Viv, I just went on a Fabric Mart bender myself and bought about $350.00 in fabric. I was dreading it coming in but it has arrived, so I have to make things. Retail therapy is fun when shopping but later…let’s just say “Regrets, I have a few.”

Your enthusiasm is contagious, Viv! It's true, the process of choosing what to make, deciding what it will look and feel like, and then finding all of the components is immensely satisfying. And unlike a lot of art, you get to put it on your body and show it off! You have a nice way of explaining the different fabrics, something I need to learn and look forward to seeing in your videos. I think I have gotten better at figuring out how to use fabric and how to adjust sewing patterns to fit me from watching you. Plus, you're super charming and funny. How times have changed! I sewed a lot in late 70’s and early 80’s but bought a pattern and fabric and made them up one at a time- no such thing as a fabric stash. Came back to sewing 2 years ago and now have fabric mania like everyone else! I blame internet shopping - SO much choice and you don’t have to carry heavy fabric through town. Virtually nowhere to physically buy fabric near where I live in UK so online shopping it is. Love your channel Viv. You always make me smile. 😊
Oh yeah, I've been reminiscing of the clothes I made back in the late 70's and 80's, repurchased the patterns and I'm going to made my new wardrobe with all my old favorites.
Oh Viv! What a wonderful day to see your fabrics! You could show us last years haul and I would be happy as a clam! I was SO excited to see the navy background with the orange tropical flowers… I have a cut of that too. Please show us what you make with it. I plan for a dress or a skirt and blouse. Your comments about serotonin and endorphins is spot on! The 2 Hobby Lobby’s her where I live (So California) have actually expanded their floor space……but in the end the fabrics are all the same and in my humble opinion, are just the same ole, same ole choices. The thread display hasn’t had a refill in months as well. The patterns are restocked but yeah, no sales….

Hobby Lobby here has also diminished in inventory, especially sewing fabrics and other sewing notions. I don't go much anymore. I have stopped buying from fabricmart completely since covid began. The prices got higher, and I have enough fabrics to sew until I check out. I am content and happy to sew with the fabric I have and patterns too! Nice haul, always nice to see how your are doing.
I simply love that you show the pattern and # up close. Then you tell us about the material you used and then the finished product. Absolutely hands down the best presentation i have seen!! Thank you so much! I will continue to watch and i will tell others about this channel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely love when you talk about your fabric. I would love to make some clothes for myself but have NO idea what kind of fabric to buy for anything. Even when I feel it at the store it just doesn't feel right....So keep on talking...and Have a Great Day!!
I read that the owner of Hobby Lobby turned it over to his son. I also watched a lady from Canada on CZcams and she said they are shrinking the sewing and craft sections & increasing home decor. Fabric & patterns were my reason for shopping there. The only other fabric store is JoAnns & it's 30 minutes away & extremely high traffic area. I don't drive there.

Loved your fabrics. Have to restrain myself from ordering too often from Fabric Mart, but the sales are hard to beat. Everybody makes decisions in life as to what is important/makes them happy/brings joy/etc in life. I choose sewing, fabric, crafts to invest time and money in. To each their own.
Great haul Viv! I'm a Fabric Mart girl too. Can't help myself and I can't justify the prices at JoAnn even with a coupon or "on sale" pricing. You explained the process of planning a make perfectly. I just enjoy going into my sewing room, looking at patterns, touching the fabric and pairing them up, of course in my robe with my coffee. Retirement is a blast!
I'm so conservative (boring) with my fabric choices. Seeing all your prints may just entice me to step outside my comfort zone.

What a marvellous avalanche of fabric ❤ Yes, slips are a thing and far easier than lining everything (or making everything twice as it sometimes feels) but when I suggested a slip to my daughter recently 😱, my, how she laughed at me 😂🤣. Best opening! hahaha! You always select such beautiful fabrics, Viv. I'm going to try to not check out the Alyssa May fabrics. My sew-jo has been missing since losing two of our senior kitties in February. I've actually been liquidating some of my garment fabric collection because most are from my old work lifestyle and I know a good, Christian organization that can get them in the hands of someone who will make better use of them than me. Sorry about your Hobby Lobby. Ours has reduced fabric now too but their employees are just lovely. Funny peignoir story: I was an advanced sewer in Home Ec and for my senior final garment made Vogue 9951 (70's) out of a pretty shell pink nylon tricot, stretch ecru lace yardage for the robe and ecru lace trim. It was the last Vogue pattern I sewed for many, many years lol! 😳 It went into my hope chest and four years later came along on my honeymoon. Bet you'll enjoy swimsuit construction. Fun notions to use, small pieces to sew and finish with amazing results. My current body is wanting to see the good old Edwardian swim costumes make a comeback. haha! How nice for a baby boy relative to sew for, whatever you make will be adorable. My final grandbaby (girl) is coming at the end of summer. Must enjoy All. The. Baby. Things. Be brave, master that cover stitch machine girl. My late mom gave me her Bernina serger that converts to cover stitch but only with massive amounts of profanity so I don't cover stitch. Please do a part two on your other fabric acquisitions. I do so enjoy a good 'visit' with you no matter the camera skills or what. Just like Joy, you are a delight and a blessing.
Kate at Pattern Emporium in Australia made a Smitten jacket, like a denim jacket, out of swimsuit fabric. It look amazing. Love your fabric: my favourite would be the one with the buildings on in.
I should get an in with you. I hate doing the prep work and just love the sewing part. 😂

Try swimwear! It’s so easy. I make rash guards for grandkids and have sewn many suits. I’m not sure why we think they’ll be hard to sew, but honestly they sew up fast. I line suits with skin colored firm mesh knit that holds one in if needed. I can’t think of where I get it, but get a good quality. This was fun looking at all of your haul!❤️❤️

I can't believe l've never bought from Fabric Mart😮 Well, I'm just going to have to do something about that! 😂 You're so right about Hobby Lobby...back when they opened a store in my town back in the 2000s, their fabric selection and quality was superb. Now, it's just dismal. JoAnn's prices are too high for the quality. It's sad because so many people are now home sewing. Well, I can't wait to see what you create with these fabrics.

30 or 40 years ago, I made my sister a Bengaline hoodie with all the hardware.. in black with the low level chine; it was dressy. She wore it on her Paris trip.
But back then, no lycra stretch.

In the UK where I live there are very few fabric shops and hardly anywhere to buy patterns. I hate buying on line, it never looks the same as the picture, I like to touch the fabric

THIRTEEN things cut out! I would totally forget what I cut out and what the pattern was. May really will be full of new garments for you at that rate. You got some really pretty fabrics there. A lot of them match your new paint color. I have myself grounded from the FMF emails or I would have ordered a lot of those yummy fabrics.
