I love the film just as it is. I am off to The Gambia next week and this is giving me a brilliant test over finding the names of the birds. I have my field guide beside me and with notes and pauses i am getting them one by one . . . rollers, bee-eaters, herons . . . wonderful. Thanks for posting. All the best, Gary - The Biking Birder.
First 5 minutes . . . . I have probably made some mistakes but here goes . . . White-faced Scops Owl, Maribou Storks, fly past Kelp Gull, Cinnamon-breasted Bunting, Black-headed Heron, Namaqua Dove, Masked Weaver sp. (Vitelline) but head seems too dark? Female Red-cheeked Cordon-Bleu, female Namaqua Dove, Magpie Mannakin, Lavender Waxbill,Abyssinian Roller, Northern Black Flycatcher, Red-throated Bee-eater, Grey-headed Bush Shrike, Yellow-billed Oxpecker, Little Bee-eater, White-crested Helmet Shrike, Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, (OK we know who that one on their British list!), Egyptian Plover. . . .
@@bikingbirder2010 Northern White-faced owl (name), Yellow-fronted Canary, Bronze Manakin and Black-billed Wood-dove (with the Cordon-bleu), Blue-bellied Roller (before Abyssinian), Probable Red-necked Falcon, Brown Snake-eagle, Grasshopper Buzzard, Lizzard buzzard, (and just after, a raptor I don't know for sure, looks a bit like a juvenile Martial Eagle?), White-backed Vulture, Greater Painted Snipe, African Finfoot, White-fronted Plover...
Vicarious birding pleasure. I'd love to bird the Gambia someday
These films are stunning. I live in Gambia but haven't seen many of these birds and don't get such a close at many of the ones I have seen. Thank you.
Wonderful footage
A valid point, and noted.
