Yea your right @
All great drummers- have to add Dino Danelli- looked like his drum set was a beginners set, but if you listen to any Rascals (or Young Rascals), he had a tremendous driving ability, and was a magician with the sticks!
R.I.P. Dino
Peart. Hands down. Longevity, speed, power, technique, technical ability, timing, limb independence, multi genre, percussion, dedication…..list goes on. He should be #1 on every list.
Tommy Aldridge not on a greatest rock drummers list is criminal.
Totally! Him and Micky Dee have to be on this list.
Yeah, I figured Tommy would be in the top 5
Tommy Aldridge was an amazing drummer for OZZY … well these idiots never saw OZZY in 1980,81 or 1983 etc. these critics never were born. It’s bias!
List is a joke, No Tommy Aldridge, Tommy Lee sucks. I think Peter Criss should be at least 50. Neil Peart should be #1.
Tommy Aldridge not being on this list is just nuts, Dave grohl being rated that highly is nuts, Travis Barker being on there at all is nuts. But at least you didn't list Lars Ulrich they did get that right.
Lars is a good drummer, he writes great drum parts and is one of the most influential drummers ever
@@jeestudent103 he is a efficient drummer for that band. In the top 50 ever by no means. And pretty much all drummers write their own drum parts.
Tom Aldridge not being in the top ten is nuts. Dave G and Tommy L and a few others don't belong on the list.
Agreed!!! I can't believe that Tommy Aldridge didn't make this list 😢 he should definitely be in the top 5 ....
What about Tommy Aldridge & Albert Bouchard??
We may not all agree on the order but you have to admit that is a fine list of great drummers, but there is one glaring omission.....where's Animal from the Muppets?
He’s number 0
What about john Hisseman
He's a cross between Bonham and Moon so he's #3 and #1 😂
They had him at #3 aka keith moon the loon!😂
That's Keith Moon on drugs. So, um, Keith Moon.
Karen Carpenter had so technical drumming skills but sadly obscured by her another talent, the voice
True, the same thing sorta happened to Phil Collins. Many people didn’t know he played drums😤
Maravilhosa tanto na bateria como na voz
So true
Caren Carpenter was Amazing she had real Groove 💜💛❤️🧡💜💛❤️🌞🌜🌟🌎🙏🌸🌼🌳🌴☺️
Karen was no doubt a very good drummer, but as a singer she was a goddess whose voice will still get under your skin many years from now.
Dave Grohl above Ian Paice looks like a joke
The list is a joke
I'd say that the list is basically a popularity contest. Deep Purple only have like two or three songs most people can name, Grohl has been in two of the most famous rock bands ever (and I'm not even a Foo Fighters fan -- I do adore Nirvana, though).
Not saying you're wrong or anything of that sort, just pointing out that these kinds of lists tend to be more commercially oriented.
@@JeffScottKing I doubt because, for example, Tre Cool is more popular than Bill Bruford, but Bill is 25 positions higher (also technically Bruford is much stronger), so I don't really know, by which criteria this list has been made
@@feangerbort8864 eh, fair enough -- Green Day is objectively more popular than King Crimson (who's better is debatable; I vastly prefer Green Day myself, but I can understand why someone would strongly disagree with me). I guess it's not quite as simple as I originally thought.
@@JeffScottKing Let me recommend you to listen to some KC stuff: Red album (especially Starless, IMO one of the best songs ever), Discipline and Beat. Maybe you'll like some of these
Sorry, you forgot Simon Phillips. He is a great drummer in 80s after Ian Paice and Cozy Powell.
jeff porcaro should be higher and dave grohl should be lower
Porcaro and Colaiuta should be much much higher.
Carl Palmer at 26 is a CRIME
Carl Palmer is easily on the same level as Neil Peart. They are both above John Bonham as far as I am concerned.
Tony Bozzio and Carl Parmer are ùnderated in this
@@davidsurf930 no kidding and david grolh and travis barker
Amen
Should be at least joint No.1... all the drummers above him would have shit their pants if they watched him perform
I’d like to add #51 : Mick Tucker - Sweet. I’ve always liked his stunning skills.
Mick Tucker was one of the finest drummers in rock!!! Just listen to the song "Cockroach" for starters!!!
@@user-ko8qb4rg1m : Brilliant drumming!!! ”No you don’t” is another good example. Especially live in that german tv show that someone have posted here on youtube.
Where’s Michael. Shrieve of Santana 😮
That man should be in the top Five.
I Thought exactly the same
I was sure I'd see him at least in the top 20.
This could be called « list of 50 rock drummers I know in any particular order, except for the top 5 where I decided to follow the trend »
I say my favorite drummers are Neil peart, John bonham, steward Copeland and Keith moon
Bill bruford was awesome. Should be much higher
No Lars. Valid list
Mick Tucker
No Carmine Appice?
The Appice brothers.
Carmine was awesome with Black Sabbath and Dio. Again they did this with guitar and now drums. They should get their heads checked out first before coming out with misplaced list.
Also, Vanilla Fudge. Loved that band!
@@charleskletter8974U Vinny, the younger brother
Agreed!
Jeff porcaro must be top 5
I agree.
AGREED!
I think Karen Carpenter should be higher as well…..
And not a mention of The Wrecking Crew’s great Hal Blaine at all, is just mind blowing to me!!
Tommy Lee & Dave Grohl are waaaaaay over ranked!
Facts!!!
Jeff Porcaro and Steve Gadd should be top 5 at least!
And no Simon Phillips? Wow
Guarantee you that Phil Rudd, Charlie Watts, and John Bonham set more drummers asses on fire - dreaming and practicing and playing in a band, than all other 47 drummers put together.
Totally true.
What's Ringo Starr doing on the list
@@alannash3274 - Living in your head.
Where's Mick Tucker from Sweet
I'd throw in Budgie, Jaki Liebezeit, and Topper Headon
Finally someone giving Jaki Liebezeit the respect he deserves. One of the best drummers to ever live
ANIMAL...Who else can catch fire and play drums at the same time 😁
simon Phillips💪
Where’s Michael Giles of King Crimson?
Always overshadowed, sadly
Also Barriemore Barlow from Jethro Tull and John Weathers from Gentle Giant.

I'm happy to see Carter Beauford getting recognition at 45. Great drummer, regardless of what you think of the DMB's music.
not a DMB fan, but i Love carter's drumming. wasted on that band if you ask me.
@@itachileesan I humbly beg to differ. I really like Dave Matthews Band, and Crash is one of my favorite albums of the '90s. But then again, that's just me.
Carter should be in top 5
Phil Ehart(Kansas) belongs on this list
John Bonham ❤🥁
Want another shot, john??
Bonzo was doing his iconic stuff already at just age 20.
He's overrated
@@TheSamsdad25
You're an ignoramus.
@@lyndoncmp5751yeah iconic repetitive drumming he's very overrated
Ringo>Bill Bruford? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Charlie Watts over Alex Van Halen? That's not even slightly believable..
Never pay attention to any of These content creators very full of OPINIONATED BS
Charlie Watts was an atrocious drummer, and so boring. He could just about keep time. Having him on this list is like saying Richards or Wood are better than Vai or Malmsteen. Nuts.
@@brianparker8352He was jazz influenced which is more technical than r&r and is considered boring by a certain contingent.
Where's Animal??? 😂😂❤😂😂
Lol
#3. It turns out that "Animal's" spirit animal is a human being...
Any top drummers list that doesn’t include Barriemore Barlow , really isn’t a list
Or Clive Bunker for that matter.
@@user-lt9py2pu6u Clive bunker was very good and not mentioned enough
Absolutely right. Even Bonham praised him
Exactly, one of the most innovative drummers of his time.
Exatamente
As a drummer myself this list is full of mistakes. Joey Jordison not being on here is a crime. People may hate him but Lars Ulrich should also be on here
Lars in his prime, sure... now not anymore though
I fully agree with that. While I'm not a big fan of slipknot, Joey Jordison's drumming is INSANITY, and lars definitely does deserve recognition
I 100% agree, Joey was a beast and is one of my biggest inspirations, he’s the whole reason I bought a double kick.
also when you seem ringo starr over danny carey and mike portnoy
John Dolmayan
The fuck do you mean Gavin Harrison at #48?!?
People who know drums and percussion would never rank Bill Bruford so poorly and not have Barriemore Barlow off it. And ranking Tommy Lee ahead of the likes of Mike Mangini😂🤣 good one
Phil Ehart not on the list? Wow!!! Huge huge oversight! Completely discredits this list.
Bruford should be higher, he’s way more technically skilled than most of the people in the top 10
Have to be honest when it got to top 10 and I hadn’t seen Grohl yet I thought ‘he’s too good not to be on this list but he can’t be this high up’
I just started laughing at the inclusion of Tommy Lee
Lmao
@@epsilon6516 why ? He‘s among the best drummers of all time. Very unique in style and he helped shape the sound of an iconic band.
@@herbtube7824 he’s good, he’s just not top 50 good
How is Clem Burke not on this list?
Nicko mcbrain, Clive burr and the rev criminally underrated
Mick Tucker 🎉 The Sweet.
John Bonham was doing his iconic stuff at just age 20. Let that sink in.
Tommy Aldridge....Scott Rockefield...Gregg Bisonette....Carmine Appiece
I'm sorry, i gotta go with Neil at #1. John would be #2. Alex VH should be higher along with Ian Paice. Definitely above Grohl. My opinion. Great list 👌 👍
Phil Collins, Ian Paice, Ringo Starr, Roger Taylor, Keith Moon
Chad Smith ❤
Ian Paice should be number 2 in this list! And where is Mick Tucker???
Looking for Thin Lizzy's Brian Downey
He's in my top five. This list is a joke
Downey
@@laurencelevene4333 thank you, I didn't proofread!
Absolutely. 72 and can still Absolutely ROCK IT behind the kit. A pure legend.
Top 2 are backwards….. I understand the love of Bonham, but come on Peart can do things Bonham can’t even imagine. For me Neil Peart is the greatest drummer that has ever lived….. Full Stop.
No Phil Ehart? (Kansas)
RIP BTW. But yes Ehart !
No need for the RIP, I saw Kansas on Saturday and they said Phil is doing fine.
Where's Barriemore Barlow?
Nick mason is so underrated
One of the most undertated of All time
Good drummer but not great.
He is a middle level drummer, not great
@@pearlvision7156 better then Ringo
@@SomeNiceChips Agreed
Neil number 1!!
1. Neil Peart
No doubt
No debate
Where is Omar Hakim?
Is he a rock drummer though? Great jazz drummer with some cross-over into rock. Otherwise, you're right. He would be in the top 20 if he qualified in this category.
@@pcoleman1971is vinnie c a rock drummer? steve gadd? ginger baker always said cream were a jazz trio. and no dave weckl?
these lists are always subjective, sometimes just a list of "drummers/guitarists/bassists/whatever that i like this week".
No Kenny Aronoff?
Travis Parker ahead of Vinnie Colauita fucked up the whole lost. 😂
Ringo ❤
Ringo 😅😂😅😂😅😂 yea right
Ian Paice, number one.
Great video, I'm amazed !
There were some important drummers missing from this list.
Where is Mick Tucker
Mick Tucker was a terror behind the kit!! He should definitely be in the top 5!!
My thoughts exactly 👍
So many to choose from. John Panozzo from Styx was underrated IMHO
This is more like a popularity list then a actual talent list
How about The Bear himself, the late great Lee Kerslake from Uriah Heep?
Michael Giles of King Crimson should be here, the drums on Pictures of a City, Groon, of course 21st Century Schizoid Man, he has some chops that sadly get overlooked sometimes
Can we get a moment of silence for Mick Shrimpton
John “Stumpy” Pepys (1964-1966) Died in a bizarre gardening accident, that the authorities said was “best left unsolved.”
Eric “Stumpy Joe” Childs (1966-1967) Choked on vomit of unknown origin, perhaps but not necessarily his own, because “you can’t really dust for vomit.”
Peter “James” Bond (1967-1977) Spontaneously combusted on stage during a jazz festival on the Isle of Lucy.
Mick Shrimpton (1977-1982) Exploded onstage.
Joe “Mama” Besser (1982) Claimed he “couldn’t take this 4/4 shit”; according to an MTV interview with Spinal Tap in November 1991, he disappeared along with the equipment during their Japanese tour. He is either dead or playing jazz.
Richard “Ric” Shrimpton (1982-1999) Allegedly sold his dialysis machine for drugs; presumed dead.
Sammy “Stumpy” Bateman (1999-2001) Died trying to jump over a tank full of sharks while on a tricycle in a freak show.
Scott “Skippy” Scuffleton (2001-2007) Fate unknown.
Chris “Poppa” Cadeau (2007-2008) Eaten by his pet python Cleopatra.
Plus 9 other drummers at various times (Probably between 1970 and 1981) all of whom are dead
And not one made the list. Shocking.
You forgot Rick Allen of Def Leppard.
Even when he had 2 arms he wasn't top 50
Corky Lang of Mountain should be on this list
Thank you for putting Phil Rudd on this list
Moody Blues Graeme Edge, inventor of the electronic drum kit
I Didn’t know about that, but he is underrated
@@cybo56 as was the rest of the group the bassist is considered one of the 10 most influential bass players on the planet. the keyboard player introduced the mellotron to the Beatles, Sgt Peppers and lead singer/guitarist was voted most recognizable voices in music and for sometime after the Beatles broke up, the Moodies were the most popular band in the world
I’m just happy that Metal was well represented. I could argue rankings but beauty is in the ear of the beholder.
I've been drumming since 1967 with Danny and Ian as mentors. I don't totally agree with the top pick order but us musicians are in a world of our own and inspiration is personal.
Ginger Baker is so good. I've been listening to some early 60's British blues and rock lately and he was just on an entirely different level from everyone else in the scene already by 1962 (his work with Alexis Korner). I understand why Bonham and Peart and Moon are above him, but he's probably my favorite of them all.
Where is Tommy Aldrige and Mikky Dee?
Mikky Dee is monster of rock drumming 👍
Can I please mention Ainsley Dunbar and Carmine Appice
This countdown is pure comedy Gold
Karen Carpenter Dude.. opinion sminions..Alex Van Halen is my favorite..and very underrated Peter Criss
Carmine Appice needs to be on the list.
Nice to see Danny Seraphine on the list.

Simon Phillips?
Stephen morris from joy division?

Neil Pert number 1 Keith Moon 2 Bonham 3
Where is bev bevan? Amazingly talented drummer for elo and also played for black sabbath.
Thx for putting John Densmore he is so underrated
Pretty good list. 👍👍
You got the top 3 right, just in the wrong order

Keith Moon #1
Phil Collins not in Top 10 is very big mistake
I think that roger Taylor not in top ten is a big mistake
@@carrotnonumbershere100% agree.
Roger plays as Good as Ginger Baker and sings as good as phil collins.
Phil collins shouldn't even be in the top fifty.

Peart is #1!
