  • Our nearest star, that is the engine sustaining life on Earth, will one day run out of fuel. When this happens, the Sun will start expanding dramatically, forming a red giant and engulfing much of the solar system including the inner planets, vaporizing oceans; formerly icy planets will become habitable.

Absolutely love these lectures! As I have mentioned before, it's always an amazing day when I find the new PKB video available 👏
I doubt Prof. Blundell reads these comments but... Your a fantastic lecturer Kate!

Truly outstanding lecturer. However, I do find the frequent me, my and mine across many lectures ("my telescopes" etc) somewhat jarring. Science today is a team, collective pursuit and rarely a solo effort.

22 year cycle? ive never heard of that, I been led to believe the solar minimum maximum cycle is 11 years.

She's explaining the solar micro nova. It will restart after it blows its shell off but it will flip its poles and flip the earth 90° forth and back all in one day while still spinning. That is the revelation of the apocalypse. Not an eclips.
