Early Rattay - Secrets, Hidden dialogue, and How to Roleplay | Did you know?

  • "Kingdom Come:Deliverance" contains many hidden dialogue and secret options that you won't run into if you treat it as a straightforward game where you only follow quest directives. It pays to talk to everyone, pay attention fo passing conversations, and treat the world as a real entity rather than a collection of quests.
    This is the part covering the early game in Rattay after recovering from your injuries. You're now pennyless, in debt to Miller Peshek and the Apothecary, and have no source of income. Can Henry get out of this pickle? We cover the best way to approach the game with roleplaying in mind.
    Be sure to take your time and pay attention!

    ========================================
    What's a "let's roleplay"? A roleplay is an attempt to play the game from the character's perspective. Games often have limitations in how they can portray the world and how they allow players to interact with them. Doing a roleplay means taking actions in line with what that character would know, taking the world and story seriously, and interact with the world in ways that are consistent with it even if the game systems can't enforce that.

    Luck of the drunk is the best perk in the game, I can easily open very hard locks even with the hardcore debuff to lockpicking (shakes), robbing the very hard chests that the shopkeepers have gives you a fortune early on. Without luck of the drunk the game is such a drag, can't even open the monastery locks that late into the game.

      Agreed! At first I thought it was just a gimmicky perk that just made the actual lockpicking game easier. Also, for the EASIEST start to the game, in Skalitz, just stealth knock out villagers anywhere on the outskirts of town, pick all the herbs, and sell everything, you can't sell them in Skalitz, but you can store the stuff in your chest in your house that you get the nails from, but you have to get the stuff out of it before the part where you bury your parents, or it'll be lost.

It is hard, when i return from the forest to a village or castle, and at first everything is blurry, same for the npcs. and then, bit by bit, they are getting better and better texture xD it breaks with the immersion but it's funny to watch the fine woven cloth develop its textures on Hans Capon for example. Or watch the Rattay town hall be a beige block, then be a slightly darker beige block with shadows that grows timber frame work, and suddenly it has windows and finally becoming light red and greenish on one side - oh hell, i need a new hardware setup xD

      I role-played as "poor Henry", so I was doing things like collecting mushrooms to sell to buy beer. Basically drinking away his memories of Skalitz.
      At the time mushrooms sold for a fair bit more, but that was patched later. There should still be a massive mushroom field on the forest road to the executioner's hill.
      But ultimately I roleplayed as a travelling merchant, learning to read and gather herbs to sell for money. Basically I did all the quests that are available at the start before I went to Radzig.

    I'm fairly certain that paying the apothecary settles the debt with Peshek as well. I've always paid the apothecary directly and I never even knew about the debt collectors. And I've played through the game at least 15-20 times. Anyone else can confirm?

    • @SequentialGamer
      @SequentialGamer  Před 2 lety +2

      The debt to the apothecary is different from the debt to Peshek. If you don't do the ring quest for Peshek or pay him off directly you'll eventually get the debt collectors.
      AFAIK the apothecary doesn't do anything if you don't pay him back, it's more a question of you roleplaying Henry's honour.

    • @the5thmusketeer215
      @the5thmusketeer215 Před 5 měsíci

      Yes, like you, I also paid the Apothecary directly & - if you do Peshek’s ring from the Executioner quest - Peshek never mentions your debt to him again… Logically, in real life, being the shrewd rogue that he is, Peshek would recoup any money that you owed him, BEFORE he paid you any reward money for the quests you do for him. 🤷🏻‍♂️
      As for the Apothecary’s debt… I actually ended up paying that TWICE….. There’s a really frustrating bug in the game that - when it crops up - prevents you from being able to get anything repaired at any of the shops. One of the suggested fixes for the bug involved taking the (potentially risky!) step of deleting all of your game saves… Not only did that supposed fix NOT work, but when I next visited the Apothecary, the dialogue option to repay my debt to him had reappeared, so I ended up paying him again. ☹️ Fortunately, I was a bit wealthier by then, so 50 Groschen wasn’t the hugely significant sum that it certainly is when you first arrive as a pauper in Rattay - & I also found the PROPER working solution to that bug a day later. 😊👍

      i usually play main quest until i need to go hunting with capon.
      and leave capon waiting forever while i stroll around the woods hunting meat illegaly and bandits to get money to buy myself a horse.
      if you continue main quest after that point.
      lots of the quest can be failed becuase oyu are not there but quest continues without you anyway.

    • @SequentialGamer
      @SequentialGamer  Před 13 dny +1

      Because Henry's a dumb arse who lost his lord's sword, he's trying to get it back before his lord finds out about it. Radzig being so helpful is very contrived and frankly forced by the game's plot. Normally something like that would see someone like Henry at best get on Radzig's bad side and at worst punished for it. They even talk about how Henry's getting promotion despite being an incompetent sod when he goes to Radzig the first time.
      The roleplay is that he tried and failed to find Runt by himself so he goes to Radzig when he's got no other option left. But that's just a retrospective excuse to go running around as a peasant, personally I find a lot of the early quests to be more fitting if you're Henry the peasant desperately trying to make your way in the world rather than Henry the favourite of Sir Radzig and the local nobility. Makes quests like trying to help the refugees fit better.

      Sure, it's pretty easy to make money if that's the goal. Another way is to go to Skalitz and loot armour from the enemies that die from the NPC clashes, it's usually high level armour so you can make 10s of thousands per day risk free.
      But In my case I'm applying house rules and roleplaying. For example, I can't loot armour from corpses because it would take a few hours to do that. I have to buy armour for Henry because it needs to be fitted to his size. And my Henry refuses to steal for profit because of moral reasons. It's pretty fun IMHO and more realistic.
