Ariana Grande has one of the prettiest voices of her generation. But the band just swallowed her up in this performance. And there are timing & control issues too.
You can rightly feel her nerves... I don't blame her at all but she held her own for such a young vocalist ... I give her props
I believe ariana was sick here and this was a poor performance. However, Ariana performed this on the Honeymoon Tour and trust me IT IS SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER.. you should check it out

I love charice, but ariana can do so much better nowadays. She was nervous as well. Her performance in i have nothing with david foster was so much better. But yeah, ofcourse charice if we are talking about whitney cover, shes one of the best! Charice also had better performance where she was being herself more without trying to sound like whitney in 2010.

I think this performance compared to charice is more like "pretty" but it lacks power and technical ability. Charice's perdormance however is more powerful in terms of depth of voice and range. Charice is comparable to whitney in terms of soul and vocal ability. Ariana's ability is comparable to Rihanna because it is more current and marketable.

I think she sounded amazing. I think the reason why she didn't perform as much with "power" was because she didn't want to be compared to Whitney. She always does impressions of Whitney, and so I think she just wanted to "make it her own. I think anything else would of been trying to "copy" Whitney. Everything she does is always compared to someone else. I think she rocket it. But then again that is my opinion.

Ariana has a beautiful voice, but this song truly demands the soul and depthness of the singer. And what made Whitney Houston a timeless singer is that she didn't only belt the song because it needed a huge voice, but because you can feel her heart in it and it's like she ate every word and note of the lyrics.
So in a sense this song did not fit Ariana for me.

I don't think at all this was a bad performance I mean yes she was a little winded but you could tell she was sooo nervous she said later In an interview that it was the most nervous she's ever been for a performance she has a couple other videos of her singing I have nothing and showing a lot less nervousness this had nothing to do with her vocal range or her power this was solely based on nervousness Ariana grande is my favorite singer of all time and I'm going to defend her as much as I can.

I don't think it's too big for her, it's just that she lacked energy, she hit the high notes but for some reason, there is no power nor resonance in it. She also sounds bored and so over it which is sad because this is such a big event. Had she prepared well for this, I believe she can nail the song.

Ariana was off course nervous. However, Ariana from then to now. She is on another level off course. You need to let people grow. She came out of the door being this big vocalist. However, listen to her do this same song now. She can do it with ease & with that power. Putting that aside. I don't hear any other young vocalist in the business topping Ariana right now. Pitch perfect, effortless & will leave you in aw every single time. These days with her choreography & so many other elements too. Just having fun also. Oh & don't forget those intense heels. As Nicki Minaj said "Ariana run pop". Don't care what the charts say. We know the best rarely actually top the charts. So her being in contention is big in itself. Sad that music is that way but big because it shows her power & that people wanting quality(real talent) isn't dead.
