Love Bomb came second on a music show which was their only nom. until we go era, i'm pretty sure. They continued with their success with their song "FUN!" which is an even more upbeat over the top bubble gum kpop song! However, after fun, their momentum was cut short through the discovery of the rigging scandal of IS and PD101 etc. The rigging of fromis was claimed to be 8/9 members by some random ex-IS trainee but after court documents it was revealed only 3 were rigged into the group. however it was super damaging to the group leading to a 1y8m hiatus. I feel like it's important to note that IS treated the underaged girls horribly (00z, jiheon of fromis) along with the others i think there were other issues involved. Finally they came back with Feel Good (secret code) a retro dance track. This was their first comeback in forever, which was followed by like eight months of no news before we go which almost bagged fromis's first win on Nagyung's birthday but they lost to Everglow, sadly. I mean they were popular and in their prime, but they just fell off the face of the Earth and then had to pretty much wait out their contracts. After School itself had amazing talented singers and again, they just kept waiting for a comeback and never did-- Poor Kaeun, who was actually on PD48 and almost made it, debuted in After School with one comeback and then they just never reappeared- She even talked about it on the show. She got so screwed in some of her PRIME years (since kpop is sooooooooooooooooooo youth obsessed). and then we have PRISTIN!!! WHAT THE FUCK!?!?! The Most mismanaged group that was literally geared to be successful with the popularity of PD101 and the resulting group IOI. A couple of Pristin members were in IOI AND Pledis had teased the girls in some popular showcases before their debut, too. They were decently popular and then they disbanded out of the blue. Yall also know that ALOT of Carats call out Pledis and show their solidarity with the boys over their company's penchant for mismanagement. If Seventeen wasnt EXTREMELY popular, not just as musicians, but for the hilarity of GoSe, I think they would have maybe suffered similarly. I'm also not convinced that they couldn't be even bigger under a different company....like...ok CONTROVERSIAL BUT HONEST OPINION: Seventeen are like so much better than BTS in like...every category. I don't play into fandoms, so I never go around being like "I stan" anything/one, but SVT put out better and more interesting music and have some of the best choreography i have ever seen. It's not a disparagement of BTS, they are good at stuff, but their music is so bland to me at this point- especially their English titles all start blurring for me, but I feel like SVT can do it all: Cute, Hard, Soft, Scary, "street", fantasy, nautical, vintage- like name a concept they HAVEN'T pulled off. AGAIN- IT'S MY OPINION. YOU'RE WELCOME TO DISAGREE. Anyways, they have 4.5 members with International appeal (does Hoshi even count? it's just his stage name (Hoshi means star in japanese), but he also always does the Japanese thank yous and speaks well...anyways, i put him as the .5) and more members than average to ogle over- and among them, there's something for everyone with so many unique looks/styles and personalities. I'm just sayin, it's weird that theyre not as big internationally as I think they could be. So in conclusion, as a fan of Fromis_9 since Love Bomb: I'm still worried, but hoping that being under the umbrella of HYBE will ensure that they don't also fall off the face of the earth. They're too good for that! (They all were, but Fromis9 has the most consistent sound and style of any of pledis's previous ggs and really keep putting out great music that you want to put on repeat with really beautiful choreography that always nicely complements their songs- it's always cute, but elegant)
