Season 3, IMHO, was hands down the best. My reasons are simple and few. In fact, just 2. The first is them all dealing with their future and what will happen. It's growing up, that scary part about facing your adult life. The second reason is Faith and Angel. Those two drew parallels to each other and to Buffy. From Faith with trying to establish herself as a slayer to Angel figuring out how he fits in a world that doesn't care for him. Everything flowed well in this season, even the grr of the week was handled well and fit into the overall story line.
Xander was still a complete ass through most of the season and never admitted that he lied to Buffy about what Willow actually said at the end of season 2.
I love Faith, but by far my favourite character is Oz. He is just so great for Willow and Seth Green plays him just so well. I love the rest of the season as well.
Yes, Dawn is whiny, but she certainly has some damn good reasons to be. 1. She's a teenager. 2. She has no friends. 3. Her dad abandons her. 4. She finds out she's not real. 5. Her mom dies. 6. Her sister dies. 7. Sister comes back to life but would rather be dead than be with her. And let's not forget the biggest, and yet most overlooked reason: HER BIG SISTER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT WOMAN IN THE WORLD! Can you imagine living in that shadow?! Idk about you, but my grapes would most def be sour...
@AZULAPRO I love Faith! She's just plain awesome....she's the reason that season 3 is one of my favorite seasons. Plus, she was so badass in the 'Angel' episodes that she was in. :)
This trailer is wow! season three was great, buffy and friends senior year more surprises are here and a shocking return of a former enemy I liked the mayor storyline and faith the new slayer. The mayor turning into a snake and the students helping was so entertainment and classic.
Seasons 2 & 3 were the best in my opinion. I also quite enjoyed season 4 (I know a lot of people seem to dislike it but I really liked the initiative plot and spike was hilarious. It also had one a lot if my favourite episodes like hush and the one where giles is turned into a demon.) I thought season 6 was the weakest of the bunch with more weaker episodes than strong and I would've enjoyed season 7 a whole lot more without many of those annoying potentials. The willow/Kennedy plot especially irked me because it felt Kennedy was absolutely insufferable. And that is my rant of the day.
Bella Linda My rankings are almost exactly the same! I love seasons 2+3 (and even 4), however my least favorite was actually the 5th which I know is an unpopular opinion.
My favourite season of Buffy was Season 3 aswell. Most consistent out of any of the other seasons with great episodes, villian and story line. Then it would be season 6, it was much darker and really took the characters to a new level. Then season 2 with Angelus and Spike and Druisilla were just a terrorising threat. Quite humorous and dark season at the same time. Season 5 had an incredible villain in Glory which really carried otherwise a mediocre season. Then my 3rd least favourite season is season 4, i hated the initiative story line and there were some other poor episodes, but this season had some great episodes and Spike which made it much better than season 7 and 1. Then i'd have Season 1 it was probably the weakest, but it did its job as a pilot season and vampires that season were well threatening. Season 7 is the worse season and is saved from being a total shambles because of Spike. It had a weak and cop out story line, the potentials were annoying as fuck and they were their for half a season. Kennedy was just terrible and Willow and Xander were used poorly this season. There were some good episodes and Spike and Buffy really kept this season from being really poor. I enjoyed all seasons but 7 was a real step down.
Alright, first of all, awesome trailers the whole bunch! And with that let's weigh in with my 2 cents: 1 had a rather unique feeling going for it (not to mention normal vampires actually still being a threat), but it was still undeniably rough around the edges. 2 had an amazing plotline, but it was sometimes held back by the monster-of-the-week episodes. 3 was when it started hitting its sweetspot and I think everyone knows why. 4 is still, in my humble opinion, the best. There's hush and restless, willow/tara, Spike at his awesomest, anya, giles apartment as a base plus that whole soulsearching theme that fit perfectly with the transition to college and resonated very well I think. 5 does so many things right that it really should be the best season, but for me personally there's just too many little things it does wrong; Dawn being nothing more and even in later seasons never aspiring to being more than an uninteresting and annoying plot-device, the final moments making z-e-r-o sense, spike loosing his badassness (though he's still pretty awesome). 6 is the weakest up to that point even though it has its shining moments (once more with feeling, the final 4 episodes, occasional trio hilarity etc). But overall there's just too much wrong with it compared to the others. 7 was a trainwreck. Period. (And the so-called season 8 (comic) was downright torture for any fan and we're better of pretending it doesn't exist (didn't even bother with 9)). So: 4>3>5>2>>1>>>6>>>>>7 (but to be fair, ranking 4,3,5 and 2 is very difficult, because they're all about the same level, so let's just say 2-5 was when the series was its best) /rant
Some storylines were connected to each other. Some qoutes, some events, arrivals of certain characters, etc. So unless you find it kinda confusing or hard, I'd say it's best to list the episodes by air dates and watch them in that order. Though it's not always necessary, because I don't seem to recall many crossovers other than Buffy's season 4 and 7, which is Angel's season 1 and 4. So you may also watch only episodes in those seasons in air date order. Up to you.
@Aaeiyn Faith is a little more complicated than that. Her claims that she's better came as compensation for her complexes and insecurities. She didn't really believe she was better than everyone else but she wished to be. She took pride in being the Slayer as it was the only thing she could be proud of at the moment.
buffy was 'the' slayer only in season 1. then the 'current' slayers were kendra and faith. when buffy dies in season 5, new slayer doesn't come, one would assume faith's dead would trigger new one.
I agree that it was the best season, but I do not think it should have ended with season three, think of how many great episodes came after it in the long run! And also, three seasons is not enough Buffy. :P
completely love this video. Um i do have a question. Is the part where Angel is saying that (Buffy??) could be trapped in a demon demension being tortured for all of etternity and he's not....is that scene in angel after willow comes and tells him that Buffy is DEAD? @2;10
That's true, that Buffy died at the end of season 5, but they tricked everyone with the buffybot, so nobody except the scoobies knew, Buffy died (actually Xander, Anya, Willow, Giles, Tara, Dawn, Spike and Angel and also Cordelia, Wesley, Fred and Gun knew it). That's why no new slayer was summonend.
I confused as well why so many fans prefer Spike with Buffy over Spike and Drusilla. Spike is the worst match for Buffy in my opinion as a lover, when I look at them both I see them brawling not kissing. Andrew was the comic relief in Season seven because he uses his imagination to see the characters in his own perspective like he's living his nerdy dream. I was mortified when Jonathan died, he was starting to grow on me. I'll look forward to your feedback on my other Buffy reviews :)
Best season. People say season 2 is the best but to me the show was still kind of immature at that point. Season 3 was perfect in every way. It managed to perfectly balance dark and mature themes with teenage drama. There’s a lot of character development and just some fucking incredible scenes like the one when Buffy stops Angel from killing himself. Not to mention that the ending was very powerful and devastating.
@Aaeiyn Well there wasn't an actual new Slayer until Buffy and Willow changed the laws of the slayers. I have no idea how they actually recognized all the Potentials though; there were some plot inconsistencies and things left in question in season 7.
I think Dawn expressed her bravery and courage when she fought along side Buffy in the tomb in at the end of season six. That scene was more about Dawn wanting to stay and fight which is up to her if she wants to risk her life. But kicking Buffy in the shin was just her showing she doesn't understood or appreciate for what Buffy was trying to do for her.
Idc if none of you believe me but I've been watching Buffy since mid season 4 when I was around 3 or 4. My aunt had recently stopped watching it but I remember one night I caught an episode on wb network and watched until the end of season 4. And believe it or not lucky me my aunt had seasons 1-3 recorded on vhs and caught me looking at it. So before season 5 started I watched seasons 1-3 and was all caught up. I continued to watch through seasons 5-7 and I remember on the day the show ended I was so excited I wasn't sad I mean after all I was 5 years old and about to Start school. So for me Buffy was just fun to watch at a young age. So on the day it ended I couldn't wait till it was time. And I remember during the episode I was jumping around and screaming with joy when the final battle came I remember I was so in to it when Buffy and faith were killing vamps side by side along with spike and the bitchy potentials. It was just bitter sweet fun. Buffy is still my favorite show even 12 years after its end. I continued to watch buffy reruns on fx from 2004-2007 and I didn't see buffy again until back in 2011 which is the longest I have gone without watching it. Buffy ended the year I started kindergarten and still to this day I think buffy is what made me grow up and get ready to enter the journey to reality. After all kindergarden is the beginning of the end of childhood. Im in high school now and about to graduate and every year I watch my childhood obsession/favorite series and with age I understand the series more even the rape scene which I probably shouldn't have seen as a kid but I did. When I was little buffy to me was just about a girl who was chosen to slay vampires. But now with age I see that its really about accepting who we are in life and facing our fears along the way. Which is what buffy did at first because she was scared to be the slayer and the world resting on her shoulders but then she accepted it. And chosen is my 2nd favorite episode due to the fact that buffy and faith were finally let free from the grip of them being the only active chosen ones. I love buffy and I can see myself at age 60 watching it
Buffy the vampire slayer didn't get any better after Season 3, that's not to say there weren't great episodes and great new characters. I think Season 3 had the best episodes, best line of characters and the ending does pass as the perfect conclusion of the whole series.
This Season is the best…Faith was an amazing character…imagine being called as a slayer and then finding out that your not actually need and your a big mistake…no wonder she went down a downward spiral! 🤔😏👍
Sorry, but I just re-watched Potential last week (for like the 15th time) and Dawn never once complained about her life being in danger. In fact, it was Willow, Xander, and Anya who were concerned about that. Dawn stormed out of the house b/c Willow said she couldn't handle it (which was very dumb, admittedly). But Dawn seemed to be upset only after the realization that in order to become a slayer her sister would have to die, and she was most concerned about how Buffy would handle the news.
I think Dawn understood what Buffy was trying to do, she just didn't agree. And if the shoe was on the other foot and Dawn did that to Buffy, Buffy would've been kicking Dawn's shin too. They're both very stubborn and always thinks they're right (must be a Summers trait). But that scene wasn't just showing Dawn's stubbornness, it was also showing her bravery, maturity, and nobility. How many powerless teenagers would risk their lives to help save the world?? That's pretty admirable imo.
@LilySevShipper They recognized the potentials b/c of the "seers" in the coven in England where Giles and Willow were at during the beginning of season 7. What inconsistencies are you referring to b/c I can't recall any...
Season six just continues Dawn's social and normal life a s a teenager who gets into trouble as she begins stealing. I would suggest she should have gone to live with Hank because she would be safe there but then again might not get the right parenting from him.
I say watch Angel concurrently with Buffy, it really is a much grander experience of the overall continuity, especially with the various crossovers (despite the concurrent Seasons 6/3 not really sharing any). Buffy Season 4 is concurrent with Angel Season 1, Season 5 with Season 2, 6 with 3, and Season 7 with Season 4. Angel Season 5, the final season of both that spinoff and the overall Buffyverse, is of course set after Buffy's series finale. Enjoy!
@LilySevShipper Sorry, but there was, after Buffy died in season 1, Kendra was the new slayer, but this girl survived one Show, Drusilla killed her and because Kendra died, Faith was the new slayer. It doesn't matter for how long the Slayer, Buffy was dead, she was and this is how it works. Slayer dead, new one comes.
I understand what you're saying. Everyone who was Dawn's age has problems similar but not exact. Hank is definitely not father of the year but he's not the worst father in the world. In Season five Dawn was sympathetic and was an important part of the story but afterwards I think the seasons could have ran without her. I'm not complaining about her whiny teenage characteristics but there are other gripes I have with her.
Buffy used to be bratty before the Watcher approached her and told her about her Slayer destiny, it was at that point Buffy learnt responsibilities and hardships in her life. I don't get that from Dawn as a character, she's just bratty and whiny despite what Buffy has done for her.
In Season seven we have the episode where Dawn is an apparent Potential Slayer and she complains and sulks about her life being in danger. Well one thing I can't beleive she hasn't comprehended, "HELLO DAWN YOU STICK YOUR NOSE IN BUFFY'S BUSINESS SO YOUR LIFE IS ALREADY ENDANGERED". Buffy even sends hers away so she can be safe and what does she do? Returns back and kicks Buffy on the shin without understanding what Buffy was trying to do for her.
I respectfully disagree. Season 3 is an amazing season, but I felt Buffy should have ended at "The Gift." Season 5 was superb, capturing epic battles and human emotional on a great scale. After season 5 ended, it felt complete. Buffy's arc was realized, and it all ended quite smoothly. Although I enjoyed the final two seasons of Buffy, everything already felt neatly wrapped up in season 5 and it was a much better conclusion to the story than if season 3 had been the end.
That reminds me at the end of Season 5 Buffy died and something never been addressed who became a slayer when that happened. There had to be a new slayer made at time. So who is she? And I'm not talking about all the people that became slayers at the of Season 7 I'm talking about one person that would have become a slayer between Season 5 and 6.
Don't dare compare this masterpiece to Vampire Diaries or Twilight
Twilight is its own universe. The Vampire Diaries HEAVILY took inspiration from the Buffyverse.
Oh your right Buffy better
Yes, on byffyverse vampires were evil

Fab! Season 3 is my fave Buffy season. Faith and The Mayor. Love 'em.
Looking back at season 3 producers did an amazing job with the storylines and upping the stakes.
I know it's been 9 years but you missed the perfect opportunity for a "no pun intended or intended" with the use of the word stakes. Lol

Yeah it was totally awesome! One of my favorite finales!
Oh god i would totally freak if i had to wait for this season but i don't thank god
Season 2 with season 3 at a very close second.
And season 3 had the first appearance of season 7s main villain The First.

The best season of Buffy ❤
The BEST trailer for the BEST season! Great job!
This was one of my favorite seasons of Buffy.
I Love Faith.
Great job on this video.
this was the last season with David Boreanaz and Charisma Carpenter as series regulars (before leaving for the spin-off series "Angel").

How do you make these buffy clips in HD? BTVS never went to Blu Ray. Does anyone know? Anyways this vid is epic.
Wait...all these trailers on your channel are fan made ? Great job, for years I thought these were real
Fight scenes in this trailer are remarkable
OH MY GOD!!! LOOOOOOVE THIS TRAILER OF YOURS!!!!!Favorited!!!
My favourite episodes were in this season! The Wish, Band Candy, Dopplegangland, Lover's Walk and Amends!
Season six just continues Dawn's social and normal life a s a teenager who gets into trouble as she begins stealing. I would suggest she should have gone to live with Hank because she would be safe there but then again might not get the right parenting from him.
I was kind of hoping they'd have her saying "I'm Buffy. The Vampire Slayer." from Anne and her line about "Anyone not having any fun, follow me."
Seriously becoming impatient waiting for season 6 You MUST continue
LOve it. I am seruiosly watching each tralier as I write. I cant wait for more. I NEED More. lol
Buffy used to be bratty before the Watcher approached her and told her about her Slayer destiny, it was at that point Buffy learnt responsibilities and hardships in her life.
I don't get that from Dawn as a character, she's just bratty and whiny despite what Buffy has done for her.
Hey! Those hair colors came back! Season 3 , it sounds like Columbus, OH , ...now.
Can you believe the watcher's council let this guy go?
This trailer gave me goosebumps.
best season ever....
PLEASE MAKE SEASON 7!! YOU ARE AWESOME AT THIS!! YOU NEED TO GET INTO FILM MAKING!!!!
I just got finished watching season 1-2 and Season 3 looks lit
@KickieKausch the one at 2:27 is the same music i hear in the spider-man 3 trailer only i have no idea what the name of that song is.
Amazing Job with the video!! Please do season 7!!! :)
Never thought about Faith and Willow as a couple .. sounds gr8!
And I'm not talking about all the people that became slayers at the of Season 7 I'm talking about one person that would have become a slayer between Season 5 and 6.
the last with Charisma Carpenter and David Boreanaz as series regulars (as they moved on to Angel the following season).
Amazing amazing amazing work!!!!!!!!! Really amazing.WOW!
