  • Are you looking for a new productivity tool? Or are you looking for a knowledge-management tool to build your own second brain? Well, look no further because in this video I will be comparing three popular productivity and knowledge-management apps: Notion, RemNote & Obsidian. I will discuss the purposes each app was built for, how each app structures information, how one of these apps can also help you to memorize information using active recall and spaced repetition, and discuss the availability of each on these apps on desktop and mobile devices.

6:45 RemNote works offline too in its desktop app and also it has an option for local knowledge in which data is stored on your computer only

Thanks for adding this! I personally used RemNote in the browser app so never came across this feature. This is really great for everyone who might want to use RemNote for sensitive data or without an internet connection 😊

Hey! Thanks for pointing that out :) that is true, we are local-first and truly hybrid. We should make this more apparent!

Very concise and coherent summary. As a user of obsidian and notion, spot on. I want to try out remonte for the flash card and the ability to use it on the web as opposed to obsidian where you’re locked down to only devices synced to your chosen storing system. Keep it up!

This was a very useful overview and summary. I am currently working on several projects that require literature reviews and consolidating data. I think Obsidian will be very useful to organise my thoughts and information. Thanks xxx

I use RemNote to collect keywords... Then I organize the keywords with inquiry learning via mindmap

Hey! Great video. I like how confident you are, the way you explain everything and the content value.
I would recommend to use more B-roll and use good external mic. Good luck in your CZcams journey!

I noticed Remnotes and Obsidian have a Chat GPT plugin developed by the community, also Notion AI has a similar functionality. Have you tried any of these?. I do my research in a combination of CZcams and AI tools like Bard, Claude, and Perplexity.
Nowdays I think this is one of the main factors to consider since I need a way to connect my research and organize it. I want to automate the system of organizing and storing by using scripts or software.
It is important to me that the app is multi platform so it can be accessed through all the devices of the Apple ecosystem.
Before going through each app’s learning curve I’d like to know your thoughts on which one is more suitable for the AI environment that we live in one year after you made this video.
How has your approach to research and knowledge management adapted to manage AI research text?

I was in search of a application to organise my brain and life, keeping track of the daily work to retrieve them by customer with back link, …
I also have a student life and a need of PDF upload.
I was confused after the video … I didn’t understand what to choose or a bundle of Obsidian and RemNotes.
    Could you clarify ?

    • @ALifeofLearning
      @ALifeofLearning  Před rokem

I would say Obsidian, as PDF upload is limited in the free version of RemNote if I remember correctly ☺️ Good luck!

@@ALifeofLearning - But Obsidian (as local and safe) might therefore require storage possibilities even if external HD is possible. The users need thus to find a backup solution.

I think there's a plugin in obsidian that can do that. I don't know if it's feature rich for the S Pen/Apple Pencil though, maybe you want to try it.
