An oldie but a goodie!!! This is gold. Easy to do. Easy to remember. Easy to repeat.

I need this! I’m a near scratch player, but some days my “strike” is off. I’m sorta noodle legged, like Jim Furyk, and it’s definitely caused from too much lateral sway. There are 3 forces in the golf swing. Lateral, rotational, and vertical. I need to add more rotational, and vertical. Great video, guys.

Just tried this at the indoor range with launch monitors I go to. IT WORKS! I am 82 so rotation of the hips is always a problem. But I did this drill with a 52 degree wedge, 7 iron and driver. Five times with feet together, then with normal stance. It was crazy! I could turn fully, shots went right down the middle, and with no special effort the ball went 75%, even 85% as far as with a full swing. It made me take a narrower stance on full swings and that also helped and improved my shots. That’s the thing about golf, you can always learn even after playing for over 60 years. Thanks for this.

Sensational! Love to hear it John. You are absolutely right, it's a hell of a game. Thanks for sharing.

@@kerrodgraygolf but a word of caution. If on the course you begin to lose focus and because you are intent on looking at the ball you begin to swing your arms back but don’t turn your shoulders and hips back along with the arms, and then make a downswing where your arms move more than your body rotates, you will start hitting low hooks. And if you have forgotten to swing your lead shoulder down and your arms up, you will be turning your shoulders horizontally and your swing plane will be too flat, causing you to hit the ball thin or top it, especially with fairway woods.

Interesting to hear what Simon Dyson spent a lot of time working on, and why. Thanks for sharing! If I recall correctly that feet together drill was one of Bobby Jones favorite drills as well.

My coach had me do this for tempo and to understand where the weight of the club head was throughout the swing but I also noticed better low point control as a result. I would get more blocks and hooks before this too. Great drill.

Its a great one, and worth revisiting every once in a while to keep you in sync. Thanks for sharing Daniel 👍

I’m gonna give this a go I’ve worked hard not to sway so much near scratch never thought to try this I’m guessing it can help with tempo as well

They need to define what a slide is and what is weight transfer. And also some people rotate their left leg, some centred and some right leg. We are all different.

I’m a high handicap player and I do this all the time. However, I don’t understand why I hit better like this. With my feet together I know exactly the distance I’m going to hit and where it’s going. As soon as I try a normal swing I regress and play like the high handicapper I am:(
Next time I’m on the range though, I’m going to try the 5/1 drill and see if whatever I’m doing right can stick with the normal swing.

I think you're on the right track. Maybe you are swaying off the ball when you take a regular stance? Definitely try the 5/1, it's gold.
