Female vocals don't get any more sultry & seductive than Kat Cunning's. I was hooked on her voice from the first time that I heard "King Of Shadow", which IMO, is one of the most Sapphically erotic songs ever written. As to what I like best about this video, aside from the song and the exquisite cinematography, it's the outrageous blasphemy. Real strong "Like A Prayer" vibes. On steroids. For example, I interpreted the scene @ around 1:10 as being just short of pure sacrilege in that it seemed to be making a lesbian BDSM mockery of Michelangelo's "Pieta", as did the scenes in the church. (I am not a fan of organized religion bc all of them are designed in large part to subjugate women, so I always appreciate artists who dare to flip off faith in defiance. 🖕). I could have lived w/o the creepy presence of the figure at the end who seemed to be male. To me, men sap the sensuality out of sexuality. Finally, I hate to publicly demonstrate my ignorance, but what in the hell is that thing hanging from the bedroom lampshade? It looks very phallic. 😏🤔
