How is the new version of this game? Only ever see stuff about this OG version.
czcams.com/video/ls7_KgXLkds/video.html
Can confirm: It's SO SO SO GOOD
Came to this vid because I'm from Kansas and heard there was a game about take cows there. My hometown is worth negative points. Forget House on a Haunted Hill, this is real board game Betrayal.
@@shortydancer the American Royal is on the Missouri side, but it’s very close to the border.
The first edition of this game makes no sense based on history (makes no sense to drive cattle to KC and then send them via train to Topeka, Wichita, and ultimately out West to California). The 2nd edition fixes this, as the trains go east instead of west.
You had me at cow deck building
CONSTANTLY afraid quinns is going to knock over his tea.
The fear is real!
Intentional TEATERING, damn you Quinns.
ALWAYS
I've now bought the game and had it for months and it's one of my favorites. I did get the uglier american edition that got rid of the brown border on the box, but other than that it's the same. So looking forward to playing the expansion when it comes out!
I had legit anxiety about that
"fun repellent paper" is my favourite SU&SD of all time
What amazes me is that it took someone from the UK to convince me to buy a game about herding cattle from Texas to Kansas City... and I live in Dallas Texas.
Oh...and you were right about the game...it's great. One of the best implementations of theme in a primarily Euro style of game.
Quinns: so funny, so competent, so creative. I'm so, so okay with him with being the board game ambassador of the internet. I would only dream of being able to do one of these videos.
And he uses words like taciturn.
Your tea cup sir, makes me shudder. It's like a horror show all on its own. Great review by the way
Teatering terror. Its haunting me, Quinns' hand gestures alone now make me uneasy.
Don't give him attention it's what he wants.
Just watched your reviews for the first time. Wanted to say how entertaining but also enlightening they were. Made a few tough decisions of which game to buy a lot easier! Thanks for the time and effort. :)
I subbed to this channel last week and watched all the reviews. This is my first review that I watched that is new. Thanks for the vids.
Paul's got everyone saying "Feast OF Odin"
Stumbled across your channel looking for a brief overview of how to play. Was met with an extremely entertaining and clearly explained video. Can't say enough good things about this! Looking forward to diving into your other videos. Thanks!
GWT is one of hubby & I's favorite games. It's fantastic, especially when the scores are only a couple points difference. Every point matters, every choice of stops matters. Our last game in my final move I was only 1 stop away from reaching Kansas City and making an extra delivery. Love this game! Highly recommend it!
Quinns keeps saying they're going to Kansas, but the train for hauling the cattle off was in Kansas City, Missouri.
Who cares. The end location is some American place.
Love your reviews. The mix or humor and focus of what makes a game great(or mundane) rather than getting lost in technicalities is rare and a great mix. Keep it up!
At 14:32 I was totally going wait seriously what the fuck THERE'S ANOTHER MAP ON THE OTHER SIDE AND I NEVER NOTIC... oh.
Well played, Quinns. Well played.
Cow-culated?
the number of SUSD reviews that end up with Quinns making out with himself is at least 2
do what you will with this knowledge
They probably all do, the just dont record it.
FreshmanThesis edd.☺😊🔚🔜😯q 😊 😊
I've been saying "nobody likes you" to board game components for years, and was delighted to hear Quinns use the same phrase.
I say that to the grey dice in cubitos
Wildly Fun and a Great Review! Thanks! Played this for the first time last week! Wish I had understood it better going in, but learned a lot... cant wait to play it again! I agree.. it's THAT GOOD!
"...my shareholders are going to kill me.......WITH PIPES!"
and of course: @ 5:21 "Let's talk about employeeees"
To be that guy, Kansas City (specifically the historic stockyards that warranted its nickname "Cowtown") is in Missouri, not Kansas. Easy mistake to make, even for a certain 45th President of the United States.
"Or just delivering the world's worst herd of cattle to Kansas City resembling radiators wearing coats." One of the absolute best lines of any SU&SD review! USDA prime humor!
GWT is in my top 10. I first learned it at a convention and it was the first game I've played where I began giggling every time it was my turn because I loved everything I was doing. hahaha...so fun.
Late reply I know, but could you tell me your other top games? :)
The 2nd edition of this game looks so much better.
I didn't even think I wanted this game... and then I watched this video. Now I own it, and it is probably my favorite game. I'm horrible at it, but I love it. Great review; great game.
Definitely one of the best board game reviews ever. Then again, I think that about all your videos.
This video was fantastic. Really the first video to get me actually interested in this game. I had a hard time getting past the cover art and theme. I'm going to have to check this out.
Every time I sit down with an Alexander Pfister game I come away surprised. Mombasa makes my head hurt but I can't stop playing it. Then I played this and fell in love all over again
8:39 NOBODY can resist a rosette, that's who.
10/10 video, 0/10 tea placement
15:27 A Feast *of* Odin.
Oh dear, Quinns, you've caught Paul's virus too. ;_:
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thinks the cover of this box is super unsettling. It sits right in the uncanny valley for me!
I never thought I'd hear Quinns' sultry voice say Kansas. My life is complete.
"Do you want to make out?" I was not expecting that, but I laughed very hard at it! 😂
I love the humor of SUSD. I am german and the end was great. Thank you.
And the "Feast of Odin" name curse continues.
It's the "Sex in the City" of board game names.
The "ALDI's" of board game names.
"J.C. Penney's"
What do you mean by that?
@@athora4271 shut up and sit down constantly say 'feast of Odin' instead of 'a feast for Odin'
The 2nd edition comes with little cowboy hats for the meeple, if that doesn't convince people to try this game nothing will.
I was having lunch with my girlfriend once at the Fantasy Flight Games Center and the manager was out sitting at one of the tables near us and he seemed liked he was doing paperwork and going through and looking at some game stuff and this one customer just walked up to him and asked him question after question about the game center and how things are running and other gaming stuff. This went on almost the whole time we ate lunch and I thought he would kind of get annoyed because he seemed very busy but he just calmly chatted with the guy and answered his questions and was in no way rude or acted agitated or annoyed at all. I respect him for focusing on the customer and trying make sure the customer was having a good time. Its a good place to go to and the food is pretty good.
As a Texan, I winced harder at you calling the cattle “cows” than I did when you called Coup coupe. Lol.
I love your reviews even so.....
Quinns! You, sir, are the best reviewer in this industry. Period.
Opening shot is amazing.
I just wanted to notice: at around 7:43, when you finish making snake noise and smile, you are the cutest you ever been in your videos.
Very amusing, well made, and informative - thanks!
Thank you for making me buy this game - love it!
Loving your reviews !
Almost spat my water when your face popped up in the opening scene
Picked up a copy of this game after this review. Looking forward to its arrival. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Ok now played it a couple times and love it. I have no idea of different strategies, I'm just mostly playing by the seat of my pants but still having fun. Thanks again for the review.
that tea is frighteningly close to the edge of the table
My gaming group just started playing harder games like dungeon pets and terraforming Mars, this is the new addition to the collection and I must say it has become our favorite game
The ending of that is the single most scary thing I've seen in a while.
The close up of Quinns at the start.......he looked exactly like Stewart Copeland of The Police in the early 80's..lol
This game is phenomenal. Complex in a totally fun way. Get sleeves for those cards..you will be playing a lot!
argh! Talking while waving hands over the cup of coffe at 10:30 was driving me mad!! No eating or drinking at the gaming table!! Aaaaarrgghh.... (runs away pulling out his hair)
Love it!
Thanks so much! Can you please make your next game about running a national park
I'll try to... :-)
Your opinion is biased, Mister Pfister.
Saw tales from the loop in the background. Hope this gets a review soon 😁
Do they review RPGs?
You need more shelves. Other than that, great review and run through. I keep picking this one up in the store, looking at it, thinking "my group will be daunted" and putting it back on the shelf. Seems like a cherry on a cow... O_o
This may be your finest video yet
3:16 = You don't [immediately] draw a card when selling/discarding. [ Phase C) Draw up to your hand limit.]
Yes
Loving your hair tan lines at the end.
Everyone of your guys reviews reminds me of Shogun and how I can't find one in my area.
Paul has convinced Quinns what the incorrect name for AFfO is. :)
Uggghhh, I've been resisting this game and already own Feast (which is fantastic), but this review is pushing me back toward the GWT hype train.
But which one?!? "Feast FOR Odin", or Feast OF Odin", because there is apparently two, according to Paul and Quinns.
"cowboy magic" -Quinns
SU&SD - My new Flight of the Conchords, but in boardgame review mode.
Whoa. Unexpected self-cest at the end there.
Ze end was very funny. Gotta love ze german accent. Also - great review!! Love this game! Love from Sweden
I'm not one for long games (over 40 minutes..), ut this game is on my list for someday. Defiantly looks great!
This sounds like an exciting version of brass
That definition belongs to Brass
Is closing scene a reference to a playtesting video series? would watch that.
Seems like the 'steaks' are high and that long gaming sessions might give us 'Raw hides'. We'll just have to buy it if we're to avoid developing mad cow disease or becoming part of 'The Wild Bunch'. Thanks for the gaming BBQ. Brilliant job Quinns'!
Damn that firewatch poster is nice
Dammit, why are there so many good board games, but not enough money for me to buy them all?
The Number Udder needs to go on a t-shirt.
This looks like a lot of fun.
You're wrong, you know. Cowboy Magic is real. It's hair products for horses.
This was a gorgeous review. Is it single? Because I know a handsome man who would love to take it on a candlelight dinner before settling down and eventually creating a whole family of nightmarish video-human hybrids who cannot exist outside of their own feverish hellscapes of imaginations.
Let me know if you're interested.
Very well done review
I’m trying to decide between this, Clans of Caledonia, and Terra Mystica
Great video. My wife says your tea mug is beautiful. Where'd you get it?
I dont know why this review is so awesome, but I have watched this one over 10 times now. And I listen actively
I know they don't like Terraforming Mars and like this better, but now I like both! Thanks!
*I WANT A ROSETTE!*
Quinns had to work so hard not to laugh after the hiss at 7:41.
Ha, you called it Feast of Odin!
Just when you think you have Quinn figured out, he busts out a Sade reference
Quinns, omg why are you so good at selling me boardgames, even though I don't even have space for them anymore...
i'd like to nominate "glittering cow fantasy" for a pulitzer prize please.
complete with cow deck building.
"Film me like one of your French Quinns"
So, let's say I accidentally bought a German-language copy and didn't realize it until right after it shipped...would this game still be playable if I don't speak a word of German? Rulebook aside, it looks like the only real text is on the cards, which have pictures anyways.
You'll be fine, it's all icons
@@shutupandsitdown Perfect, thank you very much! Wonderful review as always
12:17 Quinns is a force user
Hm, A Feast of Odin - was it a hint towards Paul's problems in remembering the name correctly or did you have the same difficulties, Quinns? :D
Anyways, GWT looks great, I hope I'll be able to play it someday.
they're ALL good cows, quinns.
**SWEETEST TABOO KLAXON**
What’s the URL for that user rating list at 15.32?
How many takes did Leigh need for the perfect tackleglomp?
You guys rock!! Will you guys be at SPIEL this year?
It came out at Spiel last year. It is a bit low in supply at the moment, but should be in bountiful supply by then.
I meant the SU&SD guys, but thanx for the info! :)
Sorry, I read this as "will it" for some reason.
I came here from the Terraforming Mars video.
I do have a question, on the american box it says it's #7 in this great designer series? What is that all about?
A naming that Stronghold uses for a series of games, one per designer that Steven Buonocore really likes.
That's just the line of games the American publisher Stronghold Games decided to put this game in (which e.g. includes Porta Nigra, Kraftwagen, Cottage Garden and more). According to the BGG entry '"The Great Designer Series" from Stronghold Games highlights games from the best game designers in the world.'
