#splatoon #splatoon2 #splatoon3 #octoexpansion #sideorder #splatoon3sideorder
And the fact that the side order credits song is called #47 onward...
Marina and Acht reclaiming their past and moving forward
And Eight
That's the English title at least. In the Japanese version it's called #47 slumber. Personally I think I prefer the onward title, but slumber fits the song too.
That's what I love about Side Order. Octo Expansion implied that once they heard the Calamari Inkantation, that was it for their home and friends. Is that really what we wanted for the Octarians, to be left powerless and divided because of a land dispute 100 years ago? (That's seemingly been reversed by now)
No it's because it's the 47th song with the onward motif💀
(it doesn't have it, I think)
The way that you framed it is reminded me how the LGBT community was able to reclaim the world queer. (I’m not gay myself, but I just reminded me of that)
I F*CKING LOVE MOTIFS, I LOVE WHEN A PIECE OF MUSIC IS REFERENCED THROUGHOUT FUTURE SONGS. Bonus points if it's relevant to the plot.
Ok but you gotta admit that the Scrapper Jingle is peak
the scrapper jingle absolutely slaps
technically the scapper jingle does get the bonus points as the Salmonids and Octarian trade with eachother so yea, the reason it has the motifs technically makes sense in lore lol.
My fav is when Link’s theme plays at the boss’s vulnerable part in TP
glad someone else shares the same love for motifs as i do
I love that the Onwards motif is in the Side Order DLC as well
It's so cool cuz the music for the Memverse was presumably composed by Marina (or at least by some AI she created such as Order) so it makes sense why it would sound similar to other Octarian tracks
to me this is like the splatoon jingle
For me is like onward octarian jingle and calamari inkantation inkling jingle
That's always what it's been like to me.
To me it's specifically the octarians, sad that that inklings don't have a motif of their own, tho makes sense why the octos have them and the squids don't, the octos have their own massive community underground basically always connected to each other, while the squids are everywhere on earth with a community bubble everywhere
@@Sercate+ the octoling jingle is basically fly octo fly :)
@@mariotheundyingthe inklings have calimari inkantation
Onward is basically the Splatoon motif to me, and probably a bunch of other people too
More of an Octarian motif
Nah that's calimari inkantion but onward is octarians and octolings
It's the Octavio Army theme.
i’d also say it’s the most recognizable, only rivaled by calamari incantation and the OTH song from side order
Series-onward motif
Squid sisters-calamari inkantation motif
Off the hook-ebb and flow motif
Deep cut-anarchy rainbow motif
If we get a game in the future, since it won't be apart of the octoling story arc I wonder if we'll get a new motif to replace onward
THE SCRAPPER JINGLE TOO?????? HDSKJHFLKJHF THE WAY IT FLIPS UPSIDE DOWN
It's because the salmonids get their equipment from the octarians
This has basically become the motif for Octolings in general and I freaking love it
A bit disappointing that the song literally called #47 onward doesn't have the Onward motif in it
I thought the exact same thing
such a missed opportunity 😔
marina and acht are done with the octarians, wouldn't make sense
ain't that the point
@@JohnSmith-wv5km they ARE octarians tho, they can't just change species, I think you meant done being part of Octavio's army and society (he didn't treat them badly tho according to them, he was nice)
It's very fitting that EchΘ Θnslaught doesn't feature the Octarian jingle, as the enemies are direct scans of Agent 4, who is an Inkling.
Yeah, it kinda sucks that inklings don't have their own motit, because that would be cool
It’s probably known knowledge now, but I read somewhere (so take this with a bit of salt) that side order scrubs your switch for splatoon2 data, and actually models parallel canon as your model for agent 4, e.g the one you chose.
@Murdock1260 It's true my version had the same haircut as my Agent 4. Agent 8 default design also takes from your Octo Expansion data
@@AgentCarter516 maybe calamari inkatation is like the closest equivalent imo
well uhhhhh it vaguely does
2:10 oh no, he fell down.
I never realized the Scrapper's horn was that... 😂
Same, it sounded familiar but I never realized it until now
fun fact: the salmonids buy weaponry from the octarians and repurpose them, and the scrapper uses a repurposed octarian shield.
I can’t believe there’s no Onward leitmotif in #47 Onward
there is but it's just stretched out and choppy up if you listen closely
i remember commenting this on another video but you missed one!! the elevator lobby music for side order also features a slowed down version of the onward motif.
I have not heard that, do you know which elevator song it is? I know there are a few, I never noticed the motif whilst playing
@@komati7046I think it might actually be ever elevator. It’s too slow on the first one for me to say but if you stick the video on 2x speed and use the time stamps it’s actually pretty clear. It’s right at the start
czcams.com/video/Vxj8P-Dio3c/video.htmlsi=GHnPh8BwZmRufJfN
@@komati7046Yeahh there were a few missed from side order lol. For example, 2ouvenir has got a pretty obvious one appox. 45 seconds into it. There was another one in some of the other floor/stage music, but I'd need to listen to them again lol
I felt Splatoon 3 was lacking on this motif.....
Tbf its the only game where the main story isnt about the octarians
While we only got a couple of them, yeah we don’t hear a lot of the music have this motif. Happy to hear more of it tho!
@@somethingspontaneous4982it’s the only game where NONE of the story is about the Octarians😂
@@squidsofty8507 nah you still fight octavio tho, and the fuzzy octarians
@@somethingspontaneous4982but this time is not the octarians who are making trouble
Thanks for reminding me that we got robbed of the last checkpoint music thing
There's also Onward about halfway through Eight-Legged Advance (as a quiet background loop), one in Tidal Rush (more so the rhythm but appears about thirty seconds before the loop), and it appears in every Side Order elevator theme! At least, elevator themes 1-4. Maybe the 5th one too, but I haven't listened to it much. But it's GREAT that you found the more subtle ones that so many people miss like in Octarmaments, and including the Inkopolis Memorial Mixtape!!!!
2:39 My heart sank for a moment as i thought that the composer for WipEout games had done a Splatoon song lol
I hope you all know that the side order elevator theme also has the onward motif just really slowed down
I LOVE MOTIFS SO MUCH THEY’RE SO COOL. And this one is just absolutely amazing. When I started side order I just ran around trying to hear the motif. I was hyped when I heard it during the
marina fight
i kind of just see it as the Octo jingle
especially given its presence in Marina's Ebb & Flow demo and its very prominent role in Octarian bossfights
That’s what everyone sees it as, the title is just where it first came from
ive always been a huge fan of this leitmotif, and the usages of it in the two side order boss themes shown are some of the most joy ive gotten hearing it, not only do i find it delightful to hear it but it also sounds so damn good in the songs!!
I love how the only boss theme that doesn’t have it is Ech0 0nslaught… because Parallel Canon isn’t reminiscent of an Octarian machine, but rather is based on Agent 4 (and possibly the Agent 3 / Inner Agent 3 fights from Octo Expansion)
Great video, but there's one thing you should know: It's called Unsconscience, not Unconscience. It's a pun, you see.
Looks like I was foiled by autocorrect
@@komati7046 boo-womp
This is why it's best to have it turned off, in my opinion
What’s the pun
I dont get the pun either, help is needed
@@raycraft001 Unconscious + sconce + conscience
words can’t describe how much I love any song that has onwards in it im a faithful Octarian soldier
When I heard the motif play during the Marina boss fight of Side Order I flipped my slammin-lid.
Out of all the splatoon leitmotifs this one is my favorite by far
Yooooo I didn’t even hear the motif when I played Side Order!! I love that this motif is everywhere 😮
Never noticed it was the scrapper horn before. Amazing
Actually I think the elevator theme is also basically the onwards motif slowed down
I love how you included both onward motifs in i am octavio not alot of people notice it
How they continue after the motif in Cold Storage is so fascinating, feels like such a natural continuation! Kinda cool that they're still using and building upon it even still now.
I love how among all of the music, the Scrapper Jingle sounds like a car crash
This motif could bring me back from a coma
Anybody hear the theory about how the metallic wisps on Free Association album cover are the souls of the octolings who wish to maintain order and that they in turn are the group Free Association because all Splatoon music is diegetic? This would mean that the motif has been re-appropriated by the "Orderlings" as a symbol of the solace that once came with the regimented octo society. Very strange stuff.
Whenever i think of leitmotif's I usually think of either undertale or deltarune, but this leitmotifs litteraly are the most iconic to me i hum em all the time. Also the best use of this leitmotif( thats not i am octavio ) is 0ct0pic0n
Such a crime they did not have the motif in #47 onward 😩
It seems to be like the Octarian’s main motif
Its like the stage is telling you to complete it and hurry
The stage clear theme in Octo Expansion has the motif
isn't that just just fly octo fly?
@@splattershotnova yeah, but they’re not exactly the same
Excellent video, love hearing them compiled like this! Though you did miss one in Tidal Rush, I realized
omg it’s everywhere lol thanks for making thisssss ❤
I love this video, and I love YOU. Thank you for compiling this short but catchy leitmotif. It’s weirdly danceable, too. It just makes me want to move… onward.
I love how my two most favourite side order song have the leifmotive im a dj octavio simp
I love the little animation for the scapper
the onward part in octopticon is so good
The Bomb Rush Blush one is so good
Wow there’s some I didn’t realise I love it
I've been calling this the "Octarian Motif" up to now for lack of a better name. Love that the Scrapper machine has it too since the Salmonids are using Octarian tech.
Also love that the motif shows up all over Side Order since Memverse was designed by Marina and parameterized by the Octarian Engineers.
I love Splatoon so much
Im going to miss the squidbeak splatoon
In #14 crush by Dedf1sh there's the motif at around 0:30 too :D
that's really cool
I think you are actually missing one here, although its so brief I cant blame anyone for missing it! It plays in one of the songs from the ∞-ball levels (2ouvenir). About 49 seconds in and again at 53 seconds and then a few more times. It plays really fast, like, less than a second each time and they remix it so that it sounds pretty different. I only noticed it today after listening to the songs again!
THE SCRAPPER GETTING FLIPPED-
i think there’s one in 2ouvenir as well :)
THE SCRAPPERR
Splatoon 1 and 2 actually had really good story modes change my mind
Love them all!! Solo modes in Splatoon are so good that I want a game focused on that
People just dislike 2's because it's the same thing as 1, it was disappointment for nothing new + a worse boss fight gameplay wise
@@NL-X to me tbh the campaign is the main thing of the games while the online is an extra thing, honestly hope this is the developer's mentality too
@@mariotheundying not really... Nintendo created this game for the online, and the campaign is supposed to work as a tutorial for the online, since they teach you every weapon and even have an enemy with every weapon for the player to learn how to avoid them. That's why the final boss of the 1st game is the best one for me, because it tests every ability of the player in order for you to be ready for the online.
Octornaments goes so undeniably hard
WOOO YEAH
This is basically splatoons main jingle
The scrapers make the onward motif sound when hit cause the cars are made of used Octarion shields
Holy shit i didn't even notice some of these
Its inclusion in side order makes me wonder if the onward motif was always meant to represent control… or maybe it’s just there to connect the memverse to Marina?
BOM BAM BOM BAMBAM
average scrapper jimgle enjoyer
I never noticed that with the scrappers
2:10 someone flip him over pls ;-;
Octarians use music a lot for their army (idk where i know that from) so this being in every song is Octavio literally telling his troops Onwards !
So this is what that sound is called...
Now there's one more on (Spoilers) Marina's Battle song "Unconscious"
The start of Fly Octo Fly is also based off of Onward iirc.
The elevator theme in side order is a remix of onward’s melody, by the way, since you didn’t include it
The Singleplayer jingle
waiter waiter more onwards please!!
i think you forgot one in Small Order, where its instead played in reverse. (the high notes become low notes, and the other way around)
Where can I download the soundtrack?
Duh-nuh duh-nah-nah 🐙
Ba ba babada
It might also be found at 0:49 in 2ouvenir!
i love splat2's Onward!
echo onslaught has it too
2:30 gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp, gulp gulp gulp gulp gulp
Wait till splatoon 4 adds alot of onward songs. ((I THINK-))
Well, this is fun.
I mean literally very interesting and fun to think about Nintendo tries to make people's attention just simple tunes.
its also in all 3 elevator themes, but the notes are played to the wrong rhythm
The Octarian theme
its turquoise october not turqoise october
I can't believe I missed that, thanks for pointing it out
Пам пам папапам
Actually im prettu sure it aldo appesrs in colour pulse from splat 2 splatfest
Love the video, but it's not all of them, m8.
1:54 YOU CANT CONTEMplate HOW MUCH I LIKE MARINA
I thought of the scrapper jingle as that one tune from OOT, I haven't even played that game- I've played all of the splatoons wtf fake splatoon fan
2:11 *dies*
All rise for the Octarian National Anthem 🐙🐙🐙
Honestly i never hear it in the scrapper, i think people r crazy, its only going between 3 notes, one note, one note a step higher, one 2 steps lower, then back 2 steps up to the same note, and repeats, it does not sound like the onward leitmotif and i will die on this hill. i get where people r trying sooo hard to pull it from, but its not the same
“Every song with the Onward! motif”
*Plays Onward! despite it not having the motif*
Do you not know what a leitmotif is?
@@SnoFitzroy it doesn’t *have* the motif, it *is* the motif
