  • Star Hampshire was a weekend of New England contra and square dancing. It was started by Patrick Stevens in 1992, organized by him for 15 years until his untimely death in 2007, and continued by a committee until 2019. In all, some 600 people attended the event, held an hour's ferry ride from Portsmouth, NH, to Star Island, part of the Isles of Shoals. This slide show was created for the 25th anniversary of the weekend.
The soundtrack is a medley of three tunes, Black Cat Quadrille _ Prince Imperial Galop _ George Cheroux, played by Old New England (Jane Orzechowski, fiddle; Deanna Stiles, flute; Bob McQuillen, piano) from their album ONE III.
