🦉📖 *...Just as the sun started going down, the heavy heat of the day broke like a fever, and the clouds that had been hovering low burst forth with the most beautiful summer rain. Every tree and flower and blade of grass seemed to sigh with contentment as the first drops hit, releasing a deep fragrance of earth and vegetation and petrichor. The low, distant rolls of thunder are so gentle your ears barely pick them up; they certainly don’t seem to be bothering your cat, who’s snoozing in utter contentment in a chair on the porch. You decide to join her and watch the day fade into night in the rainy hush. A break in the clouds at the horizon gives you a glimpse of a peachy-purpley sunset from where you settle with your book and cup of tea. Across the rolling expanse of lawn, the windows of your neighbor’s house glow with friendly lights. You close your eyes and breathe in deeply. The air is mild, still warm from the day, but a ribbon of cool breeze drifting over from the surface of the lake feels like a long drink of water, sweet and refreshing. You imagine the raindrops drumming against the sun-warmed planks of the dock, and making concentric ripples on the surface of the water. You imagine all the frogs and ducks and songbirds and flowers happy to be receiving this rain. You smile and lean back in your chair. You’re happy to be receiving it too....*

So sorry for your grief. My mother died during the early days of COVID and I still find myself thinking that I need to call her and share my day with her.
My cat Gertie passed away a few weeks ago and when I started watching this new video, I couldn’t believe the resemblance of the kitty on the chair to my Gertie-girl. It’s kind of sweet to think of her this way and I can watch her this way for a long time.

I'm envious! We don't get that many thunderstorms where I live but I love the feeling whenever they do make an appearance after a particularly hot stretch of summer.
Always wanted a house like this. White picket fence, wrap-around porch, a little land, a bell on the porch to call the kids in for supper. Fruit trees that grow so much produce we have to knock on every door in the neighborhood just so it doesn't go to waste. The neighbor kids now all grown up and visiting from college, ask if they can have their wedding reception in your backyard. You pay an HOA fee but that's okay because they maintain the lake beach and let you dock your boat close by. Your husband works a remote job because he loves what he does, but everything is paid off, including your adult children's college tuition. You just bake and cook all day while occasionally solving little disputes with your neighbors like a Hallmark TV series.

What you did here with the clouds is just beyond amazing. There's NO LOOP. I've never watched one of these from any other creator that doesn't have a "skip" appearance for a split second when it loops. And the varying degrees of lightning, the way every little thing is moving that naturally should be, every faintly bobbing tree...taking the time to include birds in the sky...and the truck arriving home and the light coming on... I just really love this one; it's a new favorite. You outdo yourself every time, but my favorites are these outdoor ones with so much nature worked in.

I’m starting to love your summer ambiences as much as your autumn ones. Summer was never my favorite season, but although where I live looks nothing like your videos, they’ve helped teach me how to slow down and reflect what I can enjoy and observe what is beautiful this time of year

Yes I wanted this to be really subtle. There are many extreme thunderstorm type of videos and I can see the appeal of that type of thing but I typically go for the more calm version of everything I create. Thanks for watching

This scenario has everything prefect, the porch with comfy armchairs, a warm lantern, a furry friend, a book, a steaming cup, warm fluffy blankets, all the comfortable things. A house in the background that makes you feel in company as you see the lights on, a lake and lightning in the distance in the purple sky while we listen to the sweet calm sound of the rain and then there are the hydrangeas with their large ball-shaped flowers, with their nuanced pastel colors that I adore, and which nostalgically take me back to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
In the language of flowers, hydrangea symbolizes love in all its nuances: ardent and passionate, unique and sincere.
