The original one is pretty convoluted and pretty hard to understand what's going on in the drawing. The new is so much better in rebutting the flaws in the original piece, Amazing work James

The thing's rocky texture made it much better but what actually makes a huge step forward is the perspective. The old one is pretty messed up, you have to spend a lot of time looking at it to understand what's happening, but you immediately understand the new drawing at the first glance. Of course the linework is cleaner, and the use of a background gives it the feeling of being a more serious, more finished piece, more professional, now everything makes more sense. It really is impressive, bro, you always have the idea that some people have the ultimate skills and their drawings are perfect, unimprovable, but with these old vs new videos you show us how you can always push the limits and go even further. Thanks!

The head is to low in the body

Is there something 'off' in the proportions of the Hulk in the new version? The arms, Chest and back look a bit strange to me... great rendering and concept though :)

Its the illusion of The Things fist it blocks a portion of Hulks checks making it look really weird but I see what he was going for but it is that giant fist throwing off the image.
Michel Smullenberghs nothing in the hulk should be proportionate. Look at his chest or shoulder they're around three times bigger then his head.
That's correct but his left and right shoulder should be equal in size and in this case it isn't... Also chest and back are a little twisted in an unatural way...

With the hulk in the newer one though I feel the back is the slightest too big and makes him look like his head is the top of a pyramid

I honestly like so much the style of our old art, but it's true some parts of it is just not good at all (Im talking about little things like hands or shadows), now ur art is just excellent.

If you have years lay off not drawing a single thing I think you can still draw absolutely amazing.
Looks like hulk head could be adjusted higher but damn I wish I drew that Well! First and second drawings are great.

I like the new one more, but both look good. The lower "worms eye perspective" really makes the scene look more interesting!
I really like the newer drawing better. The Thing looks amazing! The only issue I have is the proportions of Hulk's head and hands in relation to the body. I think they could have been made just slightly bigger. This would have made Hulk a bit more proportionate and massive. Just my personal opinion. Overall, still AMAZING work as always!
It may seem strange, but I always prefer the Hulk with less veins. I mean elephants, and rhino's have less veins as well.

New work is better, but I really like the scrunched up face the Thing made in your old work. I'm not sure why. Probably because the Thing is always angry for being the Thing, but not as much as he would to scream his lungs out. He's had that rock body a long time and I feel for him.

Much improvement and love the new angle and clarity but Hulk has a lot of issues, his left arm looks like it's flying off and to be brutally honest you went way too overboard on the back muscles, it kind of looks like his back has been split from the rest of him and resting on his shoulders, yikes!
The head is drawn too low and isn't large enough
The old piece is amazing for sure, but I prefer the new one's perspective and power.
I would say that the new one is better but the first is still amazing. It blows me away that you did that one in high school. I'm about to turn 37 and honestly I got away from art many many years ago and I'm trying to get back into it as I have always loved art. I would love to some day be close to the caliber that you were and are at. Do you have any tips on how to go about that?

Ok so I like the new one better because you conveyed the scene much better, well done! However, I do thing the hulks proportions are very skewed (hulks right arm, viewer left) seems way long for being forshortened. And his head placement feels wrong, I can’t provide a better critique other then my brain thinks his head is wrong somehow? But as ever, amazing work.

Hi James I really enjoy watching you drawing in this video I can remember in grade school watching a boy sitting next to me every day drawing superheros I said to him I would love to draw like this he said you can if you really want to learn and I draw with him and yes I could do I draw a piece for my brother when he was in college he received an A+ that was many moons ago I only draw some cartoon now I have carpal tunnel in both my hands and waists I doodle too some times I really enjoy this video look forward to seeing more have a bless day my friend
