    This is THE BEST video I have ever seen on woodwork construction. The fast-forwards, the visual cuts, the precise narrative. Every second of my time watching was informative. Thankyou. And now I'm off to try to emulate what I've just seen.

  • @MrClarkisgod
    @MrClarkisgod Před rokem +34

    I followed this build about 2 years ago. Today bottom fell out because the long strips on the bottom weren't heavy duty enough. Either not enough screws, not enough glue, or even the wrong kind of screws maybe. I checked the other 2 I built and they are also about to fail. So make sure you really beef up the bottom end of this build. Side note. We also got an absolutely crazy amount of heavy rain yesterday.
    I'm going to salvage what I can and redo the bottom end with through bolts and a whole 2x4, not just a little strip. I hope this helps others. Again... no hate on this guy. It was likely my mistake somewhere and probably incorrect hardware for the application.
    Great video. I watched it again. I needed to do more on the bottom end for sure.

      While you're at it. Make a box for the center or the 8' long sides will bow out for sure. Not just saying.. I'm building this as we speak.

    • @RichyN25
      @RichyN25 Před měsícem

      I'd think for something that big a 2x4 aligned flat against the walls should be a good ledger board for the floor, those little strips are definitely too thin for such a large and heavy box, and are the clear weak point.

    • @jbradshaw7
      @jbradshaw7 Před 5 dny

      I spotted that as the weak point, OK for dry soil but wet no.

    I just finished making this myself, first real woodworking project.
    I do wish a little more time was spent on showing the dimensions of the boards and the final product as you were going along, but I respect that you wanted a snappy and quick video. Most of the information I needed was here and in the plans, though as a first project I had to learn a lot on my own (like how 1x6 boards are actually 0.75x5.5, as with the others). But it was fun that way: I only had one sawhorse and lots of clamps instead of the very nice looking table you have, definitely can see how an investment in that would save a whole lot of time on future projects.
    Thanks for the video, it's allowed me to confidently make an actual garden for my apartment's patio, I'm very happy with how mine turned out :)

    The Plastic Liner could cause Funal growth and such undesirables.

    Rain Water and Irrigation Sprinklers etc do cause the wood to get damp but it dries out quickly especially in Summer.
