My P.S. pump on my Lincoln continental is doing the same thing. It has a lot of run out, like your pump in the video. Also it's leaking from the seal. I figured it failed and you showed me I was correct. Thank you for the information.
I can understand you just fine. What's with all the comments saying they can't understand you? It's not like he's a black or something. It's just about impossible to decipher what they try to say in their broken English mumble jig talk.
Peter I have a 1997 Lexus lx450 and I have no power steering even when sit still. I replace the power steering pump same problem then I replace the power steering gear assembly and still problem not fix, what could be my next step?
@@ThomCountryfan ... no the slop is in the little "rod" that the pulley attaches to... replace the pump... I literally just tore mine apart trying to figure this out... replace the pump and be done. My 5.4 triton has 195k miles... just replace pump that comes with a new pulley...
i have same toyota innova 1tr fe power steering pump have same issue it have already a space 1mm also... the belt making the noise because of that power steering pump
Just wrong. I have a brand new pump sitting right here that has that exact same amount of play as the one I am replacing, about 1.5mm. This is why people should not just trust a mechanic without researching. If you were to disassemble one of these, you would see for yourself that the play in the pulley is intentional, and in no way has anything to do with the sealing or pumping capability. The play is there to compensate for misalignment. This guy is either a liar or a bad "car doctor". You choose whether either of those is someone from which you want to take advice.
Was the brand new pump fine? My ps pully has about the same amount of play this guys does. Steering feels fine but i feel i have a leak in the system somewhere as the fluid looks like it boiling when cars on. Potentially really old fluid i plan to flush it partly and see if that helps or look for bad seals. But dont want to waste my time if its just the pump/pully gone bad.

Since it has movement will it keep knocking the belt off?
I don't think so, because the ps pump is not self adjustable.
My 97 chevy monte carlo PS pump pully is making noise could that be a bearing?

Please check hoses.
Have you find the solution? I am having the same problem.
I think my power steering pump is leaking. Where would the leak be if its the pump ? I have same engine
Can you just replace the pulley instead of the whole unit?
Yes
So the slack is in the pulley not in the bearing of the pump?

that is no where near testing a P/S pump; you need a T adapter and a pressure gauge.
