I started skating a few months ago and I still can't reliably stop without running into the roller rink walls. So excited to try some of these out!! Thanks for the great explanations :)
😂 i’m laughing because I’m also learning, and it’s exhausting. Once I fell, one leg went one way, and the other leg went the other way, so painful.

No my tailbone kept on getting obliterated by the floor 😂😂
@@HypeLady92 OMG SAME MINES EVEN HURTING NOW
@@Cryptic_Dude oh I felt great like nothing was hurting until the next day the next day I was so sore 🤣🤣 the reason I looked up this video was because I could get going just fine stopping was my only problem 😂
Oh, i don't have rollerskates, i don't have space to use them and i don't have the money to buy them, but all throught i like to watch your videos, it's super relaxin and make's me feel happy. :D
I got mines off of Poshmark, the online thrift store. They were 50 bucks and they are roller derby brand. My youngest has the same brand, and it cost me 20. Just sharing in case you wanted to explore less expensive options 😏. I'm thrifty 😊
I got mine at a thrift store for 10 dollars, basically unused- I'm planning on getting another pair when I'm more experienced, but they work really well 😁
@dauntless_kitten8200 I got mines from the thift store too
Some websites also have payment plans
Mines just got here today. I got them off Amazon for about $45.
Pizza stop is going to save my life! I’ve been using the tried and tested ‘flail for a bit then catapult into a tree’ method in my local park (hills 4 dayssss)
😂😂😂😂😂How are your knees, Ive been going with the hop up and walk it off like granma way lol how are your knees👀
Bro I love this woman’s energy so much- she seems like such a fun person.
I just started rollerskating and everything I have found for "beginners" are how to do super complicated stuffs as jumping, go down stairs, make circles... That's wonderful, but so far I can't even stand properly on my rollers and my way to stop is against my surroundings, so I'm very grateful for these super basic videos where I can learn from the very beginning 🤩
I learned how to skate from your videos. I’m just on day 3 and I already feel comfortable. I’ll try the V / pizza stop when I skate later today.
My experience from it it's my favourite, I have a fear of doing toe stop so knowing the do this it makes me feel comfy. If ur not going so fast u can just glide. Have a good time skating!
Which was the quickest and easiest to learn at first?!
@@MsAdreaL v stop
@@Harshawhosatherian Thank you 🤗
Random question: where do u go to practice ? I wish I could find a location as she
This is all such helpful info! I never learned to skate as a kid and now the idea of it kinda terrifies me now that I'm in my 30s, but it always looks so fun and freeing. I feel like this is giving me some confidence to finally try again. On that note, would love to see if you have any tips for "oh sh*t, I'm falling/have fallen"! Things like how best to try to land, when you should or shouldn't catch yourself, how to get up without looking like a wounded newborn giraffe, etc.
I needed this so much! The only stops I am comfortable doing right now is the pizza stop, but I am not fully comfortable stopping that way when going fast yet. I need to learn the t-stop and transitions too because I want to start trail skating. I hate the toe stop drag so much and I try to stay away from that. lol I will definitely focus on learning how to properly shift my weight. Thank you!
I’m 35 years old and just bought my first pair of roller skates. I wanted something I could find that was different than the daily walks I do, that would be fun and something I could do both just for me on my own, but also keep up with the kids when they’re on their bikes and scooters.
You are my first tutorial video, and you teach it so clearly and showing from different angles (I’m a dance teacher) is very helpful when learning from a video.
Subbed! ❤
to think people skated for an entire month nonstop til you showed them how
I haven't rollerskated in years, and no one taught me anything, so I appreciate the information in this video! I picked up on skating fast real fast but never breaking - I hated the jerky and tripping feeling of the toe drag so instead little 9-year-old me tended to just squat down and extend out one leg, and spin in a little circle to cancel my momentum! Glad to know there are much better ways out there!!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t trust toe stops like that - I do exactly what u said, my foot feels like it’s jerking and then I panic. My sister doesn’t understand that I just can’t stop like that lol
your videos started popping up on my feed just as i started learning to skate! tysm, you inspire me and ur vids are a vibe
Yay! I just started rollerskating lessons yesterday so now I’ve found you with these beginners tips I’m so happy!
I just bought my first pair of skates. I used to love skating at the rink as a child. Thank you for a very thorough explanation of stopping. I can't wait to get back into skating! 😍
I haven't skated ever since I was 10 I wanna get back into it someday 😅
@lamcookie7055 I kept telling myself this but years kept going by and it never happened. The skates I bought were sort of an impulse purchase after a week of researching which skates I should buy. I'm so glad I did because seeing my skates next to the shoe rack in my house is all the motivation I need to keep practicing, especially while it is still warm outside to do so
What brand of skates are they , I like the ones she is wearing in this video the pale purple ones, some advice would be helpful thanks 😊
I bought a pair of skates years ago and I've been wanting to skate for fun. Now I feel more confident because of you. Thank you
I’ve been rollerskating for as long as I can remember and I still learn something by watching your videos. I didn’t know how to do half of these stops and you explain them all so well. Thanks for all you do!
i love how you teach! the breakdowns are so helpful. thank you. ☺️
I love your vibe, your direction and big font so I can watch and skate around the garage at the same time 😁 thank you 🙌
I ordered my first pair of rollerskates yesterday and I'm binging tutorial videos while I wait for them to arrive 😁I like your videos so much! You gained a new subscriber!
New Vid hype !! hope all is well ! Thank you so much for taking time to make these vids and sharing a part of yourself with your viewers - ☺
This was really helpful! Ive always been iffy when it came to stopping but this helped me out sm! A video on different skills like skating backwards would also be super cool. I love your teaching style, sweet and straight to the point.
i found your channel with your mindfulness skating video and i instantly subscribed! your flow and grace rollerskating has really been motivating for me to keep on skating. please please please start a series here about your skating journey and tips on how to get to where you are now, i'd love to see it and im sure other people would too! xx
I love your channel so much! You motivated me with your 101 Video to search for my old roller skates and properly learn how to use them! You are such an amazing person and I appreciate the time your investing in this channel❤😁 Keep up with the good work!
your energy and vibe is literally amazing, i'm boutta buy a pair of my very first skates soon, and I love that I found your channel at the right time
You are so encouraging and kind. My boyfriend and I are going skating at some point and I was. So nervous. But you're so patient and welcoming, and your videos have me more excited than scared to skate for maybe the first time in my life! So thank you so much
Excellent tips’ My 7 year old granddaughter followed your instructions and improved and glided instantly! You’re awesome sis! 😀
Love this! I’ve been trying to teach my grand daughter to skate… & with me this will be so helpful. Thank you🥰
I roller-skated/rollerbladed a lot as an only child growing up and recently moved near a park that has an outdoor roller rink! I'm so excited to get back into it. I love your videos! Thank you
I love an outdoor rink in the summer, I’m so excited for you!
I am going to try it for the first time today. Your videos are the easiest to follow. Thank you so much!
Thank u so much for these skating tips! Im getting roller-skates this christmas and im so excited to use them thanks again
Im not even halfway throught the vid but your content is amazing! what you described made perfect sense to me and thank you SO much for the captions
I just wanna say I appreciate these videos and of course I appreciate you because without you .. we wouldn’t be getting this quality content baby 😂❤ . I’m very new to skating and your helping me soooo much .. I can’t begin to thank you enough .
I love this series!
Thank you so much for this video! You are literally teaching this newbie. Please make more videos. After this video I felt confident at 41 to go out and try today. I need help turning around gracefully lol I get to the end of my parking lot , stop, and do this sad little turn around and then go back the other way. 🤦🏾♀️ I’ll be so excited to see your next tutorial ❤
Very detailed explanation, thank you very much! I ve owned roller skates for over a year now, but guess what, im afraid to skate outside( im in late 30s)! But now after watching your videos i get more motivation to go outside!
Thank you so, so much. 6 weeks back into skating after not doing it since a child. Your lessons are so easy, breezy and cute! I feel like a fairy again ❤️
You are so welcome!
Found your channel last week and your videos encouraged me to commit to finally buying a pair of skates! I love your style of talking to the camera and am here even for the non-skating content
Good morning! I want you to know This comment is going to fuel my day! My #1 goal is get as many people outside and moving their body but it feels really good to know you’re here for me being a whole person too outside of skating. Thank you thank you thank you for being here!
I'm so happy to see this
when i say i was waiting for this I AM NOT LYING TYSM FOR THIS
You are such a saint for these videos ♥️♥️♥️
You are such a beautiful and graceful rollerskater. Your videos are my favourite. Simple, clear, and informative instructions/demonstrations 👌🏾. Will be trying all of them. Thank you for sharing, and have a positive day ✌🏿💜💯
Damn thankyou for making this video. I was still rolling from your last video and now i'm finally able to stop after 4 weeks for non stop rolling
Thank you! Im trying to learn 2 days ago and your my teacher now❤
I’m learning how to skate before I go back to campus. I need a hobby something that will get me out the dorm/house. And I found you on TikTok! Thank you so much for these tutorials!
This is so helpful! My skates arrived today and though I'm excited to get started, I'm not going to lie, I'm also a little scared, haha. I had rollerblades in my early teens that I rarely went around the block on sometimes, but now in my mid-twenties, I've forgotten every minuscule thing I ever learned. Thank you so much for these tips (as well as your other videos!), I'm thrilled to get started!
This video is great! I used to roller skate in my youth and was thinking about getting back into it again.
This was very insightful! Thank you!
that is the video I was waiting for! thank you so much!!!
I managed to stumble on this page. . . I didn't know i needed this. Much appreciated
I just got my roller skates today and this was really helpful ❤
This helped my friend and I so much!! Thank you!!❤
Just adding on to the physics of the shifting your weight to slow or stop. A more technical description of what is going on is that as a skater you are changing your liner momentum into angular momentum. It is the same reason why your car wants to slow down when you enter a curve on level ground.
Thank you so much for this. I didn’t have a reliable way of stopping before. Really want to get out there now.
Dasia, thank you so much for the lessons! I just started with your 7 minute video! still a little shaky but I feel so proud that I can get to one end and stop! Could we please have a video on how to turn or go backwards? lol
I don't have a jam plugs & toe stops for my skates (cuz they're the ones you kick in the back to get the wheels) but the pizza stop sems so helpful.
Man thats the cool outdoor rink, smoothe!
i am new trying to learn how to skate ,and your channel is the best for me because i love All your videos ..we love you all the way from Dubai
Thank you so much girl!
Thank youuuuuu 🙏 Stopping was always an issue for me with ice skating but at least there was the rink wall 😅 I’ve been worried about how I’ll stop in roller skates so I’ll practice this today 👍😉
Your videos are super helpful and positive. I don't know if I'll try skating again
That’s okay, I’m glad you’re here anyway. ✨❤️
Hello...I watched your skate in 7 min vid, was great...best explanation yet. Havent tried yet but your vid actually gave me the confidence to want to try tmrrw! Ha! But then I thought, but how do I stop?...so I took a dive into your channel and got caught up in sum of your other stuff....I commend you for trying to get all your stuff right, good luck. Now back to skating...you have a great way of explaining things...I hope to tell you one day, soon, that I'm skating!👍🤞🏻
love your vibe and your tutorials! i would like to see more jam skating videos if you are able to make them!! :')
I'm getting my second pair of roller skates today!! As a child I got my mom's old ones. I'm so excited :)))
33k on this video 😍 I fuckin LOVE IT!! Keep going Dasia.. You're making your imprint on the world 🙏🏿💜
damn, youre so cool! i always wanted to skate, as a kid i even tried to, loved the speed and the general feeling of it, but stopping was the thing that made me, well, stop. it was my mortal enemy, i used to stop on bushes, grass and stuff like that. now youre making me want to skate again!
Happy I found you !!!
Thank you this helped so much ! Im going rollerskating with a friend soon who is insaley good at stopping and rollerskating in genral now I might have a chance 😀
i love your videos, tysm for sharing! so far im good with forward movement and the pizza (toe) stop, hoping to practice going backwards to see if that helps with pivots/transitions!
I love your videos and I liked everyone I saw❤❤❤
just bought some skates after seeing your videos! im excited but also a little scared (especially after having spent so much to get the skates, i think it was harder because i have bigger feet) i think stopping is the thing im most worried about. but your videos feel very safe and comforting in the way you explain things. thank you
Im so excited for you. It’s huge knowing something is scary and still doing it anyway. 🤌🏾😮💨 I’ve got some safety and how to fall content coming that might be super helpful for you. THANK YOU!
Thanks! I am at the roller rink right now and this video is a LIFE SAVER!!!❤❤❤❤😅
Yesss boo! I love the choice you made to level up while you were actually in the game. 😂🫶🏾❤️🎉 Happy skating!
I am enthralled 😍
Thank you for sharing 😃🙌🏼
I dont even have skates, but you make it look so fun and like i could really learn!!!
im a ski coach and how you said to do the pizza stop is pretty much exactly how I teach it. this is amazing
More roller skate videos!! I don’t want to watch anyone else’s 😅 I’ve watched your first two abou a hundred times now, and what I’m wondering next is how you do smooth turns while your foot is down? I can only seem to change direction if I pick my foot up, and can’t do all the smooth twists and stuff. Thank you!
I LOVED THIS
Thank you! Great video! Always had trouble stopping! The pizza stop may be my best bet! 🙏🏽
hey! im a beginner skater, (skated before for awhile, but stopped, and relearned later on) and my knees lock up, a lot. ive had knee problems for awhile, and the toe drag technique that people always told me to do, NEVER worked for me, and would make my knee lock up, and id fall, but some of these are REALLY good alternatives from what ive BEEN doing!! Thank you so much for this, Dasia!
Yeah down with the toe drag, let me know which ones end up working better for you and take some pressure off your knee. Welcome back to the club friend!
@@DasiaDoesIt thank you!! And I've mainly noticed that the stops in your video equally work pretty good!! I really appreciate videos like yours that don't just say "use the toe stops", cause not everyone is able to.
This was so helpful!
hello and thank u for this,i have an easy way for stoppers too is that when u are going if u have long stoppers like me just tip toe ur stopper and it will stop u very fast almost like instant but please practice this stop by a wall bc u can maybe fall, also ty for this these tuts are amazing so are u have a great day
I know this is semi inappropriate but I just can't help it! I love your body-type so much. It's the most beautiful, vigorously body shape I've seen thus far. It might be because of how helpful these videos are and how witty you are though
I only know how to stop by doing a circle so this is helpful! 🤩
AND YOUR VIBE ! can we have a video for turning around to skate backwards/ skating backwards & for people who are semi advance pls ?!!!
Thank you I just started skating
Maybe tips on what stretches to do before/after roller skating would be cool to see :))
I'm nearly 13 and I just got my first pair of skates to go out with my friend and this really helped my create my own way of stopping by mixing 2 together! I still have to stop using walls a lot though
Great video! Very helpful! I'm a transition stopper myself. That's just my preference but I'm definitely going to experiment with these more! Except the T-stop! I'm not very good at that one either and, it pulls on my knee in a strange way. I wonder, what plate do you have on your moxi lolly boot? I just bought some lolly's and the aluminum plate that I also bought won't fit the boot...anyway, you've inspired me to get toe jams too! I've been on the fence for a minute but now I'm sold! That's more my style! Thank you! Blessings and returns! ☮️🫶🏼✨
thanks u so much! very helpful
I bought roller skates awhile ago but they were not comfy so I couldn’t get into it but I just got a new pair of vnla Lunas so I’m trying again so I think armed with comfy skates and your tutorials I’ll be good 😼 thank you.
Thank you! You may have saved my life. Definitely my bones 😂🛼💕
Thank you for this !
Amazing Sister. I love it. Im here at home practicing. Keep up the good work. Bless You Loads. Khush from London.
Just bought my first pair of skates (so the first pair that fit me) and became really motivated to keep them nice. Thanks so much! I don’t have to eat pavement when I go fast anymore lol
Tysm it’s helping to skate
Thank you for this how to stop with jam plugs because i only been using the pizza stop method. Ill try that shifting. The lifting a toe is a little scary for me still.
I dig your skates so hard! I like my skates but I wish they were the lighter/thinner style like yours. I can't help but wonder if that would affect my skating, getting those style instead of the thick chonkers I have.
I can't believe how much difficulty I'm having when I thought this would be a lot like ice skating or even skiing
