    I recently bought a used 461. I got a good deal on it and was curious how it would match up against my 362. I was shocked at how much more powerful the 461 is. I even put an 8 point sprocket on it after feeling how much torque that thing had and it never bogged down cutting through live oak and sycamore logs with a 25" bar. I run a 20" bar on my 362 and it will catch and bog down on larger logs, but the 461 just chewed through everything and asked for more.
    I bought the 462 intending it to be an occasional saw for the "big stuff", but I'm now seriously thinking of selling the 362. I do have a 250 (my first Stihl from about 12 years ago) that I'll eventually replace with a 261 but the 250 just won't die and it's light and handy for the small stuff.

    The 461 has way more torque but the 462 is a little beast for the weight. I was suprised with it off the shelf but since have done a few mods. Can't have anything stock 😊

    I'm deffently bummed they made the 462 .1 horsepower less yeah it's about a pound lighter but so freaking what. I love my 460 I just ordered Chinese 660 dogs for it they arrived and makes my saw look little cooler only cost 11 dollars but they are not lined up. Unfortunately they are off by probably 3/16th of an inch but it shouldn't matter. Darn Chinese parts.

      as for the 660 dogs. I believe it's the inner spike which is different on the 046 460 and 461. Kinda stupid really... if I remember right the same dawgs work on 036 360 361 362 044 440 064 066 660 but not on the 046 460 461.

    I am not surprised. The 461 is in a class by itself. The 462 is for folks that need the latest and greatest, and for those that need "some sort of" justification, a couple of pounds were shaved off it. Unless you are pruning branches, most cutting is done on the ground where the weight of the saw is supported by the log, so has little to no importance.

    • @jasonsechrist1
      @jasonsechrist1 Před 4 lety +5

      I have to call BS, I've cut a lot of wood, and I'll take the lighter saw any day, especially the older I get, 2 pounds is a lot, and you'll notice it immediately when you pick the 2 up.

    • @canamrider7195
      @canamrider7195 Před 3 lety +2

      @@jasonsechrist1 If you had neither, of course you would pick the 462. But would you shelve the 461 and buy a 462 for the weight savings. I have the 461, and I am not at all tempted to get a 462, as if I had a $1000 burning a hole in my pockets.
