My grandma grew up in the Appalachian mountains and was raised in the Baptist Church. She owned Elvis' gospel album, and when this song played, tears just POURED!
💕🌼💕I miss you G'MA Daisy.💕🌼💕😢
The great, legendary Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson herself said Elvis was one of the best Gospel singers she ever heard. That he could be a success if he only sang Gospel. She was so grateful to him for bringing Gospel to the masses. This is the only category Elvis won Grammy Awards for.
He loved gospels and he didn't afraid to sing them on the stage. He was authentic. Today artists are different!
Wow beautiful song for God How great thou art, thank you Elvis Presley!!
Thanks Doc. Never get tired of Elvis gospel. No sings gospel like Elvis. Love you man.
You're welcome and thanks for watching.
Elvis grew up around an in gospel church's in the ghettos of the black and white communities in tupelo Mississippi... He soaked up those influences
Gospel was Elvis's passion,
As a child he was accepted by & into the Black Church near his home grew up in the church & even sang in the church choir.
It was routine after a concert he & his inner circle would go up to his room hit the piano & sing gospel for hours.
The only grammy awards he won were for his gospel work.
He worked with so many singers
The Sweet Inspiration are there as well with him & Whitney Houston's mother was a member of that group.
His backing singers on this are The Jordanaires..
They were his favorite travelling gospel group growing up..
Once as a kid because he was so poor he tried to sneak into the tent but was caught by one of the singers.
He looked at Elvis & in an act of kindness let him stay.
He never forgot that & when he hit it big he called them and asked if they would be his backup singers.
My absolutely favorite part from this video is how just for a moment Elvis turns back into that small boy standing in the tent church as The Jordanaires Baritone Hoyt Hawkins hits that powerful low note..
There is a light in Elvis''s eyes his face just changes instantly to an expression of pure excitement & joy..
It's only there for an instant...
but it shows the love & respect & how much he honored these men & their group.
His voice is spectacular .
Agree!!!
Elvis: HE TOUCHED ME, YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE, MILKY WHITE WAY, WHY ME LORD, WHERE DID THEY GO LORD, REACH OUT TO JESUS, HOW THE WEB WAS WOVEN - Thanks 🙂
Elvis just took me to church:))
Took all of us.
I love your reaction God Bless You! Beautiful ❤️
Fabulous! Really powerful and amazing!
What singers today could put a gospel song in their concerts. Not a one only great Elvis could pull it off
Thank you for the great review! You don't ever get tired of this man. Truly the greatest of all time.
My pleasure!
Elvis had a spiritual experience as he recorded this song.Jerry Schilling observed it.
Awesome of course 😷✌
Good Reaction. Gospel music was always his favorite. His mother instilled this in him since he was an infant.
Shake Rag, Elvis's beginnings
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hell yea dude I liked this
Almost . Your learning and that's good enough for me . Much respect from Michigan .
Was a gospel song
So, what did you think of the song and his voice??
Elvis voice is great and the song was nice to. A powerful voice like Elvis can make any lyric powerful and great. If he was to sing the Alphabet, I would be sure it would be a number one song. look at Elvis covers...The singers sound really good and I would say great but do they warm your heart. For some weird reason as I type this response "Only Fools Rush In" is playing in my mind. Ohhhhh what have you done with your mental super powers :-)
Lordy the base singer with the choir when harmonising !
Yes.
That was jd summer that sang base
@@JohnSmith-sw4tn I wonder if he set a record for deepest base or anything. Ive heard some fab base singers but he was base and another few feet under !
@@johnflynn5044 JD Sumner held the title of world's lowest bass for 18 years.

I'm going to assume when you hear it you're going to know it . Almost bothers me you didn't know how great thou art was a gospel song ....
Honey Elvis TOOK THE DEVIL TO CHURCH, REMINDING HIM THAT HIS DAYS WERE NUMBERED BY JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY!
Nice saying
@@TheBlueRage Thx! He could truly sing Gospel, that's where his heart was mainly.
