Wow! Who was the genius at Nikon who thought to put these two legends together? Absolutely brilliant. By far, two of the best inspiring educators and artistic photographers in the industry. As a hobbyist photographer the last 10 years, I've learned the most from this pair. On screen they go together like Abbott & Costello; Starsky & Hutch; George & Gracie. Both are impeccably courteous, witty, incredibly gifted, and have a mutual admiration and respect that is a joy to watch. Like no one else, they intelligently articulate the very important subtleties in photography that have a huge impact. You're so enamored with watching these two play off of each other that you don't even realize they are pushing Nikon products. To me, that is the best kind of advertising. Judging by the comments, sounds like I'm not alone when I beg for more of these tag-team vignettes! Again, well done Nikon and Messieurs McNally et Ghionis.

Nikon - Awesome, awesome awesome video! Of course I am a Nikon owner and shooter with a lot of bodies and lenses (D70 D90 D3400, D7100 D7200 (have 2 of each for const inspection photography) D500, D750 D850. had a D3s but sold to start getting more into video. Thanks for bringing two great Masters of our Craft together to make this awesome video. I would include Joe Buissink and Joel Grimes in with Joe and Jerry,. But aside from amazing shots of each, you could not have done better to capture Joe's statement at the end to state at the end of the day, we tell stories!
I'm a photog who started in the film days and left photography for a very successful career and started my own business in civil construction and real estate development. It was only after my partners and I purchased an 8 unit strip mall to flip that fate had other plans for me. I took over a failed swimwear company in the one unit. I was quickly forced into digital photography after two scam photographers who were the cause of the former company going under just to get images of the inventory to sell and liquidate for the flip. They didn't have a business license, engaged in tax evasion, the underground economy, violated 3 provisions of consumer law in Ohio under estimates, deposits and the top being one sided contracts. They further attempted to use copyright law in their favor to exploit area businesses with ungodly fees, usage fees and licensing. They took me to court when I refused to pay their extortion usage and licensing fees. With no attorney I beat them. Of course I had the help of a number of State agencies and the IRS who I turned them into for their crimes. In the end, the IRS and the State Dept of Taxation seized all personal and business assets and sold them off The city prosecutor as well at as the State Attorney General also sought charges of deceptive business practices, along with my counter suit, which I was awarded $100K after attorney fees. 90% of that was then donated back the the former owner, a single mother with 3 kids who started a swimwear business to supplement her income and support her kids. At least 12 other area businesses came forward to also file a class action suit against these two so call photogs. After losing everything, (cameras, gear, homes, cars, personal items and both of their wives sought divorce) they were both sentenced to 5 years in prison for tax evasion, racketeering and other consumer crimes.
I share this story because tons (the majority of camera owners I look up who are charging for photography services are doing it illegally... no business registration license, no IRS or state tax account, failing to abide by consumer & business law) and merely think taking a photo is art, rather than like these two masters mastering the craft. I would remind folks of Nikon shooter, Andrea Polito, Dallas, TX wedding photog who sued her clients for defamation a few years ago. Yes, she got lucky and won that suit. However, what the masses of photogs failed to see was on page 15 of the Appeals Court Memorandum Decision, by Justice Stoddard... "In sum, the contract did not allow the Moldovans to simply purchase “their” pictures and immediately obtain full rights to own and reproduce them, regardless of any dispute about an album." A one sided contract that is prohibited by law. In short, learn from these two masters and learn the ART of storytelling with your images! If you engage in business with your photography, be legit business and follow the law!
Today, some 15 years later, I am still still designing and shooting my own fashions as well as other project. Joe's statement at the end is something I learn way about in the late 80's while taking photography in high school and college. It is truly sad to watch people with cameras bash others especially those with cell phones and point & shoot cameras, as well as those who are new to photography. Regardless of if you are taking a selfie, a shot of the pet, your kids, a flower, the sunset, or doing more commercial types of photography, at the end of the day we are photographers capturing a moment in time to tell a story. It is only when you have mastered your craft that you become an expert like Joe McNally and Jerry Ghionis.
Therefore, I am linking and sharing this video and kindly borrowing (stealing...lol) Joe's segment at the end to promote Nikon gear and hopefully sharing Joe's words will help teach new photogs that we are telling stories rather than shooting half nude or fully nude females, converting to B&W and saying the crappy image is art! That is what landed those two so -called photogs in prison 15 years ago. I will be reaching out to Nikon USA and Joe to seek the appropriate permissions.
Thanks again for bring two masters together to show off the Z7 and their masterful talents! Awesome job Joe, Jerry and Nikon!

Two masters, and we know that because the camera was the least part of the shoot. It's their vision, concepts, and skills that make the magic happen. I'd take their skills and a D800 any day, over any new camera. The camera only matters at the instant of clicking the shutter. All the rest that comes from the mind and heart .... now, that's photography!
