We held our parents' estate sale this summer. We looked up the more valuable items, and then agreed among us on a price range. Everything else was negotiable. None of us four siblings had the gumption to price everything. We sold nearly everything, and made decent money. We all agreed our goal was to clear out the property, not to be antique dealers.
There are two different kinds of estate sales just like garage sales. One is where people just need to get rid of the stuff or make space. The other is where its all about the money and they are just out to make a buck. You held the fun kind of estate sale for shoppers.
@@NancyW82 The only regret I have is selling a concrete bird bath to a kind of jerkish man for $10. Not because of the price, but because of his attitude.
@@NancyW82 a local company here in PA are just out to make a buck. I feel like the most likely have a lot left at the end of the sale. All prices at or above eBay pricing.
This is the best way to get rid of things and sometimes you end up making more money. Everybody wins this way. I need to have a sale like this to clean my fathers estate out bin just not quite ready to do it yet. It’s only been four months.
@@melanietrujillo1709 I'm so sorry. We lost both parents this year, Dad in December and Mother in March. Take your time and do what you can when you can.
Thanks for letting me tag along! I had a blast!!
Good times
I'm so tired of estate sales... Most of them are starting to way overvalue their items, especially when it comes to vinyl, trying to charge record store prices.
Well those flippers do the same thing
I had that Sony Boombox when I was a kid. It probably my most favorite Christmas gift. Brings back awesome memories.
I know I have the same one yet my moms mini HORSES’s knocked it off the table and broke the handle yet it can be glued back. I love mine.
It's really refreshing to see resellers helping each other out and talking cordially. In my area it's a real cut throat scene every reseller for themselves no one helps or gives advice
You shouldn't be mean towards anyone for just simply trying to better themselves and make a few bucks on the side.
It's not being mean. It's business. This is life. U don't punch the other reseller but u sure don't help or give advice that up to him to do that. In a fake world u can help them lmao.
@@yuppy-hp1mc unless she is cute and will provide you with some services other than that you should limit helping them 🤣🤣I'm the type that will give advice but I'm not just going to give away all my secrets to just anyone...

You are so nice to everyone even your competitors. There’s a lot to be said about that. You even help your competitors. Awesome
I’d walk over grandma on the floor with a broken hip to get something for cheap 😂
Top guy always has nice manners 👍
I love how you support and encourage other resellers.
Good evening Sir, I follow you while, and yeah I like your style to interact with your potential customers. My wife and I are fleamarket hunters since decades, and our house looks like a museum. The prices you ask for,or get offered are breathtaking cheap in contrast of German or France markets. We love the pictures and the stuff you show us. It's always a look in a part of US living we don't know about in Germany. Thanks for it and greatings from Germany 👍 👍
Same in Australia ! nothing like these amounts or prices
Hi to you from Fl to Germany my grandma was from Colblanc believe I’m spelling it right not sure. She came thru Ellis Island back in 1921 at 3 MTHS old I still have her tiny thin dress and her papers. God Bless you and Stay safe
@@kathymckay5286 Hi to you from Fl stay safe on the other side of the pond! I would love to go one day!
I've been reselling for a very very long time piece of advice when you're at an estate sale or an auction or anything like that. Shooting out prices out loud or I can sell this for this or that be a little more discreet because people hear that and then it ripples and then you start seeing prices shoot throught the roof
Exactly turns into a bidding war and nobody wants to back down even if they're losing money
Amazing how kind you remain when folks are rude. Great quality 👌
I'm hooked on how you pick your finds and your knowledge of the items. I found six used brand name designer bags just put on the ground at a dumpster and sold 3 so far. Just enjoy finding and selling! NEW SUB!!👍
Wow that was so great, the dolls $400 brill, and it was lovley of you to invite that gent to the party, also the scenic few at the end with the green grass and tree's looked so much like the british landscape! Luv your channel thanks!🇬🇧🤗😊🇬🇧
Great video! Glad the estate sale lady with the dolls didn’t have to ring you up,that would of made Twenty one million things for her to do😉
Hi, Kevin!!
I enjoy your videos!!
I have been buying and selling mostly dolls since the early 1970s when I was a teenager.
I used to sell via a newsletter listing of dolls, etc for sale called “Collectors United”. We used to call long distance to buy something and would send a check via snail mail.
I just love that you run into other dealers on your treasure huntings!! “Is there a picker’s convention here or what”? you said.
I hope to see you one day in person-that would be fantastic!!
Your fan,
Marcia
Those were the (slow) daze!’
Hey Kevin! I look forward to your videos! You are so kind & gentleman-like with people & I think our world would be a better place with more people like you. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Amen! Truest to the Core! He definitely is “ Prime Example”! ❤
Be thankful that she didn't come back with an ebay price for those dolls. I have been to quite a few garage sales/yard sales this season with ebay prices - post it notes saying it sells for this ____ on ebay...my mouth wanting to say well then sell it on ebay, my brain saying just walk away quietly....i usually listen to my brain.
She would have but there were no comps on these two.
True. Selling stuff on eBay is not fun. To me at least. I thought I’d sell some things that I had laying around. When they sold. I was like all damn, now I gota go to goin postal across to ship them. Not worth it to me.
I’ve been collecting dolls my whole life and those dolls you found were amazing. What an exciting find. I have some nesting dolls that have come from England and I’d love to find out how much they are worth. I’d never get rid of them but I’m so curious.
I just found a set of the apple green canisters at a house clean out last night for free! The smallest one hadn't been used. I can't wait to get them listed!!
Dang. For years I had a green Tupperware canister like that for my flour. I don't know what I ever did with it.
I went to this same yard sale! How cool to see how you thought about the things I actually seen!
Kevin, I appreciate how you go. Above and beyond for fellow sellers, especially the young ones. Very cool 😎
Reselling seems like it ruins garage sales
How?
It’s just a hobby. None of these resellers are makin any serious money.
Awesome video and great finds! I love your line you always say of "Whats the best you can do?" and feel like every reseller needs to adopt it in our vocabulary. Love the commonwealth cabin too 😁
Beautiful ending. I love seeing "my" mountains. Nice score on the dolls, even at that price.
Love the interaction with Thrifter Sifter. I watch all of his stuff too.
By the way, because of you I went through some old boxes and found 1 guitar dongle and 1 drum dongle. I listed them and the guitar one sold over night for $24.50. Not bad considering we haven’t used it in 12 years. Thanks for the heads up.
DVD's & Blu-Rays with a "Promo" sticker on them are Wal-Mart Black Friday deals. The put a different UPC sticker on top of the original in case they run out of the cheaper version so the customer isn't getting the more expensive, better version at the discounted rate. If you use Part Time Pickers heat gun, after purchasing of course, and take both stickers off it instantly increases the value even if only by $1.
Hi Kevin! As always, thank you for the content and the education!! I'm so grateful. Just had to say that my anxiety level goes down when you bring your IKEA bags LOL. Not sure what that's about??? Just look so forward to all your videos including the flipper videos and you have a darling family and fur babies.
I must watch them all ever since finding Kevin several years back due to Matt in CA; I’ve been hooked ever since. Just love his family and how he instills values into his children’s life and his wife is a hoot!♥️🤗🤩🇺🇸🙏
Who made that picker a expert on what's made all things are made
Awesome deal on the dolls ! I have never seen those before .
You sure are a polite genius .😊💖
We used to have that turkey platter a woman picked up. I never liked that amber cookware. Good stuck and never could get it completely clean. Good video!
I agree,I threw my cookware in the trash.
Yep, it wasn't good. Food always stuck. Trashed mine, too.
You found Grimm! Omg, I loved that show. I wish it had never ended. Plus I love those 2 folk dolls, not sure what they were called, but those were cute. Love your channel
Thank you for making an extra long video!! 🤗 I could just watch you all day!! Excellent finds and profits as usual! You actually remembered your IKEA bags!! So proud of you Kevin!! ☺️
I’ll keep waiting for you to make it to Maryland one day! We have plenty of Flea Markets and yard sales too!
Keep those Videos coming!
Love your #1 fan from Baltimore! 💰☺️
Shewww, you have the patience of a saint. All that work to set up the sale. With those prices, I imagine they packed most of it back up at the end. 😂😂😂 The Ruston dolls were a nice find!! Congrats!!
Had a friend who started working for an estate sale company. She would charge the client X amount of money just to do the sale. Then they’d price the good items super high and never barter. At the end of the sale the people would be told they owe X amount if the sale wasn’t profitable and for an additional 1000 bucks, they will dispose of the remaining items. Months would go by and she’d have her warehouse open for a massive estate sale of the leftover good stuff she never sold. Unscrupulous broad.
it happens often in the estate sale business. Better off to sell it yourself some times.
@@CommonwealthPicker that’s a dirty old trick used by dirty old Estate Sale huckster.
Great job on the dolls! Very good investment!
Both my mom and I love the song Purple Rain by Prince. He is a very talented singer, and artist too. Sabrina Griffin. My mom Lisa might like wearing that Prince t-shirt.
Hey Kevin, you should wear a Commonwealth Picker T-shirt to the meet up-they’re way-kool and if you can’t find one, I know of a little lady who can get you one for a great price!
😆🤣😄😆🤣😄
I’m having fun watching you working hard and having fun! ~ Gary at the PostcardShack
Fleetwood Mac, Def Leopard, Kiss t's are great
Too bad you had to loudly explain re-selling at the sale so the lady overheard and realized she should check the prices on the dolls.
That’s not what happened
Hey Kevin! Thanks for entertainment!
Great finds today 👍🏻
Hello I’m watching from Indiana. You can thank Kayla “Homeschooling Picker” for mentioning you on her videos.
She is one of the best pickers around for sure.
I noticed in some of your other videos that sellers would look up prices after you picked. Me, I think is a little disrepectful to the buyer. I am curious on your thoughts on this. I love how awesome you are. So chill!!!!
Maybe but the item is theirs to do with what they want until the sell it.
The Mickey Mouse head lunch boxes at 24:47. I sold the one on the right before, without the thermos, for $50. FYI That guy had a lot of cool stuff!
Hey Kevin, those dolls are awesome. Anything out of the ordinary with tags like that I would grab too. Great unexpected comps! Fun sale, yes prices are a little high but fun pickin.
Prices are a little high? Those dolls sell for 400
They actually already sold for 400
@@CommonwealthPicker That's awesome. I actually looked at your store and saw them. Absolutely a fantastic flip and good eye for picking them up.
🤗
@@maverick5311 he wanted them almost for free. Lol
Seem like some of the sellers are looking up prices online and that makes your job a whole lot harder.
They have no business sense
eBay sellers have fees transportation expenses labor overhead at times etc
Why don't they try selling no they don't want to do the work
They want to sell at at retail so you lose money????
the seller has every right to look up their items if they wish
I love blue moon beer too.
You missed At the first yard sale behind the pink vision ware that you decided not to buy. Was a pink pitcher it is Hull bloom flite pattern. Depending on the price and condition it should sell for around $40. Pottery is my thing. We have meet before at a sale, that you got an old stuffed tiger plush. I am still picking. Good luck!
I remember.
Those were some awesome dolls. Love yard sales. Thanks for sharing enjoyed. 🥰
Fun finds. I have never seen those Rushtons but I will be on the lookout for them now.
😆 that dude was squatting every time you walked by at the first sale
😆
I watch you all the time and love it. I've seen a bunch of stuff that you pass up that junk journalers or scrapbookers would buy. I make junk journals and wish I was with you most of the time. I very rarely find such good stuff around here. I know my car stops at yard sales!!
Love how you always try to find away to support all the sellers👍👍🙏
You went right to the kitchen on that estate sale looking for Tupperware LOL
Every time I see Tupperware or ashtrays I think of Kevin! 😂
I check up for new videos every day. Thanks 4 this one. I think u did gooood!
That didn't look like a "real " estate sale. Too many of the same thing. Plastic tubs under the tables. This stuff was hauled in. I see this happen all the time at our "estate" sales. Pro companies haul in trailers full of stuff days before.
I know local estate companies rather than trash good items will take them to their next sale. I don’t have an issue with it because I can’t attend all sales and what interests me often is not of interest to others. I picked up some classic books from Hemingway at one sale and the vendor threw in books from the same era from another sale. I’ll treasure all of them.
Its called "padding a sale", and it's been done since time immemorial....
Great vids.
Thats why you shouldnt talk about how much you can resell them for or let them know u resell unless they ask ?
People always wanna know what can you make but never wanna do the work
Them twin dolls are cool. I like seeing the business but not so much being in it 😬 awesome sale on the twins 👯♂️ 🙌🏻
You didn't even look at those vinyls at 24:07. It seems he had very good titles there and Rock music on vinyls are always making money anywhere. How much did he sell for the popular albums?
I like how they say "They go on eBay for 300$" but it doesn't sell for nearly..
Roy Rodgers museum is now in Missouri. Been there for over 10 years now.
A few of the yard sales here in Tampa will have an eBay printout next to their items. I just head back to the car and go on to the next one. eBay seller Lee
They have no business sense
They think you making money is for free yet they don't want to sell it themselves on eBay because it's work fees and waiting for sales and hunting for inventory . Transportation expenses equipment and supplies expenses dealing with customers reducing prices eBay sellers competition
Hard work packing orders labor
They think they deserve retail so you will not make.money
You making money off them is a problem
A friend of mine did the same thing. She didn’t sell as much as she wanted. I tried to tell her, however….She ended up donating some items instead of taking a lower price for them. I was heartbroken for her.
I definitely would have gotten the back in black shirt it's my favorite album of all time
I really like estate sales! ☺️
What an exciting find on the dolls. TFS
I LIKE THE WAY YOU HANDLE YOUR CAMERA ON YR. VIDEOS!!
Only fare you tried to scam them for the dolls... karma got you 🤣
OMG 😱 !!!! I went to this same sale(s) during the 127 Longest Yard Sale. Somewhere middle Tenn, don’t remember the town.
Guy sounded like Forrest Gump at the beginning when he said "you need that".
the Sierra Nevada Hazy tap handle is something I would have bought !
You can't even look up to your heroes anymore... I was at the Farmers & Merchant Bank in Garbage Grove when Dal and Roy were there for. book signing... Here I was expecting at least Roy being at least 6'4" and there I was as a 10 year old boy towering over them... (I won't mention the year or it will prove that I'm over 39...😹😹😹)... I was disappointed to realize this fact... This is why I started my post with that opening statement...
They were both bigger then their appearance though... You knew they were high quality as human beings and Dale was a total sweetheart... Dale even suggested that I go into the ministry without even realizing that that was my goal... Imagine that 7 years later I was ordained as a chaplain at my soon to be father-in-law's mortuary...even though I performed three ceremonies without being ordained on an emergency basis...
Oops...did I just spell Garden wrong???😹😹😹
I would love to have a set of brown tumbler set then them green ones but I would like yellow too but the brown wouldn't show marks as much
I would love to look through all them records.....
Hanging out in Crossville in this video! You were in my town sir.
Loved those hobo dolls, but the lady😳😳. Love your videos 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
Well I would have priced the dolls before I put them out for sale. I might have even tried to sell them myself on discovering the value. Still if you can get $400 or even $300 for those you made a nice profit even though they were 85.
Chivas Regal does sound like a theater but it’s a scotch whisky!
Not an ash tray. Is a candy dish.
Roy Rodgers lived near us. They are in a very nice cemetery where my folks sadly are.
Those dolls, gosh, what a score. Just like that.
I also met Roy Rogers and Trigger at the Roy Rogers Restaurant in Fairfax, VA
Good buy to all your stuff,Kev.👍
The Lion King (guard) playset from the garage sale is a great bolo. Leaned that from another CZcamsr. I've sold two and the last one fof $55 plus $20 shipping!
You guys beat us to that hat sale! 😭
Early bird gets the Rushton Jimmy
😆
You know with a little bit of practice, you can repair a lot of electronics pretty easily. I often repair radios, VCRs, etc. in minutes and with inexpensive supplies. A replacement radio antenna is a few bucks at the most.
I have a hard time with screwing in lightbulbs. I wish I had even basic skills.
Nice rushton finds.
My uncle hauled Roy Roger's horse Trigger across country for shows. 😀
very cool
those concert shirts are awesome! I wonder where he found them all. they seem so difficult to find, like a diamond in the rough
He definitely had a lot of cool stuff!
I only go to estate sales during the last couple hours because everything is usually half off or even more. I can't see flipping things at most sales on the first day because the prices are sometimes higher than eBays.
Really depends on the people running the sale - I've learned who has good prices & who doesn't in my area, and there are a couple of sellers that I'll show up to day-1 because they always have awesome prices.
I mostly agree but I would have missed those dolls. This was actually an accidental estate sale. Wasn't planning on going to it but ran into it just minutes before it started.
I found out that in some states, when you go to yard sales, the price the owner puts on the products they are selling, they cannot change the price after you pick it up, only before someone picks up items. It's a law.
This is not the case anywhere that I have ever seen.
Omgosh the Garfield and Taz gum ball machines!
Hi, been watching for a while, so nice to see how you interact with your community, your a good guy. 👍
Question. You know the silver metal canisters that has the flour sugar coffee qnd tea with black handle 50s I think I have them from my mamaws but missing 2 handles also the green with brown lids with like flowers or design in lid any idea how much they are worth.
Most people probably know these things but:
When you are at a sale and you show comps, are they what they sold for and why is there a line through the price 🤔?
Green is a sold price. A line is because the seller took a best offer less than asking price.
Another CZcams page American " Crazy lamp lady " visited a vintage shop which had lots of different Pyrex bowls and some still in the boxes
I am a new thrifter from Greenville NC and I love watching your channel! I’ve learned so much!
I think you should keep on the down low, people get weird if you resell their stuff lol. Might not run into that problem 😉 thanks for sharing. Love your videos.
there's a restaurant/ bar down the street from me named Blue Moon. of course they have that beer and a little pink pig lawn ornament on the grass. come visit sometime.
@24:14 I noticed he had a bunch of Pokemon cards there. I wonder if there was anything from the 90's or early 2000s in there. Might have just been bulk commons though
Technically she didn't pull $400 out of Your hands cuz Technically they weren't your dolls yet
He didn't say she pulled MY 400 dollars out of my hand. Just said she pulled 400 Dollars out of my hand. I can have my friends 400 dollars cash in my hand. If she takes it out of my hand. She has pulled it out of my hand.
Great pick on the twins congrads
I sure wish I could find yard sales like these in our area here in Augusta GA
