    It would be more historically accurate if you were mowed down as soon as you spawned because a lot of people were killed as soon as the bay door dropped

    I'm personally looking forward to larping like this being a viable option for fun gameplay, unlike how it is at the current time when you usually need the best stuff to have a chance at winning :L

      absolutely agree. You can win with anything, but it does feel really bad when you run into strong teams and youre just playing with like K98's.

    Thompsons were not standard loudout for infantry squads. The official TO&E would have squads with 11 Garands and 1 BAR. Six submachineguns (M1s or M3s) were issued to each company to be distributed at the company commanders discretion- aka usually before planned assaults which would include urban, wooded or other terrain where close quarter fighting was expected. Of course, in practice, there was a lot of variance. By late 1944 two BARs were basically standard. One platoon is documented as having pooled all its BARs in just one of its three squads (etc. etc.).

    I'm always down for historical accuracy, so I really liked this video.
    As for the loadout ideas, I have a fun one - Volkssturm. Play Berlin Axis with just Volkssturm squads (including the premium one), equipped with a random mix of bolt action rifles, but mostly the Kar98k Kriegsmodell and the VG 2 as well as the MP 3008, EMP 44 and VG 1-5 for assaulters. No binoculars, no flasks, no TNT charges and a random mix of grenades - frag, smoke, molotov, TNT pack or none. And optionally, dressed in the civilian uniforms (IIRC there is one or two appearance options that aren't uniforms but rather period correct civilian clothes).

    I some things to ask and say about the M10 GMC after watching this video. First: Why create and use the M18 Hellcat when the M10 GMC has better armor than it? Second: Even if the M18 Hellcat was faster, the M10 GMC already had great mobility being based on the M4 Sherman. Third: The M10 GMC could have been equipped with electric turret drives instead of simple hand cranks like its successor the M36 Jackson, but why wasn’t that the case? I hope you guys could give some answers.

    • @GFTheWriter
      @GFTheWriter Před 7 měsíci +1

      1st: Disclaimer; This one is pure hindsight. Even if the M10 did have better armor than M18... For the most part, it's not significant. The German didn't put Heavy machine gun on everything like the US did. So basically, when you're facing any vehicles it would be 7.92 that both M18 and M10 could withstand or anything bigger that would instantly blow them both up anyway.
      2nd: While the M10 is not slow, the hellcat is not just faster, it's a lot faster, with way better acceleration. Basically the Hellcat could get into the position way faster than one would expect a 'tank' could do, and an unexpected strike is always a powerful strike. And the acceleration of the M18 could make it maneuver a lot better for repositioning the position, baically you can't hit what's not there anymore. But this would also depend on the user. Some units prefered the M18's mobility while the others prefered 'extra' armor of the M10.
      3rd: In late 1943 there was an M10 tested with an Oilgear hydraulic traversing motor but at that point just use 76 M4 tbh. And before the 76 M4 was put into the production, TD for the American is pretty much the cheapest and the fastest way to put firepower on a mobile platform down the range. Anything that would add complexity or were deemed 'unnecesssary' were pretty much removed.

      Normandy is pretty much the answer to all questions regarding "best campaign". Its simply the only one players are always active in.
      Berlin Axis can be good too, but Berlin is typically dominated by high level players with weapons that will absolutely stomp everyone else
