Andy, greetings from across the pond!! I simply had to take a moment to personally thank you for turning me onto athe revolutionary product called, “Zap-A-Gap”. My knots as a fly fisherman over the years have not been the best, but a small drop have proven wildly successful at keeping my clinch knots from coming, “unclinched”. And that’s just the beginning. These past few years with the higher prices of EVERYTHING have helped me repair soles of shoes I would’ve otherwise had to replace. Thank you so much for this. 😇
As you say, early season has been CRAP , I expect your like us and back to flooded now. My day job also depends on the weather, so I feel your pain.☹️☹️
Great video as always Andy….nice to see you back on the river. I’ve fished the Haddon estate many times and if the weather is bright with the dry fly only policy you’re stuffed. Best day I caught 8 small native rainbows which were all feeding in a pool under some shade. The only complication was the little pod of ducklings which I had to cast between ….made it more interesting! Once I discovered the Peacocks Derwent stretch which runs into the Wye behind the hotel I vowed to stick to that river….nymphs especially fished with a duo worked really well and I had great some great fun. My local river has been in spate pretty much since the opening of the trout season here in South Wales so I’ve stuck to my Llyn which is fishing well ….I’m hoping to get back to the dry fly on the Taff soon. Keep up the great work …tight lines 🎣

It really is a very valuable service you offer 😉 All jokes aside, good job sticking it out and getting some fish in the net. Many an angler would have just given up and walked away from a tough day like that with so few fish rising.

Great to see you back on the river, and catching fish des! I notice you were using a Shakespeare Oracle II rod. I'd love to see you do a review of it. I tried one a while ago and was surprised by how accomplished it was given the price tag.

Great vid Andy - always interesting to hear your thought process. Do you know what features separate the Oracle II 'River' from the 'Stillwater' version? Andy would you recommend overlining for this kind of fishing?
With a downstream dry, how do you lift off to present the fly again without disturbing the fish? I always feel this is one of those situations where you only really get one shot. Anything else is luck or a daft fish, unless it is messy/broken water.
Another great video and thank you for another guided day out “by proxy”😬 As others have said I love to hear your thinking. It is massively informative. You said you were testing a new rod (9’) so you wouldn’t be familiar with it. You normally fish a 10’ I believe when on the Wye as you can’t wade. Do you think that the reduced reach (amongst other things) might have contributed to missing those fish and would have helped on the day? Looking forward to the next one. Cheers

Andy if you were board you could do a quick vlog on flies you used or in case of spinner would have used today! I’d watch it and slavishly copy them
