Gems have a inherit purpose and nature... mixed fusions do not. They are a completely new being thus free to choose. That's why Pearl was addicted to fusing with Garnet, the only way she could stop being a "Pearl".
I thought it was because she was tired of feeling/being weak and wanted to feel strong and confident with herself.

What if the reason Era 2 Gems don't have as many powers is because of the absence of pinks tears. What if they have to combine all 4 secretions to get a good mix.
HOOO , I like this theory , and the "lack of resources" was the way of the diamonds to put it for other gems who did not need to know how gems are actually made.
Sydney ღ Which begs the question of how old each Diamond is & how long the Diamond Authority has been conquering the Galaxy. We always assumed Pink was the youngest because she was the shortest & acted more like a child than the others, but what if they’re all the same age?
I'd just like to add the fact that when a medium sized star dies and all it's energy is depleted, it cools into a white dwarf and then finally a black dwarf. Black dwarfs look like giant floating lumps of coal but when you cut into it, it's a solid diamond. Considering the fact that White Diamond is so bright and Homeworld is crumbling around her, I believe she is not a diamond but infact a white dwarf. She often refers to pink diamond as starlight which leads me to believe that she came from a black dwarf, especially since some of her drawings depict a comet or shooting star next to the three other diamonds. Pink was never "made" instilled with s loyalty to White which may be why she was able to defect.

The idea of White Diamond being the mother of other Diamonds lines up with how I see Yellow and Blue's relationship with Pink. I always had the impression that they were sisters and not mothers to Pink, but basically had to raise her themselves anyway. Like how an older sister would behave towards her younger siblings because of their absent or emotionally distant mother. Never liked the idea of Yellow and Blue being the actual "mom"s, idk it seemed icky.
I agree that that makes sense but their relationship is kinda vague. There are some scenes, like their arrival in trial that have them in a somewhat romantic pose. Also, in scenes were they are both talking to Pink it is usually Blue doing the talking and Yellow standing behind/beside her which is heavily reminiscent of the 'distant father figure' trope.
I think that White is the "Scary Mom". While Yellow and Blue are more of a normal mothers.

It seems more like a hive of ants the lower ranking gems like peridots, pearls, and rubies are like workers, all of the quartz gems are like soldier ants, and the diamonds are like the queens who "reproduce" and control the "colony". And like ant queens they're a lot bigger then all of their subordinates.

I like this idea, I feel like it explains why yellow diamond was salty about Steven getting to see white. Yellow claimed that she has many successful colonies but hasent gotten to see white at all. It's reminiscent of a child vying for their mothers attention and approval. Even though yellow is a good leader and a competent diamond she still wants white to acknowledge it.

Would probably contribute to why Yellow in particular was so hard on Pink. And Pink had to deal with that without really knowing why.
If I’m being honest the more detail they go into about the gems lifecycle the less “evil” the diamonds seem. It’s wrong to talk about them as dictators (to use a human term) when gem “biology” makes them far more similar to ants or other insects than humans as there are biological difference between them. Ant society’s have natural predefined roles/casts that a individual is born in to and are specialised for.
This also makes the aversion to fusion make sense, gems can be addicted/obsessed with it, we see this twice, once with Jasper and Lapis, and with what happened with Pearl and Garnet. In this context for gem society fusion is a net loss, as the new gem can’t fulfil its component’s task as the individual would. Garnet is really the exception that proves the rule as Ruby’s job was to protect Sapphire in the first place.

Blue and Yellow think Steven is Pink Diamond because they don't understand the concept of being a mother, they've been mothers since the very beginning and they just don't get it, but if they ever understand what that means, they might feel empathy for their own creations and they'll understand that Steven is not Pink Diamond but his own person, someone completly different.

Steven is an innately different being from Pink/Rose, so it's more accurate to say he's still a sibling to all of Pink's creations, but he was created through a different process and has a larger concentration of material from her.
As for motherhood, gems inherently lack an understanding of the concept; they instinctually know the Diamonds are their creators, but they have no innate concept of it since they cannot reproduce. Meanwhile the Diamonds have very little attachment to their creations beyond seeing them as tools.

This somewhat enlightens upon the subject of loyalty. Since all gems are in essence apart of their Diamond, they feel a connection to these beings as if they themselves are the Diamond they were made to work for. It can possibly mean that any small or large mistake an incompetent gem could make may be taken as the personal failure of Yellow Diamond herself. As Yellow may see it as a revelation of a small impurity within or from herself. The same can be observed within Blue Diamonds tears of sorrow empathically affecting other gems around her. Smaller gems feel what she is feeling is literal because they represent the smaller part of herself. Imagine not being loyal to your oneself, neglecting to see the importance of care for oneself. Each gem are essentially looking after there own form as much as they care for their Diamonds form.
The smaller parts of the greater whole being. This isn't to say that they can't be their own conscious being and follow their own dreams and desires, which is what Pink is about. The Diamonds internalized rebellious desire toward White Diamond is revealing itself within the gems rebelling in the first place. The Diamonds may be concerned how White may realize this and destroy everything that has been worked towards, with White probably not giving a second thought over wiping the slate clean and starting again, this includes recreating Diamonds, considering how polarized White is to Pinks emotions.
The gems being a reflection of the Diamonds personal traits and essentially being their Diamond doesn't seem to be much of a stretch to me and it could possibly make for some interesting law. Personally rather then a maternal relationship one has with another, it is the internal relationship one has with themselves where the inner struggle/battle we fight everyday to be very relatable. The gems may represent that Diamond conflict whether they realize it or not and they may just be the Diamonds as well.
I can imagine Yellow taking responsibility for her subjects failures. She is angry at herself for the personal failure and takes it out on those subjects that are all to quick to reveal her own incompetence or weakness. So she lashes out not really dealing with or finding a proper solution for her internal issues.

I wonder if the diamonds ... secretions ... are used only for the production of gems within their individual courts or if a proper, fully functional gem requires some kind of mixture of the secretions from all 4 diamonds?
Peridot had mentioned they “can’t make gems like they used to” on homeworld because of a resource crisis - could it be Pink’s essence missing from the mixture that is making it difficult to create powerful gems?

Personally, I think the process of making gems represents something. Hear me out (it’s kinda a stretch).
White Diamond represents (Blood)
She has tube-like objects coming out of her arms. As of this post, the current use of those tubes are unknown. You can see those tube all over Homeworld.
Yellow Diamond represents (Sweat)
This is due to her having a sauna and her “sweat” being harvested. Also, she seems to be doing a lot of the hard work. Yellow stated in the episode Familiar she literally has HUNDREDS of successful colonies now. So, she’s usually more hands on and hard working, no time for slacking off, or even “fun”.
Blue Diamond represents (Tears)
This due to her radiated pathokinesis, she has the ability to make gems/half-gems feel whatever she’s feeling (particularly extreme sadness). Another weird thing I’ve noticed is that 3 known gems that belong to Blue Diamond have tear/water droplet shaped gems. In her giant pool room, you see tubes at the front of the pool extracting the water (liquid) from the diamond shaped pool. And the diamond insignia at the bottom of the pool seems to drain the pool as well. Also, these tubes seem to be all over the room. As if it’s a network.
Pink Diamond represents?????
I currently don’t know what she represents or if she had a purpose at all at the beginning. Why? Because when Steven asked what his mom did all day, Pearl says she would host massive balls. That’s all? Nothing of importance or significance? Kinda weird.
So, to rap up this long post in a nice little bow, the diamonds represent “Blood, Sweat, & Tears” aka extremely hard work or unstinting effort. Which is what they all seem to be doing (besides pink diamond). Since she is simply treated like a child/little sister half the time.
what about heart or soul? you can put a lot of blood, sweat, & tears into something but if you don't have the heart & soul, if you don't truly care for it, none of what you put in matters.
I actually read a fanfic called “The Woman in White” which portrayed Yellow as being formed from White Diamond’s sweat, Blue as being formed from White’s tears, and Pink as being formed from White kissing the ground

What if Pink Diamond represented “saliva”
Saliva is in the mouth, mouths can kiss (an act which is done to show that you care).
Pink diamond’s whole arc and style of ruling was based around her care for her subjects and care for Earth. She was excited when her Rose Quartz emerged and even pretended to be one so she can hang out with them, she cared for the planet she was about to colonise so she tried to stop her colony, she started a whole rebellion so that she could get her subjects to care about themselves.
She cared so much for a human that she gave up herself so that a manifestation of her care and love could exist.
Going back to what @Gaby_George said: White diamond KISSED the ground (I know it’s a fanfiction but I thought I should bring it up).
Steven is an incredibly empathetic character who only does things like poofing and bubbling when it’s either self defence or it helps the enemy (corrupted gems, shard fusions etc). He tried to help nephrite (centipeetle) and many others because he cares about them.
Steven heals with SALIVA.
Steven has the ability to defend (The bubble and the shield), Steven tends to use his defensive abilities to keep others safe. He cares about them so he tries to defend them.
Considering all the things I said, I think if white diamond represented blood (Because she flows through others) and yellow diamond represented sweat (because she is harsh and hard-working) and blue diamond represented tears (because she is emotional and spreads those emotions into others), pink diamond represents saliva (because caring kisses involve saliva and she cares for others).
This could also explain why she was treated as a child. To the other diamond’s eyes, she was too soft and didn’t rule with an iron fist. She was seen as a soft, little kid who didn’t know how to do things properly.

I’m still surprised Steven brought a Pebble to life in a millisecond, when his previous creations usually took 12 hours to manifest. Are his powers growing? Do Homeworld rocks respond differently to Diamond secretions than Earth rocks? Was that rock always a Pebble, and Steven’s tear just woke it up as opposed to bringing it to life? Or does the process of burying the seeds of creation, allowing them to absorb outside nutrients, play a vital role in Gem crafting?
I don’t think that’s really a pebble like the others. The pebbles clearly have round “gems” and the thing Steven made doesn’t. I think it’s more similar to his other creations like pumpkin and the watermelon Stevens. And because he was in the extraction chambers, his sweat/tear was more concentrated so could explain it’s more instant reaction, or could just be a continued evolution of his powers
So I kinda have the theory that pebbles were the first gem makers, and could make gems out of nothing. But then the diamonds figured out how to make gems out of resources, which was faster and could be done faster. I think Steven might use this as a way to get the dimonds to chill

Gems seem more like equipment than children. They're made with a specific purpose in mind and are destroyed if they do not follow that function.
I actually think of it more like bees or ants. They are born to be a specific type of ant and they have a specific purpose and function to the society, including food gathers, nurses, soldiers, etc. Also, it's interesting to note that the vast majority of these kind of insects are female, with the exception being drones who are only there to mostly impregnate the queen. And like these societies, there is a central female figure (or figures in the diamonds case) that every being is loyal to.

To answer you’re question at the end of the video. It would depend on the Dimond.
The Dimond’s seem to have a total control over all that is in there authority. They seem to see all the other gems as ether worker/subordinates at best, or like gears in a machine at worst, which seem to transition to other gems. Weather it’s like how Peridot treated her sphere robots, how blue Agget treated the other earth gems, or the relationship between aquamarine and topaz. I kinda doubt the concept of the other gems being like there children could even be comprehended since all other forms of life are seen as lesser to them other than other Dimond’s.
That being said if I had to choose one Dimond that could possibly consider that it be blue Dimond. And no not just because I’m a huge blue Dimond fan. Blue seems to have a sister/motherly relationship with pink Dimond. And as we saw when blue and Greg talked she is able to relate with other beings, better than yellow who tends to be all business. Though there are definitely some she would definitely be more friendly and approachable with than others. There is still allot on bad blood between the Dimond’s and gems respectively, and possibly eons of tradition that would need to be broken.

This actually makes perfect sense. The way they can infer what gems are created is by analyzing the rocks and elements and conditions of the soil/Stone and giving them sentience. The injectors just pinpoint the highest concentrations of the minerals needed to form the specified gems,and inject this "sentience juice" into it. In Steven, it manifests in his bodily fluids.
If the injector fluid is sweat/tears/ ECT.. of the Dimond's then technically; Amythist, Jasper, all the earth made gems are Steven's big sisters.

Some people think Bismuth, Peridot and Lapis will go to Homeworld to help Steven. Maybe Yellow and/or Blue's destroyed ships have some robonoids like the ones Peridot had. And maybe they could use them to fix the Galaxy Warp. It would be a good idea since Steven is now on even terms with the Diamonds, so that would he great for travelling back and forth from his aunts' home.

Slice of Otaku you never fail to bring my excitment back to the surface for Steven Universe. I was genuinely unsure about how I felt about the most recent episode but now with this new info I didn't pick up on I'm seriously excited to see where the plot will go. It almost seems like a reason to force Steven to stay on homeworld thus making a new conflict should he decided on wanting to go home empty handed. Considering they did say that homeworld is low on resources. EXCITEMENT!!❤❤

After watching the movie, I think I understand gems being born know no their purpose. The Diamonds don’t get to choose what abilities each particular gem has, but they can control their role on home world. For example Spinel was able to take down three legendary warriors of the gem War in two minutes. I don’t think this was for plot purposes only though, I think it was part of a natural talent of the Spinel stretching and reforming themselves. So if they are such great fighters, why are the entertainers. Simple:To control them and prevent rebellion. If a group of Spinels all came together they could easily take out an army. It would be even easier if they had fight training, so they have to make them believe their only purpose is to entertain so that they would never even consider rebelling.
Another example is Bismuth. She created a weapon that could “shatter the Diamonds” to quote her. Imagine what would happen if other Bismuths thought “Hey, I wanna build weapons”. That would destroy the order installed by the Diamonds and they would likely be killed. There is a reason that they are born with specific purposes and lack of free will, until, of course, someone introduces the idea.
You could somewhat think of the diamonds as filling the role of insect queens, making all the infertile subjects. Other gems cannot reproduce, only the diamonds, prehaps the diamonds can make other diamonds, which is how pink, blue and yellow cane into existence?

the whole feality thing would also explain Lars's sudden change after Steven revived him. i dont think his arch is over yet. and since its been shown that the diamonds can have an effect in organic life. ie. Steven as well as Rose/Pink being able to heal and/or resurrect organic life. its possible that gems have a certain organic aspect to them. hence the fact that kindergardens in effect drain life from a planet. which the same carbon minerals ect, are indeed used by nature for oganic life.
Very interesting idea! It seems likely to me, however, that we're going to find out that White Diamond isn't who she seems to be; I've thought for a while (really since "Legs to Homeworld" first premiered online back in the summer) that there's going to someone much smaller and, dare I say it, pathetic behind the "curtain." And now with the Pebbles on the scene, I think that seems even more likely. I don't think my "White Diamond is a lump of coal Xmas theory" is going to be accurate (although it still would be really funny), but I think we're going to be very surprised when we get to know her more. And of what we've seen so far, any kind of parental aspect just doesn't seem to be there (with any of the Homeworld gems); my theory is that White wanted (and maybe still wants) to be a Permafusion with Pink, and I think that will come into play with "Battle of Heart and Mind."

Putting it like that, is it really any wonder that the diamonds act as they do? I mean basically, they are all Queen Bees leading and serving their collective colony. Of course, they're going to prioritize the needs of their kind over others.

We still don't know if this is how the Diamonds were created but I think the Song "comet" by Greg was a foreshadow for Pink Diamond. The lyrics explain how he was talk about his dreams of becoming someone great which is related to Pink being someone who lacks the strong characteristic as Yellow, White and Blue. Falling like a comet which maybe how she emerged from when she crashed on Homeworld or at least something similar.

Also brings up why in era two they are ‘low on resources’ to create gyms. Once link was gone, they didn’t have her..secretions... to add as well to the batch, thus them not having the same height or powers
It would make sense that you need all diamonds "extracted" to make all gems, since peridot mentions that in Era 2 resources were scarce and gems couldn't be made like they used to be made, hence the limb enhancers

Has anyone else connected this bit, era 2 started with pinks absence resulting in underpowered gems, perhaps the "extract" from all four diamonds are required to make full power gems. We see Seven/ pinks extract create a pebble at the end of "familiar" this along with the life granted to various other plants may indicate what the limit of an individual diamonds ability to create life is as well as the connection with curing the corruption on earth. Oh! And perhaps Stevens use of organic bases for new life may remedy the resource shortage on homeworld ( of course the resource they may have been short on could have been pinks extract)

What would Pink Diamonds/Stevens special chamber be? Something like an inflatable chamber? Or something like a garden? With a lake for fishes, trees for birds and other tree animals, etcetera

So if pink diamond really was off color, and suppose to be red. Does that explain why almost all the gems from homeworld were off color or had some sort of issue with there creation. Because if they use her essence to make it, that would set up a lot of the gems made from her essense to be off color.
Steven is a diamond & human. Does that mean all gems that made this new extracted liquid will have a organic element to them?
It’s also this ability of Dimond’s to give life and sentience to other thing via secretions that doesn’t have me fully convinced about the harvest theory for the walls, statues, and comb. Since all those things were ether near or at their respective Dimond’s extraction chamber, it could just be a after effect.

I don't get it. Why is everyone suprised by Yellow Diamond's sauna? That water on her are the water droplets that appear when something or someone is in steam or mist. The room sucks out the droplets so she isn't covered in them before a meeting.

I believe that the juices that the diamonds extract out of them is what creates gems. They inject the diamonds juices into the material that will create the gems such as earths rock created amethyst. And if white light is all the colors light combined Then it makes sense why our Pearl would belong to white cause she’s the only pearl with more than one color on her outfit unlike yellow and blue pearl they’re only blue of different shades

When peridot was talking about all the best conditions for the prime kindergarten, she knows that combined with Diamond essence would form proper soldiers.

Something that captured my attention is how the symbol of this "new" chamber at 1:28 has W and Y on the same level and B below. Maybe that is how Y thinks the hierarchy is rn, considering how bossy she is with B.

You know what I find interesting about the diamonds? The gem placement, blue and yellow both have there gem on there chest while white has hers on her head and pink has hers on her belly. It's just like there dimond symbol with blue and yellow being in the middle of the symbol and pink being at the bottom and white being at the top.
I also think that placement means something about there authority with white being at the top, it means that she has the highest authority and pink has the lowest because she's at the bottom of the symbol.
and there hight says a lot too because pink, blue and yellow dimond are short compared to white dimond but blue and yellow are a little more taller than pink.

In a way mixed fusion is a creation of a new gem something that until then was exclusively diamond power. That could explain the threat they feel from it. As for motherhood I think we’re seeing more and more humanity in the diamonds so the idea that they have no concept of love or family doesn’t seem entirely true to me, even if they have different terms they clearly love and care about each other and to an extent their gems.
I wonder what would happen if Steven licked/cried on like a jewelry store gemstone. would it just be like a really shiny pebble or would he create an actual full-blown Gem?

Ive been saying for years that Gem-society is modeled after Ants/Bees with the Diamonds being 'Queens' in a sense and their underlings being soldiers/workers/drones.
That being said, are Diamonds made via White with a sort of 'Royal Jelly' that would turn them into Diamonds rather then a normal underling?
We know in Ant/Bee society only the Queens are capable of laying eggs so it makes sense that only Diamonds would be capable of creating life. Again, why the presumption of a Diamond being shattered was so terrible for Gem Society - they need them in order to continue to live as a species.

This theory of the extraction chambers could explain the concept of pearls and why they resemble their owners, like how the watermelon Stevens look exactly like him, and how Blue and Yellow’s pearls closely resemble their respective diamonds
What if Homeworld has a separate extraction chamber for the sole purpose of making pearls, extracting the essence of a selected gem which is then added to a Pearl yet to emerge to create their own personal servant
This would also explain homeworld’s treatment of pearls, seeing as they are technically not gems created in the image of a Diamond, but of another gem, like a doll made to look like the child it was given to, and is why Eyeball was excited to receive her own pearl, and why Peridot in an earlier season commented on our Pearl being ‘fancy’
