Every time I saw a Diahann Carroll I would think of my aunt Madeline her Diahann Carroll and Diana Sands grew up together in Harlem I can remember some of the stories about three beautiful intelligent talented young black girls growing up in the Renaissance of Harlem with Big Dreams. my aunt Madeline died a few years ago but I know though she might have been just as talented as the other two she fulfilled her dream of being an educator a wife and a mother as well as being crowned Mambo Queen. now all three of those same little girls will forever be on the steps of Heaven/ Harlem laughin and catching up as they once did. Rest in peace to the last of the Renaissance babies. PLEASE GD LET US KEEP Cicely Tyson at least another few years
Ohmygoodness. She’s so beautiful and talented. Thanks for showing us this piece of history!

R.I.P Diahann carroll.
This is how when I was growing up I got exposed to modern day and Broadway tunes.
She has always been one of the most stunningly beautiful women... Ever!
RIP DC❤🙏🏾
Elegance, beauty and class personified
This broadcast was called “The Hollywood Palace” because it originated from Hollywood, an affluent neighborhood and entertainment district in the Los Angelos, California suburbs. Hollywood was a particularly desirable location for filmmaking because of it’s year-round warm and sunny climate.
Thanks for showing this piece of History I was born in 1963 so even if I did see this I don't remember it my memory starts at about Age 4 too Legends Stevie Wonder /Diahann Carroll I do remember seeing the Hollywood Palace when I was 5 / 6 years old but I didn't have the attention span to pay that much attention
@ 51:54 THAT dress omg🤩🤩🤩🤩 she looked so graceful in all of these outfits and the way she spoke was so elegant.
This is incredible and so rare to find video of Judith Jamison and George Faison from their time dancing with the Ailey Co.
man these two live birds need to be married. dihann and Stevie are absolutely fabulous.❤️❤️💜💛👊💗
Fun fact this performance actually started the relationship between him and Sergio Mendes they corresponded and wrote songs for each other inspired by each other don't you worry about a thing is one of them
those Thomas Paine words written about the American Revolution spoke to my heart
Nice upload! I wonder if TCM is going to do a Diahann Carroll tribute and show her some of her movies back to back to back like they do many famous actors/actresses when they pass away? Going on 6 days and nothing yet from them...RIP
@@TheJoaniejoancansew I guess she wasn't a big enough talent in their eyes...smh
@@IceManLikeGervin i never expected TCM to celebrate our actors. I am very disappointed in our so called "stations geared towards African-Americans" have NOT paid homage to none of our great men and women in theatre.
@@TheJoaniejoancansew During February they show black movies. What stations are geared towards black people? BET is owned by Viacom.
@@IceManLikeGervin i didn't say owned, i said geared. A huge difference.
Theres BET, Bounce, TVOne, and I'm missing 2 other channels. Nobody has done a salute.
Diahann and Diana (Sands) were great friends.
Bae 🌹
I remember
Fun fact Madonna had a scholarship and danced with the Allen Alley ensemble
I wanna event a time machine and go back to the 70’s to marry Diane Carrol
Claudine' as a kid, my favorite 🔥
Choreography brilliant display by artistry
Beautiful theatrical classic beauties
Okay musicheads the song Stevie Wonder and Diahann were singing. Is that done by Sergio Mendez?
Every bit of this is relevant to this day lmao
Black culture at it's finest: Diahann Carroll and the Alvin Ailey dancers. I love our people in this era. Now all we have is the rap crap and bad reality TV.
Do you know she wrong for that she's being a real cougar on the stage cuz Stevie little Stevie was only about 18 at this time the songs in the key of life I believe he did when he was 23
Historically Glory Gloria
dihann did so.much of jazz fused than major pop.tunes,if she use it in a jazz fused way.😅😅😅😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😉😂😂🤣
I used to use White owls too but not with the tobacco inside it lol
Classy lady. I preferred her acting over her "lily white" singing voice.
ya kutuvia..
I wonder if Stevie got nervous during that performance seeing all them White folks looking at him?
Stevie didn't SEE anything at all, during this performance or any other one. Duh.
@@Martydoessykes - it got your notice, and a response. I call that "mission accomplished".
I remember this performance as a child. She was beautiful, elegant and talented. RIP Ms. Carroll and 🙏🏽 to her family.
