HexBug Nano NITROs v's Nano V2s in Race Challenge

- In this video I created a challenge race track for both HexBug Nano Nitros and V2's. The result is not what I expected!
As you will see if you watch to the very end I had tested both tracks.
I have since deduced that the first Nitro bug had slightly longer spines and it got stuck in the orange Spiral piece. That Nitro blocked all others from passing until eventually there were enough behind it to push it clear.
The V2's found climbing the final tall central section the hardest and these then got stuck until other V2s and Nitros came to push.
I will be making many other challenge videos with these new Nitros but it just goes to show that the older V2s are still great climbers!
I made this track using older track as well as all the new HexBug Nano Nitro Habitat Track sets.

suddenly the unnexpected happened, and the xbugs nano nitro EVEN if loosing the race they attempted an inspiring move and got their v2 budies out of the obstacles... what a beautiful example of friendship.... :´v

Lego is never cheap! Yes - so many good items from HexBug this year. I also want the new BB-8 controller. (Also not cheap!! :o )

Hey. You do lots of videos about hex bugs. Would you recommend them for a 5 yr old for a present? If so, what’s a good starter set?
I would avoid the climbing and multi-level sets to start with.

I think H xBug Nanos are rather smashing. Plenty of videos on my channel and once the new Space Nanos are available, I will be reviewing them and having fun challenges.
Hi Tom. Thanks for your reply. Sorry for my question containing the link, I was just confused about which Hexbug version I had bought. I already tried the Hexbug mouse and my cats chewed the tail off!
NP. If your cat chewed off the HexBug mouse toy, not sure you want to go down the V1 route. The V1s have rubbery legs. They would be chewed and could be swallowed... 😬
Maybe look at the bigger HexBug Warrior bugs or even the new Hamster Brush Bots ?

Thanks for the recommendations! Staff at the local shelter have already tried the Hexbug Nanos with the cats, and none of them have tried chewing them yet. I wanted to get some more for them (just wanted to know which version I got) and also to try them with my cats at home. Don't worry, all the cats will be supervised when they're playing with them. The only downside to the Hexbug mouse was that it was quite noisy. I'll let you know how the cats get on!
True, the V1s are almost silent on a vinyl floor etc..

Glad to see more races! Can you do a huge maze race, with V2s sporting bright colors and Nitros sporting dark colors? It'll be interesting to see because of the way the Nitros move.
Already planing one!! (Just designing the build - it has a to be V2 friendly (like this one) otheriwise the Nitros will win on their backs!)

lol if you want some real Nitro fun put them on their backs on a bridge battle! Also, I have a suggestion to add a bridge battle to the maze. You have one of the gates flip around so that they can exit on one side, or fall down and have to start over!

Such a cringe worthy race! I love how the HexBugs behave and how random it is! When the Nitro went down the v2 track it made me laugh! And right at the end a v2 went down the end funnel which was weird and would have probably ended up as a traffic jam in the tube! Great funny crazy video though! :D
It was a crazy race! But I really enjoyed the ending - There was always a small glimmer of hope that a Nitro would overtake a V2 right until the last moments... And yeah! My Nanos are always goofing around when on camera! :)

Yes - I watched each BBC Robot Wars episode. Great seing so many of the teams and people I have been lucky enough to meet when they battle with their FW robots.

I would actually recommend HexBug Nano v1s to start with one of the habitat sets gat has two Nanos already included. E.g. The Battle Bridge habitat set. (Even better with a couple more Nanos.)
hello I was asking is there a way to make the bugs no stuck in pipes like on white bits or 360 twist and 180 degree curves because thats where my bugs get stuck all the time bought 10 of them all get stuck on exactly teh same spots help will be aproved.
The joints can be tricky. If the joint is not perfect there will be a ridge / gap inside and the bugs can not cross that.
Two tricks.
1. Pick up a white connector on its own amd Squeeze the long sides so that they bow inwards. Hold that for 20 seconds. Now that should 'click' and grip the tubes better.
2. Try sticky tape pulled lengthways so that the tape pulls the tubes togethor. (The taoe goes from one tube to another over the white connector. This forces togethor the peices)

What is the difference between v2s and nitros anyways? Look pretty much the same to me.
Nitros are faster and have 2 more legs on their back, they can also climb on their back better, v2 nanos are slower and only have 3 back legs

I think the nitros are better because they can move upsidedown and can climb and flip there selves right side up

I show several being released at the same time.
This race is an all in climbing challenge and you can see which team actually won!!
But overall I prefer the Nitro's. Far superior to the V2.
