The red's definitely deserve an A this is coming from a Cardinals fan. There the only team in the central that got better and I saw them getting better through out the year. I'd put my money on them winning the division.
As a Brewers fan, it hurts. But I also don't think they were gonna go far in the playoffs. The Brew Crew had a breakout season two years ago but noticeably regressed the following season. You forgot about the Pedro Strop signing by the Reds. He’s a very solid bullpen arm - just what the Reds needed. The Reds’ offseason definitely gets an A grade from me!
I might just be totally biased but I don't understand why the Giants got an F. They acquired Will Wilson who was the 15th pick in the draft for nothing, Gausmen and Smyly both project well for oracle park, Hunter Pence was an all star last year and should be able to platoon well with Alex Dickerson, while guys like Yolmer Sanchez and Wilmer Flores add some nice depth. Not to mention that we also hired a new coaching staff and our farm system greatly improved.
Cubs offseason wasn’t as bad as most think. They were an 84 win team that managed that despite being heavily injured, not having any semblance of a professional bullpen, and effort issues. If they get a bullpen that is just bad, and not historically terrible, then they should get back to being a 90 win ish team
The moves the Giants made are basically an attempt to replicate what they did with Pomeranz last year, which I actually like. Bring some average to decent pitchers into the most pitcher-friendly park on a very low-risk, high reward contracts to try to flip them at the deadline for prospects. Cueto will be gone by July and hopefully will bring in a huge haul. He's got playoff and WS experience, he's under contract through 2021 so he's not just a rental, and would be a nice arm to add to a team like the Braves, Yankees, Twins, Dbacks, etc. that might need an extra arm to make a push for a title. They also have a lot of bullpen arms that could possibly go to teams that are in need of arms because that's always a need at the deadline. We have almost no young pitching unless Dereck Rodriguez shows his 2019 struggles were a fluke and not his 2018 success. Logan Webb seems like our best hope for a long term guy for the rotation, but he's not a #1 by any means. We are stacked with position players in our farm system with guys like Bart, Ramos, Luciano, Bishop, etc., but need to bring in some more pitching talent. We could also use an impact bat at first. Hopefully we see Davis and Dubon develop this year into solid starters, and Yaz hopefully can improve on his great rookie campaign last year. Flores adds nice depth in the infield, and having Pence back will provide nice depth as well. An outfield of Davis, Yaz, and Pence/Dickerson in a platoon role could be very respectable. Throw Dubon in there as a utility guy, and the outfield doesn't look too bad. Hamilton could provide good defense and speed, but idk if he makes the team out of camp. The infield will look rough with Crawford, Belt, Longoria, and Dubon/Flores, and until the Brandons are off the payroll, it'll be rough. edit: actually wtf is Gabe kapler doing in a Giants jersey??? I guess Farhan wanted a guy that he can have control over in how he wants the games anaged? Idk. Not exciting at all
I Agree A+ For My White Sox. It's About Damn Time That They Actually Made Some YOUNG Free Agency Moves Instead Of Getting Guys Past Their Prime Like They've Historically Done.
More Adjusted Grades (after Contract Extensions) A's-D (They didn't do much, but then again they couldn't really do much as they have little money to work with) Brewers-B+ (Stearns saved his money and smartly banked his money on Yelich for an extra 7 years.) Giants-B- (Zaldi knows what's he's doing-now his hands aren't tied by management and the Giants can properly rebuild.) Rockies-C- (Pissing off Arenado was very bad, but the Oberg and Story Extensions should work well for their future.) White Sox-S (This is better than an A+, the Moncada extension was icing on the cake for their offseason.)
Always hilarious to me to hear a Mets fan say good things about the Braves. Speaking of you didn’t even mention the King Félix pickup there. If Braves can get anything close to a Anabal Sanchez season out of him it going to be amazing.

“I wish they had brought in a center fielder”. The Mets brought in Marisnick. His bat is inconsistent (He’s a 240 hitter) but his defense in CF is unrivaled You’ll see. He wasn’t an everyday player in Houston because of springer but STILL led the Astros in 5 star catches.
As a Cards fan still holding out hope on Arenado, otherwise I guess it is another year of trying to win the division in the last week and have a small playoff run.
Reds added Pedro Strop, Nate Jones, Tyler Thornburg, Jose De Leon and David Carpenter to their MLB/AAA bullpens. A few reclamation projects but just need 2 or 3 to be decent.
Marc! You forgot about Cesar Hernandez for the Indians! Not a big boom move but I definitely feel is an upgrade over Jason Kipnis don't ya think? Keep up the good work!
Said he would have liked another bullpen arm for the Reds so he only gave them a B+... Reds acquired Pedro Strop, De Leon, Nate Jones, Justin Shafer, David Carpenter. All guys that could be solid out of the bullpen. Also, they brought back Dietrich, signed Matt Davidson, Travis Jankowski and others.
The twins also added Tyler clippard to their bullpen, and resigned sergio romo, and and jake odorizzi. If you factor in these moves also, would you rate them a bit higher, more of the B+ to A- range?
I'm new here so maybe I missed what you have against the Giants but, since it's my team, I gotta point out a few things; especially because you graded us an F (which you're entitled to, I mean it is your channel). You said if a team isn't getting better it's getting worse. We're not contenders by any stretch of the imagination, but we have made a few moves to improve the team, even if only a little: -Signed Wilmer Flores, but still get an F? We re-signed Dickerson and Solano who, although not stars, hit well for us last year. Also claimed Tyler Anderson, and Jarlin Garcia to bolster the pen. Again, not flashy, but solid. -Ok, hiring Kapler was not my first choice, I'll give you that. "Letting" Bum walk - while unpopular - can be debated. Same goes for Pillar. -No, Drew Smyly and Kevin Gausman aren't aces - but like the pass you gave to Detroit and Seattle, both SPs give us the opportunity to do well enough to flip them to another team in the Summer, much like Drew Pomeranz gave us Mauricio Dubon in 2019. Also non-roster invitees like Yolmer Sanchez (coming off a Gold Glove season), Trevor Cahill, Tyson Ross, Andrew Triggs, Trevor Oaks, etc. could also potentially bring a nice return should they make the team and do well. -Grading scale's a little inconsistent. You gave Baltimore AND Pittsburgh two grades higher? Because they got Jose Iglesias and Luke Maile? -Said Royals SHOULD be in rebuild mode and gave them a C. We ARE in a rebuild mode, whether people realize this or not, which explains the minimal moves we're making right now. I'm just making a case for my team, because, well that's just what fans do I guess. We're not an elite team right now, we're likely gonna finish 4th or 5th or, optimistically, 3rd; but no chance in the first 2 spots. We're still rebuilding.
I think the scariest thing about the Twins is that Cave-Larnach-Kiriloff is probably the second best outfield in baseball. After Rosario-Buxton-Kepler.
I think it makes sense to add Girardi as a pick up but I think just as important is Price. If he can turn Vinny V or PIvetta into an actual 5 starter it changes things for sure.

As a Red Sox fan, I think your grade of a D is generous. I'm not going to harp on the Betts trade, but needless to say a lot of Sox fans were pissed after that trade. Having said that, going into the offseason the team's biggest need was pitching and still is. They didn't get any, and they still don't have a closer. For that reason alone, not addressing the pitching, I would give them an F.
Giants got high prospect Will Wilson from the Angels to help bolster their system and help with the rebuild. Their offseason goals were not to win a 2020 WS.
