The original show had a hyper feminine fashion and for some reason Fate is afraid of that. Why can’t they blend the dark and edgy vibes with some cute girly fashion? Why are we afraid of hyper femininity ? I get that not everyone would like it but it’s winx a show that originally had cute girly fashion which is why people fell in love with it. Let bad ass women be feminine come onnnn
i saw an interview with the showrunner from before the 1st season (a man) and it really was giving misogyny with how he was speaking about the og show and how feminine it was
"Do Revenge" proved that exact point.
This! I loved that the cartoon had these confident girls rocking crop tops and kicking butt in heels without being over sexualized or made to feel like they couldn't enjoy their hyper femininity. I was ready for some bright, fun, fantasy-esque clothing, which made more sense when you remember that they maintain so much (even their looks) with magic. Flora without pinks and greens? A whole tragedy.

but you can’t lie BEATRIX had the best outfits in the show imo. Beatrix and Stella had a lot potential but they had to do her the worst way. Stella had some of the best outfits too. Really wish they dove in Stella and Bloom relationship more tbh
omg yes i loved beatrix’ outfits the most defo and i loved stella’s as well especially that dress at the end where she’s crying over bea’s body… tbh they would have made the hottest power couple n the best dressed ones too

Beatrix was the best character, let's be honest. Everyone (with that i mean "her friends") treated Aisha like crap, our "heroines" were more like mean bitches that are hard to stan (not impossible, but common BLOOM??), Sky was kind of lame and shit (hated that "love" triangle). Beatrix was the only one that actually was doing her "original" role and slaying. Even i started to stan RIVEN, the asshole character, because he did his role well. In this show, i'm on the evil side.
I hope we see more Stella and Bloom
I wish everybody was dressed like Beatrix. It's crazy how an original character got more Winx vibes... than the supposed-Winx...
Fun fact: The medieval print on Bloom's black top is actually the tarot card of The Empress, which represents maternity, while the whole point of this season was for Bloom to meet her birth mother in the Realm of Darkness. It seems as though the designers might've maybe put some actual thought into the outfits this time?????
Also Flora's outfit at the end did absolutely slay and def when this show's casual fashion peaked.

They should’ve made it WITCH franchise than Winx aesthetic is very off for Winx franchise they do nailed the WTCH and their powers and everything is actually more like WITCH rather than Winx as a Winx franchise I hate it winx was never about casual chic it was always about opulence,dramatic,fantasy mix of modern and renaissance art pop of pastels and silhouette you’d only see on a Avant-garde runway, for me as someone who have work in the fashion industry who uses lot of Winx references in my days as a fashion student it just disappoints me
As a fat person I was so excited to see a badass plus-size fairy in shiny fantasy outfits. Apart from the whole art direction of the show, they really do Terra dirty with these clothes. She could have worn a pretty elegant dress and still be a cute gardener. Why can't we have nice things.
yeah! even if they chose this boring palette they still could've given us some cottage core type of dress that would fit the old school idea of fairies and fir their show aesthetic

It's important to show that plus size people can be fashionable too, especially when everyone else around them is meant to be fashionable.
they defo also missed an opportunity to show character development with terras wardrobe this season - as she comes more to terms with her sexuality and develops feelings for the specialist girl they could have shown her wearing a little more fitting clothes while still keeping terras preference for comfortability there e.g. tighter fitting long sleeve with some looser, wide leg overalls- it would still give her this protection/sense of safety with the overalls but some experimentation with the tighter top.
they could've really played with it and still dressed her in a way that would be stylish and/or interesting

@@francescapatti2934 they should have just had each actress shop for themselves to be really honest. They missed a huge opportunity to give the show a fresh, unique feeling since they weren't going to replicate the original outfits anyway
I feel like aisha should have had heels too because i really love the matching set because it kinda reminds me of late 90s and early 2000s black streetstyle and thats what aisha especially embodies in the orginal
yeah, I really like the set, it just needs a bit more if it's gonna be a formal outfit

Terra looks like she just got out of bed. If you’re going to put her in a suit make it well tailored and cute like a nice fun, Wildfang suit with a more feminine patern. I didn’t watch the show but it’s weird to change her style because she came out. I mean I did make bad fashion choices when I first came out but that’s besides the point. Fashionable Femmes exist. I still feel like I see outfits that would better fit the creative direction of the show and the original characters vibes everyday on the internet and yet the show still misses the mark.
yeah they really went for a stereotypical lesbian look with her. i totally agree on the suit - the actress is plus sized but she’s also petite and it feels like the wardrobe department forgot about that?? the blazer should have been defo shorter and more structured around the shoulder area
Also, for me it feels like they went for "big girl has to use baggy clothes" stereotype. They are doing her d i r t y.

Terra's outfits make me so sad, we never have overweight ppl wearing beautiful garments, and now that she came out they're gonna go for the stereotype.

When I saw Bloom in that blue dress I screamed!!! FINALLY, THIS IS WHAT I WANTED!! I definitely think both the show and the fashion has improved by they still have a Loooonnnggg way to go.

It literally took me a couple of seconds to google plus size gowns and there were so many beautiful ones, so i know they didn't even try.

I liked that they took some complaints into consideration, however, it’s still not good. They should have adapted WITCH if they wanted to do something practical yet fashionable. Although, WITCH has better outfits than Fate.
Flora has gotta be the best character alongside Beatrix this season. I like how nice Flora is and Beatrix is the only character I liked in the first season and it made me sad that she died in the end.
I hate that they had to make Terra both the stereotypical Plus size character and token lesbian character mostly because they want to win diversity points. I like her coming out scene, but her outfits got worse enforcing negative stereotypes.
yeah, it would just make so much more sense... they are LITERALLY elemental "fairies", they have portals too, and a damn red head ahahah

Absolutely tragic
bloom, stella, musa, bea and flora wardrobes definitely improved this season even with some callbacks to the og show in terms of colours and silhouettes but i was kind of dissatisfied with with styling for aisha and terra it really shows that the stylists don’t know how to dress mid and plus sized women - either they choose clothes for them like they are in their 30s/40s or the pieces they choose are somewhat youthful but the fit is off or the clothes are styled in an odd way like the paloma wool swirly top with the house of sunny-like dress on aisha (technically trendyish pieces but styled like a 40 year old)
I felt really bad for Terra’s outfits. All the girls were dressed in really funky clothing while Terra just had a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. It was like the set designers called it a day
I'm pretty sure they "killed" Belatrix off after forming a relationship with Stella is so that when she is brought back by Darkar and reunited with her sisters, it will make it harder for Stella to want to fight her in the future. You sort of figure that out at the end when she visits her grave
They mentioned Beatrix has 2 sisters so I think they'll bring back the Trix with Beatrix being Stormy

I did like noticing the difference in blooms style, the blues and greens felt like the production team had listened to criticism and based her a bit more off her original version
I also noticed that this season they put her in more crop tops and flared jeans which reminded me a bit of blooms first outfit with the cropped blue/yellow top with the flared jeans and sandals
And also that bloom rewore that big furry jacket which idk if she did this with other clothing items also but it could show that she wasnt like the other girls and probably doesnt update her wardrobe as often due to her being from another realm or something?
I feel like blooms wardrobe this season while not being amazing kinda had a bit more thought into the meaning of her style compared to the other girls and i have seen someone in these comments say that even the top she wore in the last episode had something to do with tarot cards and her story which is really cool

I would say that you right about everything on their outfits it’s really important to add styles from the cartoon. Shows like Bridgerton with the costumes and environment really makes the show visually amazing to watch. I would love to see that happen to Winx Fate Saga. And you was definitely right about their outfits are like the girls from W.I.T.C.H.
the atmosphere also fits W.I.T.C.H. better
hannah (who plays stella) is SO stella in the interviews i've seen, it's insane. she's chatty, she can serve a look, she seems to have a really good chemistry with a lot of other cast members. like she IS what i would imagine stella to be like in real life. let her style herself and write her own dialogues at this point. the only thing i wish they kept is the extensions. i know hannah wears a bob in day-to-day life but it just doesn't work for stella, in my opinion. they gave bloom (mismatched) extensions this season when she didn't need them yet chopped stella's hair? make it make sense
while we're on this hair topic, i really don't like what they did to musa. the iconic bangs are back but they look like musa's mind powers gave her a mental breakdown at 3 am and all she had was kitchen scissors? also the actress looked really cute with long pigtails in the first season, why would they give her space buns all the time here? to resemble musa's s1-s2 short hair? ALSO when she wore that party attire, her hair was down and it looked like a wolf cut which would make SO much sense for musa as a character. if you don't want to give her pigtails, give her a wolf cut with some wispy bangs, i BEG
and lastly, if they add tecna in future seasons, i hope they stick to a short haircut and not her enchantix mullet because i feel like it's so easy to f up this hairstyle in the life action
That’s exactly what I think about Stellas actress too! If they’ll give her extensions; they need to be a lot better than season 1 tho.

I miss the OG Animated Series. I rewatched it recently and it (mostly) holds up. Also, the outfits.
Definite kudos to the costume department, they dressed them more like modern teens especially considering the budget and the tone direction of the show. But Terra’s??? My presentation is gender nonconforming, androgynous fashion so I know they can do it better. Especially since she’s the only plus size girl, it feels dirty they didn’t put more care into her looks. She coulda been that Butch baddie 😤

I assume Beatrix is going to be resurrected by the shadow thing teased at the end of the series. This series is the kind of thing I just binge watch because it isn’t the highest quality but Beatrix is my favourite character. I enjoy how she seems to be observing with the audience and finding the other characters really stupid. If Bloom wasn’t a selfish idiot and about to risk the lives of thousands of people to save her boyfriend, Beatrix wouldn’t have died. And her eliminating the boyfriend was a boss move imo

I’m really tempted to film a video titled “Reviewing Fate Winx Saga Season 2 fashion without actually watching it ” 😂 from what I’ve seen so far Stella’s costume design and Blooms kinda improved

You should watch it, it’s a pretty entertaining watch even if it doesn’t have the strongest writing
i feel like in overall they're kind of reacting to people's critiques about season 1. except for the weird direction they took with terra and aisha's underwhelming outfits, they're starting to feel more like actual characters and not models for a basic line from a generic fast fashion brand. now you can like them or not, but atleast sense slowly more thought put into their outfits. i also love how they're referencing og's hairstyles like musa's high short ponytails with her bangs (even if those specific bangs aren't the most flattering for the actress) or with flora having her high buns like her enchantix or believix. i would also love to see bloom with her iconic bangs but that's such a tiny detail lol
overall, i think people should stop expecting them to look like y2k queens in glittery tight skirts and dresses and super high boots. i'd love that for sure, but we have enough to assume the artistic and fashion direction of the overall show, and personally i can tolerate more earth-y tones as long as they keep improving on providing all of the characters with an actual style. after all it's not exactly the og winx cartoons, i'd love it if they surprise us with more y2k whatever more similar to original outfits for season 3, but honestly as long as they keep lowkey experimenting with everyone's wardrobes (and give some justice for terra, oh my god) it'll be enough, atleast for me. the plot is not the best thing ever but i'm truly enjoying it, in general it feels like a really nice improvement from season 1.
All the relationships/friendships seem premature is because there is so much going on in just a little amount of time. For a fantasy series like this it needs more episodes for everything to develop more organically, plus world building as well.

One of my MAJOR gripes with the costume design is that it ages the characters so much. Like the scene where they went to the bar and were drinking and doing adult things, I didn’t even think anything of it cause that’s what you’d expect adults to do. But that’s the problem, they’re not adults they’re teenagers. And it took Sebastian (or whatever his name was) pointing out that they were teens for me to even remember.

i'll always be sad about the Winx live-action being made this way... it could've been so impactful. I'd just imagine it as a mix between Euphoria's best fashion moments and The Rings of Power magical world. So sad it will never happen. A Winx remake without the original aesthetic makes no sense in the first place just because it was one of the most important things of the og show.
edit: it also makes me sad that we'll never see an Asian actress for Musa and Tecna being there from the start. Btw, Aisha wearing a jacket from Sex Education's high school? like wtf, that crossover makes no sense, WHERE'S THE MAGICAL WORLD!!??.
Musa actress is actually Majority Asian mixed with white ! Shes just the wrong ethnicity-sadly as the og Musa is east asian coded specifically chinese…
As an half south east asian (Filipino) and half south west asian (Arab) myself, I noticed that Elisha Applebaum looked Middle eastern and later on as I did researched, she is one.
In her Instagram, you can see that she is middle eastern and speaks fluent Hebrew which is an israeli confirming that she is a west asian woman… Her background in the resume says that she is an mixed ethnic.
The only reason why people thinks she is white is because of the term “Caucasian” here in the US race census, Arab people are mot considered people of color due to some weird reason of Immigration purposes ( a little history abt west asian people / arabs being white was because of a relligion debate of wether jesus is white or middle eastern-) Anyways caucASIAN does not = white at all because they are an asian ethnic group from the caucaus region. Caucasian was a stolen term by a German who used their identity as a racial classification. Back to Elisha ethnicities, She is also 1/4 singaporean as well which is 25% south east asian but that doesnt do her any Justice at all… Im just glad to know that Elisha applebaum is a still a person of color regardless of the asian ethnicity she had, she may be seem white passing in some terms which I agree but also overall I think we can say that she is still visibly seen mixed at the same time due to her racial ambiguity.
Edit : again as an half (south) west asian , I just wanted to share that awareness because I was confused why people say Shes white when Shes majority mixed and I fee like that was ignorant of people. Not gonna lie I was a little Happy to find out that she has the same asian ethnicity as me but still dissapointed on how shes not chinese or fully asian just because she was the closest cast they have with a “British” accent yet Flora doesnt have one…

@@mediteate4847 no you are right, they dont look as somewhat the asian we expected her to be because she isnt fully asian, Shes still mixed white, I personally dont know what her percentages are in terms of her asian ethnicity (maybe only 1/3) as I rlly dont know her DNA lmao but its good to keep in mind that she isnt just white because she is mixed so Shes still considered a person of color because of her ethnicity 🥲

For the dinner scene I wish they used and modified the girls' dresses from the school dance from season 1 and Aisha's in season 3. They would have slayed, especially Stella

I feel like this is an example of a show whose creators actually listened to some of the criticisms and made adjustments. They definitely made an effort to refer to the og show more (for example, (SPOILERS!!!) the army of darkness and witches summoning monsters, Bloom's parents, Beatrix having sisters after all etc.). We got some really cool, playful magic scenes, like when they try to help Musa get her powers back or when 3 of them transform. And the added Flora, too! There are still some silly things in terms of writing and the execution of "plot twist" in my opinion, but overall Season 2 was quite enjoyable to watch.
I was ecstatic when I saw Bloom’s blue dress at the Alumni dinner… but everything was RUINED when I saw what they put Terra in. They literally just put an ugly blazer on top of normal clothes.
And don’t even get me started on what Stella was wearing…
I watched Fate season 2 hoping for better fashion… that def didn’t happen. I kinda liked the plot better tho!

I think the shadow will bring Beatrix back to life which is probably why they killed her off despite viewers liking her so much, she was gonna come back anyway (and probably reunite with her sisters and finally be the trix)

On the Beatrix thing I think it might be a set up for a revival/coming back to life arc somehow using Blooms fire powers as like a Phoenix fire of sorts, just a theroy.

For Stella's dress set, I think she should have shown up in a sear gold, floor-length dress that drew inspiration from Marilyn Monroe's famous outfit. I see the neckline not as deep but just as glamorous. It would be highlighted with gold heels and maybe some regal-looking piece of jewelry that just shows her fashionable royalty. She just has that energy if you think about it.
Aisha's set is great. They should have just designed a similar dress to Flora's but more out there in shades of blue, purple, and maybe some green mixed in there for the black tie event.

Honestly I could feel the writers trying to appease all the angry fans that were pissed off about Bloom being in red instead of blue. Man does she wear a LOT of blue in this season. It’s not all necessarily good blue but it does the job to contrast her red hair.

The crazy thing is they still have the opportunity to improve the style and make it kinda iconic.
Someone mentioned that perhaps they didn't change outfits in the transformation since the wings themselves were lost magic, therefore perhaps they only unlocked part of it (only the wings). It would be an acceptable 'save' if they learn more about the transformation and fully unlock it next season, outfit change and I guess more power.
I still have hope that the colorful and glittery Winx will come back. I have a lil idea on this.
The fairies lost an important part of their magic, aka their wings and transformations, not really a happy topic, everyone lost their colors. Even as a kid, I always imagined the fairies being the reason everything is so colorful and confident (since whenever the Trix and witches in general showed up, it was always in a dark and desaturated environment). If their magic is suppressed, then so is their influence.
After (hopefully) unlocking the full transformation, they unlock the true meaning and feeling of being a fairy. I would SCREAM if the transformations were more colorful, glittery, flashy. They would stand out soo much in this 'dark atmosphere' they created. In a sense, the glow they'd admit would seem hopeful, even for the rest of the people.
Now fast-forward a little - learning about their powers, maybe another transformation, more fairies regaining their wings, whatever they want the story to be - the magic and hope grows, and so does the color.
At the beginning of the show everything is dark and gloomy, monster attacks, evil people (they are not having a good time, basically) and at the end of the show everything is colorful, funky, glittery, the wings and transformations are back, evil people got their a-- handed to them. They brought back hope and color to Alfea.
A girl can, at the very least, dream.
Musa's looks were an upgrade compared to last season, they all felt much more in alliance with her cartoon style

Stella, beatrix and floras outfits were my favs in this season. I also liked Aisha’s banquet look actually, even if it was a bit casual, I thought it was super sleek and suit her character.
Musa’s looks definitely had potential and I can see what they were trying to do with her look- but those bangs girl, oh my god. It’s like they were trying to hide her!! But maybe that works with her character arc in this season, being an edgy queen
And don’t even get me started on terra. Just because someone is queer and plus size, does NOT MEAN THEY NEED TO DRESS LIKE A SLEAZY SECURITY GUARD!!

I generally think that there was improvement to the outfits. Musa, Aisha, and Blood (in that order) had the best improvement. Flora generally had the most fitting outfit of this season. Still pissed at how they did Stella and Terra.
My assumption is that they are trying to aim for an awkward masculine leaning(?) wardrobe for Terra but it’s terrible. While I know a lot of people do not like Terra, but her outfits are awful. There is a way to do “awkward” without it looking horrendous. I like they they give her overalls, and jumpsuits, it works for her. Not the best but it works, so I don’t get why they gave her THAT outfit for the dinner event.
Speaking of Dinner Event, Stella’s wardrobe was better this season but still bad. It’s very much “my queen mother picked it for me” which does makes sense but it doesn’t have to be bad. I think during the time when she was getting punished, they could’ve gave her more “mature” outfits like blazers, pantsuits, and long sleeved stuff. More Boxy silhouette to create that 80s businesswoman look. And as the season progresses transition her into more soft, airy silhouette/wardrobe. I just think the wardrobes could’ve meant more for certain characters.
i agree so much on the terra thing like?? they’ve done her SO dirty. whatever you identify as you can STILL style it well but they make zero effort. being gay and/or plus sized doesn’t mean you cannot have style??
but i do think they put stella in such casual/dull outfits for a lot of s2 (even tho i actually thought some of them were rly cute) to really showcase that she wasn’t doing well because she normally does dress quite well and care a lot abt her appearance (eg. the outfit change comment in the pilot episode) and i mean she is literally a princess. but even so, there is just a lot to be desired for almost all the characters fashion wise.
they literally had the perfect chance with a formal event where they really could have put the effort in and it wouldn’t have seemed out of place for them to go over the top with it and even THAT was a let down for most of the characters. don’t even get me started on musas hair there are SO many nicer ways to have bangs
Ppl saying that Stella’s actor is just like Stella and should dress themselves. But no, from what I have seen Hannah are nice and sweet but they made it clear many times they aren’t comfortable with wearing short skirts and dresses “ Stella should have dressed like Beatrix or like Bloom’s dress and skirts” but Clearly with actor having short hair as well as preferring to wear pants and long dresses it makes sense why Stella wardrobe isn’t completely feminine or fashionable as we would expect from her. The other girls have some similarities to their OG counterparts, Bloom wearing blue, Aisha more sporty look, Musa tomboy outfits and Flora with soft look then Stella… I just don’t like it.

i remember when one of the new stylists last year posted on his insta story a fan art of Stella's magic winx i thought the show would've had a HUGE improvement in fashion and style after all the backlash from season 1 but we got the very bare minimum changes...
Beatrix had fab outfits (if u don't count the frizzy half up half down). Blooms outfits were mostly amazing except maybe 1 (same thing goes for Aisha). Stella had the best outfits this season for sure. Flora wore alot of different colors which didn't really make sense because they'd make her wear every color in existence for one outfit, but it didn't look that bad while terra still looks like a 50 year old farmer who's never touched civilization. And Musa... No thanks?

That Stella's dress was HIDEOUS, such a waste of occasion for Stella and Terra. I loved Musa's outfit but I agree about her bangs. I hope that since Stella doesn't care about being the queen anymore she will dress more like cartoon Stella. I like her pink sweatpants, made me think about Paris Hilton or Legally Blonde a little
yeah the new outfits are definitely better, but that dress really disappointed me😭
I'm just glad, they improved with the styling of clothes. Let's hope in season 3 the stylist will blow our minds and be fashion forward!
