    lol I really love how these two walk. Like Sabuko, they have great walking animations, they go well with their theme song and matches the beat, and it just oozes personality (in their case, their smug, prim and proper attitudes).

      Never played the game yet, but from the videos I've seen, the music at 1:15 seems to go very well when they start doing their rolling ball thing, especially with Hasebe's smug expression and backwalk animation.

    I really liked this boss so much, it feels very expected however considering that Misako and Kyoko have been kicking their asses since they were kids....
    It may be my inner Anime talking but Hasabe and Mami should have taken a highground against the player " When does the violence stop!?" How many of our classmates have you put into the Infirmary over your selfish desires~ If we don't stop your bloodlust here and now who will!?

    • @kinoleogeo7998
      @kinoleogeo7998 Před 2 lety +7

      That’s a little too high brow for RCG, if anything, you could say Mami and Hasebe encouraged the violence against Kyoko and Misako by rumors and popularity. The endings are light-hearted and goofy because, the beat-‘em up genre is just an excuse for action. Honestly, I would have loved the ending more if Mami and Hasebe were the actual final boss and Sabuko was the secret boss to link into the next game.

    This song is the equivalent of audible ecstasy to my ears. It's addictive and makes it very well worth it to beat down those 25 statues just so I can fight them and eventually hear them cry "Cheaters!" when I kick their smug little butts. That 4th life bar animation where they go absolutely ballistic is satisfying because they know they are losing a fight they know they'll never live down~ Always gets me fired up and in good spirits to hear this song. 11/10, will loop for weeks again~

  • @BlueMageWithSoulEdge
    @BlueMageWithSoulEdge Před 5 lety +67

    Does anyone know what Hasebe means? I know that it is a plant, but I can't shake the feeling that it also has another meaning to it (like Mami is also a plant, but it too means "True Beauty").
    Also since everyone is talking about the ending, I thought I should try my hand so here goes:
    I like both endings and have no problem with them. The secret one isn't to be taken seriously since they start off breaking the 4th wall. This lets you know that what is happening is none canon. The meta approach is to solve the question of the true timeline of the game. And they said screw both timelines and made their own in this new series. Yes, new 'cause the introduction of Way's Double Dragon is like a merging of the two series. Way is mainly telling the fans they are kicking out the old continuity (literally).
    The first one seems to have people discouraged. I don't feel this way since it was hinted throughout the game. When I saw the photo of Kunio and Riki I knew something was up. And Godai kinda screams foul play. What I think is that Godai used the girls to set up his own plans that may come to fruition in a sequel. The girls mainly go threw themes of the old Kunio series represented by each boss. In those themes, Godai is there waiting and gives you a mission that seems to tell its own story. Then there is the last mission where you take out Yakuza informants. That line he says hints at something more. The fact that the girls beat up the bosses and hopped down the yellow brick road is a by-product of Godai pulling them by the nose.
    If you expect Godai then it answers the biggest question no one asks-- who sent the text?

    • @PervertedNovaxc3
      @PervertedNovaxc3 Před 5 lety +21

      So hey, according to wayforward's Twitter it actually was Godai who sent the text. So you've got at least some ground in regards to him

    • @Oni_Manga_Land
      @Oni_Manga_Land Před 5 lety +6

      I think it's all pretty much loose canon, like Mario and Sonic.
      They'll make nods to the past and all, but they won't let it completely control the game.

    • @manuelmateo3392
      @manuelmateo3392 Před 4 lety

      I highly doubt they'll do anything more with this game.

    • @RoCKbOy245
      @RoCKbOy245 Před 4 lety +9

      The ending doesn’t need to be taken too seriously. The game is a spin-off to the Kunio-Kun series so it’s not taken place in the main timeline of the series.
      About the 4th wall, I’m not surprised by it if I’m being honest. In River City Ransom or Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, Yamada (Slick/Simon in RCR) told Kunio that he wanted to be the main character instead of him, hence his own title, Nekketsu Kouha Yamada-Kun.

    • @KingOfElectricNinjas
      @KingOfElectricNinjas Před 4 lety +11

      The ending is actually different in the Japanese version, where they can expect players to possibly be familiar with the Kunio-kun series, and even more meta given the boys do recognise the girls. (implying they're either two-timing their girlfriends or are confused by the ambiguous timeline)
      I think it works well as a goofy joke given all the characters involved are teenagers.

    SPOILERS HERE:
    Actually I have a weird theory. What if Hasebi & Mami are psychic & basically hypnotized Kunio & Riki into forgetting Kyoko & Misako were their girlfriends? That was kind of the vibe I was getting when I met them at the final level & what I was thinking when I saw the ending for 1st time after I beat Sabuko. So after getting the 2 charms to fight against & defeat H & M, I was expecting the true ending to be Kyoko & Misako forcing H & M to restore their boyfriends memories of them. But we just get a variation of the 1st ending. But that doesn’t stop me from thinking that Hasebi & Mami are psychic & still have control over the boys.

    • @BlueMageWithSoulEdge
      @BlueMageWithSoulEdge Před 5 lety +13

      Or maybe they briefly dated them and got dumped without them noticing, in other words (as shown in the ending) they "ghost" them hoping they would get the message.
      But they don't 'cause Kyoko only cares about her interest and will follow Masako indefinitely, and Masako may keep forgeting as she has a bad short term memory 'cause-- "well, I get hit in the head alot".

    • @elikeyscdx9067
      @elikeyscdx9067 Před 5 lety +3

      Hmm... So maybe Kunio & Riki R actually scared of the girls & R putting up this facade of not remembering them because they R afraid of the girls killing them 4 breaking up with them? (Didn’t go well 4 them.) Because the girls R psycho in a way since they smashed up the town looking all over for them? Sheesh... It seems this ending is really up to interpretation of the players to be honest.

      The reaction toward them is that of annoyance; not fear.
      You can't call them crazy 'cause they legit thought their loved ones were in danger.
      No one is crazy. The story is just silly. The game is (in truest terms) a homage of the Kunio seires. In the end they clear the air by showing the player that this is a NEW storyline. It is a Wayforward canon.
