Se existe outra encarnação, quero vir igual ao Portnoy, isso é divino. Amoooooo muitoooo. Que Deus o abençoe sempre.. Te amooooo como pessoa. Maravilhosooooo
Incredible mix. Myung's bass is actually audible. Jordan's keys really shine. And Petrucci's distortion comes off beautifully. I'm just not a fan of the over-saturation of DT's recent stuff, live or in studio.
I'm pretty sure this is just a soundboard recording from 2006, with a bit of boost on the drum track. Although, I will say that DT never sounds better than when they play at the Oakdale (as they did here).
@@sgthop i guess LaBrie fits more on the first 4 or so albums. But when Six degrees came out, you could already hear he should’ve been replaced. Caligula’s Horse’s singer would be a perfect fit imo
@@oscarolea4776 No His vocal tone is so melodic and beautiful and open during both Metropolis and 6 degrees, it's Train of Thought that doesn't really fit his vocal timbte/style
That's what DT needs nowadays! Energy, power, entertaining and also James LaBrie wasn't happy to run after the drumstick for nothing. MP noticed it LOL

are you blind or deaf? i love portnoy and i've watched a lot of his videos. and saying "dt is nothing without portnoy" is the biggest bullshit ever. all you can get from dt since portnoy left is their sound quality is clean than before. and even for their old age, they still can make an album like "distance over time" or song like "the alien"
The only time I ever wanted Rudess to shut up was at the end of Mirror. It is hands down one of the best parts ever from Dream Theater and his Solo there just does not fit in. Too bad he does it consistently on the live versions. Apart from that, always a masterpiece.
That's because mangini's just so accurate. Portnoy sometimes drags and rushes a bit when playing, and that's what make his playing feel human, the minor imperfections of being a living being. Besides, Mangini, I think, has a tendency to overthink what he does, which is a side effect of him being a music academic.
man that opening riff is dangerous
It is savage, brutal, criminally intimidating, it is majestic, it's unheard of. The whole song gives cold vibes and shivers . It's kinda creepy
He's back, the man behind the drums. Welcome back Mike Potnoy
12:50 might be the most entertaining thing I've seen. With suspense on top :)
5:23 that sadness bro. :D
Amazing! That's a show!
When talent, showmanship and supreme skill come together: Mike Portnoy
yes Mike is great....but the Singer is 7feet under ....baby Voice.....i cannot Listen because of.singer!!!!
@@goranbogataj8093 indeed. LaBrie sucks, him and the fact that the new drummer is bland as fuck ultimately made me stop listening to DT
@@goranbogataj8093 look.up liquid tension experiment no singer.
Eric is always on the ball. Vocal mic cues, spraying Mike's hands with water when he signals. One of the greatest drum techs in the game.
Wonder if he still works with DT. After MP left, he became Mangini's drum tech. The last time I've "saw" him was in a post about the 2017 tour.
@@TheDarkEternalKnight07 He still is.
@@ZeroHourDiscussions that's great! Eric is awesome
I feel like eric doesn’t get too known compared to mp or mm, the drummer would be nothing without the drum tech.
Stupid question what does the water do? As drummer my hands sweat too much I'd need a lil glue lol
The original snare drum sound that fit DT.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mike Portnoy = GOD of Drums
God of groooovee DT music ...Weckl Donati Chambers are gods and can groove

Portnoy was definitely the 'spirit' of DT. His presence is greatly missed.
He's finally back
Man, you got my hopes up. Don't see Mangini leaving anytime soon.
@Scar-05, who would've thunk it. I didn't. But it's actually happening. Really excited for the next album. Ecstatic!
Fuck dude, I could watch Mike drum all day, he's so talented...
I think Mike did a fantastic job in Mike's absence but I'm glad he's back
Nobody compares.....Mike doesn’t just play drums, he totally energises the viewer, amazing
When he starts going weird mixing latin bits and really strange rythms that's what gets me. Such a creative outside-the-box drummer.
The best "The Mirror/Lie" ever!!! This is Mike Portnoy!!!
Who still watching in 2019 ✋

Unfortunately you can still hear the singer.
@@sourcescience Back in the day, LaBrie could sing. Sure, his tone might be a bit divisive, but it wouldn't be Dream Theater without him.

THE BEST EVER!!!!!!!
Anybody notice that Portnoy's left kick and mini floor tom are not audible?
It was always audible in this recording, but I think that he isn't almost using it...
It seems he is using more hihat in this one...
Yes the mics are somewhat off left kick drum, tymp floor tom. Also in ‘Pull Me Under’ drumcam, mics are off.

Is it just me or is the left kick drum completely lost in the mix/inaudible?
Ok, that was pretty sick

Eduard Facturanan he tried to do that in Pull Me Under too for the same concert and failed again. The guy just couldn't catch his sticks that day.
Fail but very very amazing
The chugging part of the Mirror intro is reminds me of Pantera

the face of James at 13:08 he is very preocupated about the Mike's stick... lol but is Mike being Mike my friend

At 5:42, what does he get sprayed on his hands?
senna01 and what does he spray on the octos at 2:38?

I'm pretty sure it's just water to help him grip the sticks.
Its for better hand grip, it´s explained on some behind the scenes home video, of the Systematic chaos tour I think.

Oof, Labrie was struggling here
I would like to see Floor Jansen in this band today. They could try something like that.

I respectfully don’t agree with John Petrucci. Compared to Portnoy, Mangini has absolutely zero feel.
