If you're new here, welcome! I'm Madi and I create videos about minimalism and slow living every Wednesday. We recently moved our family to Hawaii in six boxes so this list of 10 things I only own one of was pretty easy to come up with! 😂 I love living lightly and not managing a bunch of stuff. Less really is more for me. I hope this video inspires you to do some rethinking and decluttering!

Yes!!!! links please to the chef knife that you use. I just found your channel and I'm just beginning my minimalism journey at the ripe old age of 58! I would like to pare things down as much as possible and invest in a few quality pieces instead of multiple meh items and having one GOOD knife seems like a genius way to start!

one purse/handbag! I got tired of never knowing when and where to change it out and it has simplified my life so much just knowing I have one bag for all occasions and I never have to worry about changing it out.

Honestly would love videos of alllll the things! Budgeting, journaling, house tour, organization, all things minimalism, etc. I would be REALLY interested in a video about your homeopathic journey and the “meds”/supplements you have for yourself and your kiddos. I am new to this and would love some insight. Your channel is my fav and I get so excited when a new video drops! ❤️

This video made me think so hard on things I have more than 1 of.... totes, crossbody bags, earrings, jeans, planners (place to write my life down), suitcase on wheels and a weekend bag, shoes, omg I think minimalism has been slowly slipping away from me. Love your videos!

I like your attitude to having one debit card. I am from Europe and here we don't really use credit card. We use the money we actually own - which is stored in our debit cards.
I so resonate with you about the simple wardrobe/accessories making it easier not to be impulsive about purchasing new clothes etc for myself or the littles. Great real conversations Madisun

The sheets and also towels are big one for me. I love owning just one set of sheets per bed, I do the same thing wash them and put them right back on and we each have one towel but they’re hand towels so I can throw them right in with the rest of my laundry and it’s awesome. 😊 Plus I feel like we can get away with that living in Florida. It’s not like we need a huge towel and we’re freezing or something. We can just dry off quick and hang the towel up to dry. 😂
Also, another one that really makes me happy is I don’t wear any make up besides eyeliner, mascara (because my eyelashes are blonde) and Chapstick so I have three things in my make up bag …idk why I even have a bag 🤣
Hi Madisun, believe it or not I'm 64 and following you. I'm a little minimalistic and trying hard to be more so. I love the freedom it gives you. I was just about to go shopping for a little road trip my husband and I are going on, now your video has reassessed everything I was going to buy this. Thanks. Is that your new home you are in now? I really loved your old home.
The only things on your list that we have more of is we have 2 cars (although this might change in a couple of years) and the kitchen items and that's only because of allergies and having to cook different meals. Things I only own one of would also add are a hairbrush, hair bobble, bra, phone charger (one for both mine and husband's phone), blanket for the sofa, coat, sunglasses, hat, scarf, handbag and lamp (that I move from living room and bedroom depending on where I need it. There is probably more as well, this has made me realise I'm further along my journey to minimalism that I thought 😃

It is fantastic that you have only 1 sheet. Where I live the seasons are really different and the wash will not be dry in the winter within 1 day. So I own for 2 beds with a similar size 3 items. So I can wash and dry and have a clean bed. Just not every bed in 1 day. Still minimal and a good solution for people who doesn't live in Hawaii, like me. I ended up in the United Kingdom. ❤
The sheet idea is great...I do keep extra blankets as they came in handy when all 3 kids started vomiting at the same time
No way could I ever have one set of sheets per bed! I need two sets per bed! We used to have 4 tv’s and now we only have 2 but we rarely watch tv esp in summer months. And yes to the one couch…an idea is floor pillows, fun for playing games, reading a book, etc. It is important to spend time on the floor with little kids! I don’t know if I will ever be a minimalist but I enjoy hearing your thoughts & how you handle material objects! Very refreshing! 💛
I have 2 wardrobes as I live in United Kingdom. We have a warm part of the year and a freezing part of the year. So I have a winter wardrobe with 2 jumpers, 2 jeans, 3 knitted dresses. My summer wardrobe is a little bigger and has only maxi dresses. So one of the 2 wardrobes is hanging in my rack and the other one is hidden under my bed. I give away what I did not wear. I only buy items with season change if it necessary (because I gave items away that I did not wear but still wear a particular item because it is cold) and no items for special occasions. Everyday is special.
Yay a new video! Seriously you’re my favorite CZcamsr. Yes to financial stuff, and to bullet journaling. I am a pen and paper person too. I would love to know how to put it in one, because I currently have a planner, and a notebook. Oh also I have the same challenges with shopping. I am better, since minimalism but it’s so hard. Also, great book I read recently if you are into Christian books. I found out about it though a writer on Joshua Becker’s blog, it’s called Biblical minimalism. My favorite minimalism book right now. I have literally recommended it to all my friends.
Love this! I was decluttering my kitchen and found 2 sets of steak knives - we are vegetarian so seriously how did that even happen 😂 I’ve also gotten rid of most of the knife block. Still working on getting rid of our credit cards it’s something my husband and I are struggling to let go of and makes for bad habits. We paid off all our debt 2 years ago and don’t carry a balance but it still messes up our budget every single month!! Thanks for the reminder - watching this video is perfect timing

Definitely would love to see budgeting and journaling video. I don't like using my phone for notes or anything like that so i always have a notebook for all the things too! I purposely don't go into Target or stores that would make me want to buy things for the home that I don't need, I have a soft spot for that too!

We used to own one car that we shared for a very long time, but then my husband started working 45 minutes away and my kids became teens and needed rides to more places, so we got my husband his own car. I wish we could have one again. Now my oldest is getting driving lessons and wants his own car and will need one for when he gets a job and goes to local college in time, but we also have an infant on the way, so it seems like things are building up. I'm the type of person who would prefer cycling everywhere, but it is unsafe to do so in our area as we have highways in the middle of towns and no bike lanes!
I am so with you when it comes to make up and jewelry! I only have my wedding band/engagement ring and nose ring (that I never take out).
I always only have one pair of jeans and fit all my clothes in one drawer.
I think the only thing we have multiples of are computers! I live stream on Twitch and am trying to get remote work on top of it, my husband has IT school and work stuff, and my kids are gamers and like playing Minecraft together. :: sigh :: I miss the days with one computer though. Now we have all these desks which take up space.
We share one suitcase for trips. My husband uses a backpack and we usually borrow a suitcase from my parents for my sons if we need or they use their backpacks depending on the time of year.
Things change once your kids become teens, though we still don't own much and my sons only ask for needs (like needing a new sweatshirt) and are content and easy going.
Anyway, You are amazing.

I've bullet journaled once or twice and think I like it. I've never journaled much before it seemed overwhelming but if I keep doing it this is the style for me

Hi Madi!!! Another great video, so inspired by your content. We also have only 1 tv, my husband and I made an intentional choice to not put a tv in our bedroom - best decision! Also I have a knife block and realized that I only use one knife to chop/cut and the only other knife we use is our bread knife. I’m feeling motivated to maybe downsize and remove the knife lock clutter from our counter. 💕

Awesome!! My one couch is the back seat of my car in my living room - back car seats are often more comfy than couches. I made the base from pallets total cost nothing.

Can you do a video on how a newbie starts a bullet journal and what you find are the benefits are of having one. I'm running two small businesses and I can't live without my planner. Wow so I just discovered you this morning and already did a major declutter of my closet! Love your videos so much! Would also love to talk finance/budgeting too! I didn’t have a credit card my entire life, but just last year, my husband and I decided to get one to build credit. We’re very careful and strict on what we use it for and pay it off regularly but I do miss the simplicity of just using one card! 😂 Thanks for sharing your wisdom, girly!
Also, not sure if you have one around you, but grocery shopping at Aldi/Lidl changed everything for me as someone looking to be more of a minimalist! Smaller store/less items simplified everything, I just meal plan around things I know I can find there! I save $$ and it’s rare that I have to go to the regular grocery store anymore!

My husband and I only have one debit card too! I have one and he has one but it’s for the same account. We do have a credit card but only use it if we know we can pay the full amount. We use it to build credit but right now we are hardly using it!

Credit cards can be bad if you have a spending problem, I have to pay bills so I might as well get the rewards. I always pay off the balance at the end of the month, that's important. I started to get really good at my finances starting this year after being single.
Would love more content about minimalist finances, frugal living and your experience with no credit card! How do you pay for online purchases or flight booking for example? What are the other challenges?

I used to own a mini hair brush and a regular sized hairbrush - then I realized I could totally get by with just the mini. And that's coming from someone with long, exceedingly thick hair!

I am like you. I only have 1 set of gold earrings and necklace which I never take off (I can’t even feel them). I used to have just one set of sheets per bed but that change when my girls entered potty training stage. I just have one extra. Same with makeup. I only have one of each item.
