I m a pastor and i can tell you with the fear of God that tithing is the major source of livelihood for us.
It is a practice we pastors try to enforce on members just for our own selfish and greedy desires.

Jesus Christ wasn't recognised as a priest by the priests and scribes of his days hence he didn't live in the temple to receive tithe. Therefore if you are priest after the order of Christ, you do not take tithe as your master didn't take tithe. Peter didn't take tithe.. tithe was sent to the temple but Christ and the disciples ministered in the wilderness and the streets. Note that free will giving is different from tithe
