One thing I came up with myself was to use something like extra strength Listerine mouthwash and cotton balls. I would suggest the strong minty flavored Listerine. All you do is tear a cotton ball in half and soak up some Listerine. Then place the cotton ball with soaked up Listerine into your bag and clip it. If you have gas that you need to let out, then it usually smells like the minty Listerine. And when you have to empty your bag, there isn't much of an odor.

Thank you, Sir, for your videos. I am a cancer patient and will be wearing a wafer/pouch very soon. Your commentary helps a lot.

@deejer2 I did have the "Backend operation" as well. I do have to say that it took a while to feel fully healed. I would have to say that It took my back end the longest to fully heal and that was close to 6 months. But hang in there. There is light at the end of the tunnel, I promise. Message me and Keep me posted on your progress.

I would like to thank you again and again for your videos-my mom just recently had to have an emergency colostomy. She is going home soon, and I was at a loss for what to do to help. I stumbled over your supply bag video and was immediately reassured. Your matter of fact attitude is reassuring and you have helped me realize that an ostomy isn't a major production, it's just a minor inconvenience. Thank you so much for your help. I will keep an eye out for more vids.

I really like your videos. I recently had an operation and wear a colostomy bag too...the 2-piece. I just wanted to mention that I was given the Adapt lubricating deodorant to use, but I had a serious problem with it. I am severely allergic to anything scented, so when I used the Adapt product, it almost instantly caused dizzy spells, which are not good. I am not putting down this product, but only cautioning anyone who is sensitive and/or allergic to scented products. I use the "Hollister m9" odor eliminator drops, which work very well. That product is "Hollister 7715" and comes in both large and small bottles. For carrying, the small bottle is 1oz 30mL size.

@busterevie1 I am sorry to hear the news that you will most likely be getting an Ostomy in the next few months. That is generally news no one wants to hear. However if I had the decision to make over again I would not have changed a thing. Now having my Ostomy I feel better physically and mentally. I can now go out side and do activities that I once would never have considered an option. Long car ride are now manageable. if you have any questions don’t hesitate to send me a message.

I have Crohn's too. 34 year old, got diagnosed at age 7. Got a colostomy at 12 and permanent ileostomy at 15. So I've lived pretty much most of my life with this and I truly understand you guys. I would like to start a google+ hangout with people who have ostomy and ibd's, if you are interested drop me a message on my channel. Best wishes.

After emergency revision and a flush stoma I have switched to a two part concave and discovered that I could extend appliance wear and cut odor by saving the bag part, and rinsing it thoroughly and place ten or more drops of Adapt in the top of the dried or new bag, insert my forefinger and massage the Adapt lubricant front, back, and top. Then massage the entire bag to fully coat the insde, This also helps prevent leaks from a thick discharge by assisting gravity and helps with odor as well.

    Hello,
I have had my ileostomy for 13 years now. I want you to know that I use my squirt bottle with water and Hydrogen Peroxide. That keeps the odor down as well. I love that stuff. But you have to be careful because it is so acidic. You have to play around with the mixing of it. So that you do not cause a scab to come on the stoma itself.

Hi outpatient. Great videos! I have to agree with the use of body sprays. They are great. I carry around a little impulse body spray and it works really well. Also..another great tip...mouthwash. You can transfer some into an empty travel shampoo bottle and take that with you too. Pour a little bit in your bag and that also helps with odour.

I have also heard that putting a tic tac or certs can be a real help with odor, probably any mint type candy could help, but I have yet to try this myself.

Hi there Outpatient83, I can't thank you enough for posting this video, especially regarding the hollister products I wear the same bag and was wandering about the odour control lubricant and wether it was a good product. I am in Australia and we here have Ostomy Associations where we can get these products from and only for the cost of postage and handling, for me it's Aus$12:00 + we pay a yearly members fee of Aus$45:00. So I will be trying the odour control lubricant. Thank you again

Try triple chlorophyll. My wife gets hers thru GNC stores online and at stores when she runs out. Pretty fair priced.

There was a U Tube short Video about washing out your bag with water, ensuring you don't get charcoal filter. She talked about adding an Abbott product to add to empty mag. It was dual purpose, firstly kept odour down even after a Garlic the residual odour was none existent. Other was it increased thickness of output to that of thick double cream. My nurse says e says not on her list but there again neither is your foil package, manufacturer, product mname etc
