Iron maiden ..... wow !!! Wot can i say where shall i start .....they have to be the best band everywhere in our universe..i had the pleasure to experience them many times live, Donington 1988 biggest ...Liverpool in a small venue somewhere on tour up close and personal. ..i ve got a gud collection of their music on picture discs ,vinyl records albums and singles ,cds ...a band that travels through time sharing their music with us always sounding fantastic never loosing that special something the buzz of excitement every time u hear them play from my first record i bought to their latest album. ..
They are a phenomenon that's forever...........
It was about time, and thank you for high resoultion audio from my favorite rock band ever.
I live, breathe Iron Maiden. and I LIKE it!
This seems like a cool idea. Assuming the music used in the video is a sample of the work, there definitely seems to be more bottom range on the older songs, though I always thought kevin shirley's work on the newer albums was great.
Say no to max compression.
Nice dudes. I been listening since I was a baby
"remaster"
In other words, squish all the dynamics out and make the waveform a nice chocolate bar.
vanhakaveri Unfortunately, that is what usually happens, but looks like not this time.
vanhakaveri Thankfully those days are soon coming to an end!!
vanhakaveri Not any more!
Robert Percy You're wrong, the dynamics are bad on this remastered versions! dr.loudness-war.info/album/list?artist=iron+maiden&album=
christianlutz89 Lame. Part of the point of hi-res audio is greater dynamic range. So it comes down to whether the new transfer and EQ are worth the upgrade from the 1998 versions.
Iron maiden es el mejor!!!!!
Great stuff and very interesting
I'm getting these for sure
Up the Irons
2 very nice guys
WOW WOW!! SO COOL!! UP THE IRONS!!
CTM!!!
Fuckin A. Guys cannot wait hope all is well Bruce
Great work all remastered albums sound fantastic 🤟
You have a lot to learn
Remasters suck. I remember that I got me their first four albums during the 1998 remasters and the sound just sounded so low quality it wasn’t how I remembered them in the 1980s. Then the 2015 remasters came out and the quality just wasn’t there.
All sound way worse than their original counter parts. Killer on vinyl is almost unlistenable.
Ughhh why cant they remaster properly. That's taking the master tape and cutting it on new vinyl. BOOM, youve got EXACTLY how they wanted it back when they made it on new 180g vinyl with the new cutting technology instead of the old cutting process. I dont believe in "changing EQ" or adding stuff. Keep it the same, just release it the PROPER WAY! On new 180g vinyl from the MASTERTAPES!
What's the point of releasing these as HQ files when they've been compressed to hell with dynamic range around 7? Another wasted opportunity.
Agreed: resolution is one thing but when you have DR 6 files what is the point? The waveform in the background on that monitor looks decent. What in Eddie's name has happened since to result in these mediocre masters? You know what, ill stick with the original CDs as this is a joke. At Abbey Road too! If these had been DR 10 across the board it would have been great. As it is it's a waste of time.
***** Yeah those Zep remasters have been great so far. Too bad Maiden seems to have wasted their chance of making the ultimate HD versions of the albums.

The 1998 remasters are my favorite. Out of the remasters.
Every remaster = 20% louder...
OverSlyZed Actually, these remasters seem to me to be the same volume or maybe even slightly quieter than the '98 remasters.
Steve Tucker dr6 ...
Every remaster = the same thing... I definitely didn't notice any changes from the 1998 remaster.
@@asllanpizzatto7703 There are absolutely changes.
@@mrcoatsworth429 in Megadeth? Of course! In Metallica? Maybe. In Iron Maiden, not!
The best band
The vinyls released last year didnt have this, so why are these compressed?
Answers on a postcard...
Bought all of them. Richer bass, louder guitars, crisper drums. Even better than the 1998 re-masters. Deeper, richer artwork as well. Most obvious is the richer blues on the "Powerslave" album cover. Fantastic job!
Hopefully they will provide tips how to listen those remasters properly, like recommended speakers/soundcards/headphones etc. I'm not sure how many people have proper equipment for optimal listening experience.
I'm a die-hard Iron Maiden's fan and "Somewhere in Time" is by far my favorite album. I got the Onkyo's HD remastered version of Somewhere in Time and I tried to listen to the entire album many times. No can do. The remaster project should be called Iron Maiden Claustrophobic 2015, that's how I felt while trying to listen to the songs without dynamic range but full of compression. Hey, Iron Maiden, what do you think about changing the albums names as well? For SiT, I suggest "Somewhere in Brickwall". How does that sound?
I'll keep with my old CDs (before 1998, as the later ones are even worse remastered). No more money for you, Iron Maiden. Give me the option to buy the non compressed albums and maybe you could make up for the huge disappointment I'm feeling right now. Why in hell you commited such an slaughter to your perfect and dynamic songs? Please, give me a reasonable explanation.
Shame, another missed opportunity.
All I know is the LP's sound fantastic, like tape!
I think the 1998 Somewhere In Time is the worst of that lot. I don't think the 2015 is as bad but they still ruined it. Much prefer my original UK 1st press vinyl!
You don't know what compression and dynamic range means or is. These remasters sounds super compared to the old flat CD's.
Yup. Let's take a bunch of albums produced by Martin Birch, the guy who might make the most dynamic, live sounding productions in metal, and crush them down to a DR of about 6 so nothing in the mix is louder than anything else! This cynical business side of Maiden is something I find really offputting about the band.
@@mateodeo9161 Totally agree with you! The remaster have better quality in the sound than the original!
Obras de arte igual Iron Maiden merecem uma distribuição em HIFI
Sounds fucking awesome!
The best team
Could you please try to remaster Bruce's audition tapes?
That’s be super cool! Did they release Bruce’s audition tapes officially before?
just awesome ... Maiden always does shit right ...
I'd have been really curious to have heard exactly what they captured from the tapes with nothing done to it at all. Oooooooh well.
I'm slightly puzzled. If they are dragging out the master tapes for these iTunes remasters, then what did they use to make the LP reissues from the last year or two?
Brickwalled and not even subtly. The dynamics chopped. No - they dont sound like the original tapes when this is done. Have these guys run the files though Audacity or Adobe Audition? Dynamic range of around 6 which is poor for the efforts put in to restore and release for £15.
Woo!
Will these albums be released on CD and record? I would love to buy these remasters in a physical form, I'm not big into just digital stuff.
El Iron Maiden ahora puede que suene como Steve quería, ya que alguna vez dijo que no le habían puesto tanto amor a ese Álbum.
Lots of dropouts on "Powerslave" and "Killers" audible clicks on "Piece of Mind" and "Fear of the Dark".
On the opposite side: restored Bruce's rant about britney spears, coda on "Phantom of the Opera", better sound on "Somewhere in Time" (compared to 1998 remaster) and "Powerslave" song start placed correctly.
Compilations are useless as all tracks except "Man on the Edge (live)" appear on other releases that I already have. It will be better if they could be obtained via "Complete My Album" feature.
Also: single only tracks were not remastered for digital reissue. That's bad as "Somewhere in Time", "Dance of Death" and first 3 album eras A and B-Sides do not appear on other releases. But it's good that "Sanctuary" was excluded from the album as it should be. A and B-Side collection must be released
Isso para todos verem que o verdadeiro audio HIFI é de fitas !
cool news
compressed bollocks
I have the Castle releases on cd and to me sound a bit better than originals. But to each his own. What sounds good to me might be trash to someone else. It's all in the ear of the listener.
they sound quite good. great actually. why remaster?

Question for you audiophile Maiden fans: What is the best sounding CD and Vinyl versions of the Maiden albums? Japan would be my initial guess.
+Erome Zab3 Anything thats original release that has not been remastered.
For some stupid reason, some musicians (maiden included) see remastering not only as a chance to use more modern tech and techniques on original studio releases but they seem to think that crushing the shit out of them is needed for the sake of competing with new mastered works. At equivalent volumes, the original releases standup far better than any crushed remaster does (as you'd no doubt be aware)
Go with the castles or cd32, expect to pay top price though. I prefer my needle drops from debut all way to FotD personally.
CP32 japan black triangle releases, the best out there. I paid $400 for a full near mint set with OBI which is impossible to get now.
Are these new remasters going to be released on CD?
Already happened, and not good news I'm afraid.
TODOS, MANDEN ESTE MENSAJE DE LA BESTIA
Ok... Where are the multi tracks tapes ? They remastered from stéréo tracks ?
Powerslave is the best one!
The worst one in terms of this "remaster" which crushed dynamic range of album.
@@jannowak9639 Is it that bad? I’ve always wanted the original Vinyl LP, hows that sound?
@@KRAZEEIZATION original vinyl? It sounds gourgeous but if you want even more clarity then you gotta need to grab original CD release from 1984

Well done, you used your studio toys to ruin the best chance at preserving the Maiden legacy. Why couldn't you take a lead from Tom Petty, who has done the job right?
Compressed to feck is NOT how the studio masters sound, I bet. The vinyl and original series CDs remain the most faithful versions.
Shame on you.
interesting
Iron Maiden. Podiam legendar o video para várias línguas inclusive português. Obrigado!
Ah So, It's Not A Bad Thing
Any reason for the potch wobble distortions on the SIT vinyl release?
This video is for the digital only, the vinyl project was totally different as they pulled out the original analog master tapes. Unfortunately they had several issues, so a number of mistakes are across the albums. They didn’t make sure the tapes were in proper shape before transfer.
Does this means fans will new Remasters on CD soon?
I thought Master Tapes were at least one-inch width?
The multitrack tapes, yes, not the stereo masters.
I'm a head banger from the 80s I would love to have this on CD and not the other digital sucks cds all the way run to the hills...
Shame, shame, shame. You had the chance to do it right and missed it! The loudness war is here again, looking at the DRs everything is compressed and does not come near the sound of the original master tapes. It is best to keep the original vinyl or un-remastered CDs, they will sound much closer to the master tapes than this high resolution fraud.
+Peter Zarker The “Loudness war” doesn't exist! It's just a fabrication of those who call themselves audiophiles. Just terrible misinformation, not knowing anything about audio formats, physics, remixing, technology...
I agree, though, everyone has his own tastes and beliefs, so all pre-199x bands could perfectly sell two versions of every album: one for vinyls with a superhardware with that “dynamic range” you all guys keep talking (without knowing what it really means and how it really works), and another for those who want to be able to hear good enough and with the less amount of noise all the nunaces of every instrument (voice included...) in just any decent equipment, digitally...
+Sergi Medina I would like to answer this by quoting 1.Brendan McLaughlin, who wrote: "For some stupid reason, some musicians (Maiden included) see remastering not only as a chance to use more modern tech and techniques on original studio releases but they seem to think that crushing the shit out of them is needed for the sake of competing with new mastered works. At equivalent volumes, the original releases standup far better than any crushed remaster does (as you'd no doubt be aware)." 2. LetThereBeVinyl: " Ughhh why can't they remaster properly. That's taking the master tape and cutting it on new vinyl. BOOM, you've got EXACTLY how they wanted it back when they made it on new 180g vinyl with the new cutting technology instead of the old cutting process. I don't believe in "changing EQ" or adding stuff. Keep it the same, just release it the PROPER WAY! On new 180g vinyl from the MASTERTAPES!" Listening to these new remasters literally hurts your ears, whereas listening to the original Vinyl or CD's does not.
+Sergi Medina And another quotation: "Complete BS - there are very few if any CD's that I own with a DR rating of 8 or less that don't give me ear fatigue regardless of the volume they are played at. Loud parts should be loud and quiet should be quiet you can't have everything flatlining at 99 or 100% peak volume all the time, it sounds like ass and it's tiring. CD's like this end up being played in the car, that's it. Modern mastering/recording techniques haven't improved at all over the 60's-early 90's, made easier yes no doubt, sound better? that's the real lie. " I hope this makes things clear.
Hey, relax... The industry will do whatever they think it's best for them... as always.
To end the discussion: I suggested they should leave one (stupidly low) original version and another proper remix/remaster that can be heard (not everything low, but clear and using all the audio range). Well, in fact, most of them do it: they sell vinyls and compact discs. Just keep your vinyls, I'll go with digital music...
Well said!
Must admit, I always hated the 1998 remasters of the debut and Killers. They sounded absolutely shit. So I was stoked when I saw the 2015 remasters in HMV and bought them. Initially, I thought they sounded good, but then I compared them to my original CD's (in the UK that would be CD-FA3121 for the debut and CD-FA3122 for Killers) and there was no comparison. They have far more depth, warmth and dynamic range than the 1998 and 2015 remasters. Also, the bass on the 2015 Killers remaster sounds very clicky and a few occasions I wondered what that jarring noise was. So I will stick to my 1998 remasters of the rest (I have the original Powerslave CD so won't be needing that one), I may hunt down all the originals anyway. Got all the original vinyls too.
Somewhere in time album (Castle 1995, CD) is also much better than 1998 remaster.

Ive still got all my original released CD's from back in the day that sound way better than the remasters. Seventh Son original is just dynamite to listen to
I've got Seventh Son of a Seventh Son as both the original 1988 CD and the 1998 Remastered CD, and the remaster is louder and clearer.
@@fatpanda3305 If you go by A/B-testing, make sure you set up and trim volume so that they sound exactly at the same level - then you start A/B'ing them. I'll promise you that the 1988 one has much more dynamic range.
What is the purpose of remastering?
+Ayoub Minen make money with old records
+Ayoub Minen
make it "louder" and sell it again
+Ayoub Minen Because all music before the nineties tends to sound fuckin' low, and the mixing/mastering technologies, tools, processes and knowledge have improved quite a lot since then, and now they know how to use all the dynamic range, depth, nuances, capabilities... of formats and audio hardware, for every instrument.
They can make old songs sound much better, better than ever, as they were intended to be listened and enjoyed to begin with! It's not about making them louder, as some claim, it's about getting the best possible dynamic range, clarity, general quality and lowest noise!
“Remaster” is a complex term, anyway. It should be used with caution... and knowledge. Usually a remaster sounds marginally better if a good source is used and good, digital techniques. But what makes a song shine is a good remixing, faithful to the original, but with all the capabilities of digital sound.
I'd prefer a good remix/remaster over old songs and vinyl any day. Those who say remixing/remastering is bad and vinyl is better than digital are terribly misinformed on so many levels... Sorry, it's the truth.
Sergi Medina
I agree, remastering old songs can be good. But too often it's just done to make money off of old songs.
Fun fact, did you know Led zeppelin II had to be remastered immediatly after the release because the first mix was too hot for the turntables at the time
This was your chance to make up for the 1998 remasters and later brickwalled albums (brave new world, dance of death). Shame these 2015 remasters have worse dynamic range and compression. If there is a next time, get someone who knows what they're doing.
So compressed :/

Hard to believe that even the 1998 remasters (which sucks) have better dynamics that this shit xD. the best versions of maiden is of course the vinyl, and in second place comes the japanese Black Triangle from the '80 (hard to find and very expensive)

Why are all you old guys complaining about the 2015 remasters? They sound MUCH clearer and better than the originals! There's better quality and sound in the 2015 remasters. All of you, who are complaining, just wants to hear the originals because it's what you grew up with and got used to. And now you call everything else crap, because it sounds different than the originals. I'll bet you would say that an old dirty ugly smelly rag, with old coffee stains on it is better than new clean clothes. And yes. I've heard the original recording, both on vinyl, cassettte and cd.
The 2015 remasters definitely sound better than the 98 and originals, I was disappointed that the digipak releases from 2018/19 didn't have the bonus tracks and b sides
Can't be buying all those albums again. I'll stick with the last lot, warts and all. Only way I'd buy again is for 5.1 mixes

Why did you absolutely destroy Powerslave and other earlier albums, it sounds like the tape lost its high end over time, maybe the master sounds like the tape but if thats the case the tape no longer sounds how it should. Powerslave 2015 remaster sounds so bad compared to any of the other masters including vinyl and original CD release, sounds like it was recorded to casette. Please release the original mastered CD version on streaming services, especially for the older albums they are so much better.
How shit is made:
The 2015 remasters are atrocious. They're muddy, muffled and flat-sounding. Somebody did this on purpose?
It refuses to post my comment if I try to include links, but search for "Iron Maiden (original vs. remasters)" to find comparisons of short clips from various different songs. Check out the video for _Powerslave_ or _The Number of the Beast_ and tell me the 2015 remasters are anything but an enormous step down.
Iron Maiden
I will not be buying these nor recommending them to my friends and family. The original dynamics have been overly compressed and sound worse than the original CDs from the 80's. I am very disappointed with this project as it easily could have been delivered as well as Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath just by refraining from applying too much brickwall limiting and processing to the dynamic range.
@Iron Maiden won’t notify them. I can’t tell the difference so I don’t care.
There kinda hit and miss the albums up til seventh son you can notice the difference, no Prayer to the x factor there's some difference but virtual xi onwards there isn't much difference unless you have sharp and really good headphones
These 2015 remasters still don't sound as good as the original vinyl! Wasted opportunity. Should have given the job to a true professional remastering engineer such as Steve Hoffman, Andy Pearce, Kevin Gray, Chris Bellman or Bernie Grundman. Any of those would have got better results. I highly doubt the sound of the 2015 remasters are a true reflection of how the original master tapes really sound.
The 2015 remasters sound horrible. You can’t hear any detail. Everything sounds muffled and buried.

Well Harri's wife wants a new clothes....
As it seems everybody below here not want a change from original masters tapes, that includes myself. Why an urgent need to change the holy grail for a cheap goblet glass of crap?💩
Completely brickwalled. What's the point of "high resolution" remasters or whatever when they're so compressed it completely reduced the drum dynamics? Embarrassing treatment of really important albums.
