Tony Randall was one total jerk. I know. He was my neighbor for a few years.
Not, Tony Randall!!?! I did not think he had a Rotten Bone in his body.
@@acebrandon3522 sorry to disappoint you. But as my neighbor he was such a horrible person. Always complaining about everything. And so rude, yelling and pointing his finger in my face. I once just slammed the door in his face. He always looked so nice and sweet on films. But what a difference in person.
@@user-ev3dn8ev5w Thank you for letting me know. I guess vanity really does go to the preverbal head as they say. I guess that fame and monies really change a person into a monster if that one lets it. Now, Tony Randall is in the Analspastic Column of Jerk-Offs. 🤔

Not listing OJ Simpson, Roman Polanski, RJ Wagner, and Harvey Weinstein is a crime.
Don't know about Wagner but the other three are really bad news.
Yes, I totally agree with you!! They should also add Woody Allen to the mess!!
Another they could add to the mess is Jerry Lee Lewis. He did some acting after he made it big as the main competition against Elvis Presley, but he decided to turn a family reunion party into an engagement party and married his 13 year old cousin when he was 26.
You left off Robert Blake, Jeffrey Jones, Stephen Collins and Donald Trump
Well, Weinstein was a producer and although he was very much in contact with film stars, was not much in the public eye.
Whoopi Goldberg needs to have a spot on the J-list saved for her for when the day comes.

The main reason a lot of these celebrities make appearances and commercials, visiting rest, homes in veterans and children’s hospitals is, because they can write it off on their taxes as a charitable contribution.
if a football player does a commercial for a charity, and it takes one day out of their schedule, they can write off what they make in one football game on their taxes as a charitable contribution. If the player is making $16 million a year, $1 million per football game, that’s what he makes in one day, $1 million, so he can write off $1 million to charity if he does a commercial in one day
Soooo, Bette Davis made the list, but not Joan "Mommie Dearest" Crawford?!?!?
Just commented this myself. Seeing Bette Davis, one would think it was a given.
She was decent to the general public.
Her anger was mostly directed to her daughter and wire hangers
I think Joan Crawford got a bad rap from Mommie Dearest. No one was able to corroborate what she said about her. All of the celebrities who worked with her, knew her said it was lies.
Excellent point. Davis was a sharp tongued perfectionist. Crawford was just a bitch.
Bette Davis was a hard working professional who expected her co actors to be the same
I’ve seen countless Bette Davis movies and read her books, a lonely life I’ve never heard, or read anything about her being a drunk
Yeah, I think her "nasty b*tch" reputation is something of a bum rap. No doubt she could have her moody and difficult moments, but in her day in Hollywood a woman had to be downright bad-ass to avoid being exploited, ridiculed, or worse. She demanded the best, she took no schitt, and she held her head high. And I don't doubt she could cuss like a sailor if she had to, to get her point across.
I saw her on a talk show many years ago. She was just bitter and mean. A horrible woman.
her own words, she wrote this book herself; Mother Goddam : Bette Davis
@@user-jw9ye1em7m the book's title; Mother Goddam : Bette Davis is the name of the book she personally wrote about herself............yikes
I find it odd that most of what Bette Davis is criticized for was her drive for excellence. Apparently that was viewed as unseemly in a woman.
No. She was a raging alcoholic, and had little restraint when it came to showing contempt for lesser players. Every drunk turns on you eventually

her own daughter spilt the beans as well. yikes. truly evil person it seems. look at the title again...........she wrote it herself.
there are several so-called comedians that have never made me laugh. Jerry Lewis, is number one on that list. Dean Martin was the funny one. Even when I was a small child, Jerry Lewis never even got a smile out of me. Red Skelton made me laugh when I was a little kid, so did Jackie Gleason but not Louis
He made me laugh when I was 10 yrs old, after that, not so much.
Celebrity and narcissism seem to go hand in hand.
A well-know, well respected expert on narcissism says that Hollywood and D.C. attract a much high percentage of narcissists than exist in the regular population. The fame, money, and power attract the type. For sure we see it in our government in 2024.
and big egos
Trump is the best example of that.
@@ethanedwards7557 He is actually . He seems like a textbook/case of a narcissist/sociopath. I find him morbidly fascinating. Trump's mentor was a gentleman (and ruthless psychopath) called Roy Cohn, he was a hard as nails lawyer and all round fixer he taught Trump that "winning is everything all the time at all cost ". The influence of Roy Cohn on the young Trump can't be underestimated.
They certainly do, narcissists are drawn to fame but some people become narcissists because they became, famous . Being treated like you are really special and unique especially from a young age, can turn you into a narcissist.
You forgot about
Milton Berle.
Yes, but being barred from SNL was his greatest achievement.
The only reason this jackass got any notoriety, was tv was in its infancy and there wasn't anything else to watch. Today Uncle Milty wouldn't last 5 seconds on CZcams or 10 seconds in any comedy club in the country.
I met Milton Berle in the early 90's. 'Uncle Milty' was already in his eighties, but he was witty and a very nice man!
In interviews Milton Berle and Mickey Rooney bragged about having a hand in “helping” Marilyn Monroe’s career which I found exploitative of her. That always rubbed me the wrong way.
Yeah..he just seemed very creepy.
I never thought Jerry Lewis was funny
He's was funny when I was still a little 👦 boy !............
That's because he never was.
His acting was always moronic
He was funny until I turned about 10
You got that one right. He was homely too!

The scandal regarding Bill Cosby broke my heart. He was my favorite comedian, and believed he could make anyone laugh. I would listen to and enjoy his comedy records by the hour. Now, that's all over.
Me too! I thought he had a natural rapport with children.
@@Larrymh07I did too. Half of the stuff he was said he had done I believe was fabricated. He was destroyed by the film industry because he was a family man. I dislike the media-it’s like follow our rules or it’s over. His show is on one of the lesser known comedy networks that supports Bill Cosby.
Bill Cosby was a victim of his celebrity. He was destroyed by his own kind. Bill Cosby was convicted in 2018 but his verdict was overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Bill Cosby was pursued by a prosecutor trying to make points.
Why did the court overturn the conviction? Because prosecutors violated Mr. Cosby's rights by reneging on an apparent promise not to charge him, the court majority ruled.
Prosecutors wanted to destroy Bill Cosby over something that happened, a he said-she said scenario.
It doesn’t make sense. The allegations came out years after it occurred. This was a campaign was to destroy Bill Cosby, they used character assassination to destroy him. It took the Pennsylvania state supreme court to end this. Bill Cosby is a free man. What he did in the past is history. Leave him be!

Jimmy Stewart might have had a bad side but military fans regard Jimmy Steward 👨✈️ as a war hero. He was a general, he served during world war 2 in the air corps and continued serving up to 1968 in the reserves. Using the term “I’ve heard”, is a poor quote. Either he is or is not!

I've heard reports of regrettable behavior of Gregory Peck (arrogant) and Buddy Hackett (A-hole) over the years.

My opinion was based upon a first-hand account from my father-in-law, who was interviewing him at an event and when Mr. Peck saw a larger network present he abruptly walked off and sought out the bigger fish, thus snubbing him. One anecdote does not define a person.

Gene Kelly was well-known to be a nice guy. He was just a perfectionist in his dances, which maybe made him a bit hard to work with, but it was not being a jerk, just trying to rehearse a million times to get the dances right. NOT a jerk.
You are wrong, as many of his female costars attested. Being a perfectionist doesn't let him off the hook. His costars were bruised and sore after rehearsals and he tried to sleep with nearly all of them. He admitted in an interview that he got into dancing so that he could have sex with beautiful women. Fred Astaire on the other hand was also a perfectionist but no one was sexually harassed or bruised after a rehearsal.
@@eileenhetherington3704 Gene Kelly drove both himself AND his female co-starts to rehearse hard. Kelly was more athletic than the wonderful Fred Astaire - Kelly was almost a professional hockey player when young, and just had a more hard-driving, athletic approach to dance - so his co-stars would be pushed to work so hard in rehearsals that they would sometimes get bloody blisters and bruises. I read that one of his co-stars said her husband could always tell if she had been dancing with Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire by whether she had blisters and bruises - but that is just his "athletic perfectionism" - it doesn't mean he was a bad person. I met him twice and found him delightful.
@cathynewyork7918 Both Fred and Gene were perfectionists, however Fred could control both his sex drive and his body in order not to hurt his partners. His friends and colleagues who know him well have said that night was like 180 from Will's normal behaviour and character. They were all very worried about him, because it's like he snapped that night, and was like a totally different person than the real Will Smith. We have ALL made mistakes in our lives. We have all said or done things there is no excuse for. Aren't we lucky that we are not in the public eye, where our worst mistakes are not memorialized? Or out for everyone to point fingers and judge, and forever lable us, by our mistakes??? Its very sad that this has been done to Will. His whole career he has been a good example for the teens and young adults. Especially for young men. Speaking out against drugs, and encouraging responsibility with their lives. Actually always behaving and speaking against violence. It's just very sad that one mistake where he for some reason felt the overwhelming need to defend his wife's honor, is what people hone in on.
