Asa Singh Mastana is my favorite HEER singer !!! I still listen to his original HEER songs recordings every so often from the early 1950's. He puts a lot of emotion in his singing and has a wide voice range like Rafi. I am a Pakistani-American but I think he sings HEER better than anyone in Pakistan. Just one person's opinion, mind you, I am not trying to offend my fellow Pakistanis by this comment. Noor Jehan was given a chance by our great musician Khurshid Anwar to sing Mirza in 1982 film Mirza Jat, but then he never thought of using Noor Jehan to sing classic Heer Waris Shah in his 1970 film Heer Ranjha. I sometimes wish he should have added one more song to that film--- a classic Heer Waris Shah by Noor Jehan.
+Nisar Grewal heard him live at justice kirpal's wedding ceremonies at my grandfather's home. i think i still have the recording somewhere!

Amazing voice and melody, I love listening to his Heer songs. Some of these songs are sung by others however some of them are singularly sung by him.

anks a lot for posting this jewel of a masterpiece. Asa Singh Mastana's rendition of Heer was the real deal. Does anyone have his, "Doli chadian mariyan Heer cheekhan, maine lai chale balmaan, lai chale ve, ....?" If so, it'll be great to hear.
Asa Singh jee's voice and rendering are simply fabulous. Unfortunately, such great artists departed much before the revolution in video and sound recording technologies started. Still, we are fortunate to relish such great treasures. Thanks to Sukhjit jee.
