- Removing the instrument cluster from a 2001 W210 E-Class Mercedes using Special Tools 140 589 02 33 00. The cluster is easily removed by lowering the steering wheel and using the Special Tools and rocking each side out gently. This will give you plenty of room to press the small locking tabs and press the gray levers down to eject the two connectors from the harness. The bulbs can be changes easily from the back of the cluster. There are gauges are illuminated with 1.3W bulbs, with the main speedometer has a 2W bulb. There are two red (rot in German) that are 1.5W and the lamps behind the main Multi Function Display are two 1.3W.

@lmo1131 BTW - I am getting a manicure today. Would you like me to post a new vid afterwards?
Next time try talking your way through the repair. Where are you hooking and turning the tool, is there any visual indication as to tool hook placement?
how many bulb in this cluster... dealer diagrams doesn't show... Thanks in advance
Pretty much a waste of time. Close ups of the surface of the dash, and the backs of your fingers weren't really that helpful.. ..
Hi I find this very helpful. I want to replace my cluster because the one I have is in miles and I have one in kilometres, will the car start after I have changed?
Yes, it will start. The cluster has nothing to do Drive Authorization System. The odometer will display what it did when it was removed from the previous vehicle.
@lmo1131 I thought you would find my hands sexy, no?
do you have to disconnect the battery first??
Tony There is no need to disconnect the battery first.
