Thank you from Italy, I just did the work at my Alfa 156 year 2004.

I always tap the bolt with a light hammer ,that will shift the rust and make it easier to remove.

REALLY helps if you have an electric impact for this job too. I ended up using mine to spin the lower pinch bolt whilst holding a wire brush against it through the knuckle, and spraying it with WD40 until it was loose enough to slide out. Pig of a job but with patience and preparation it can be done on the driveway.

Completely agree. I used a wire brush attachment on my Dremel to get in there and really strip away the rust. I soaked in PlusGas first though for a couple of hours. The difference was obvious as when I did the other side I tried it with only PlusGas and no sanding and the bolt was so seized it snapped. Luckily, once I had completely stripped it down I was able to use a lump hammer and a few choice words and just knock the snapped part out, which added about 15 minutes to the job.

Thanks for posting. If like me you have a 156 Sportwagon you'll need to do more trim panel removal in the boot - and mine did not have a pre-cut flap on the carpet, so that will need releasing, too.

I would buy a replacement pinch bolt as they are known to snap when removing them. I have an old ebay link to them somewhere, I'll dig it out and post it up for you. Good luck Ahmet.

@@youtubeshowedmehow7546 thank you. all these parts are getting more and more expensive 😂 so just to confirm I need 2 rear shocks, 2 springs, 2 of the pinch bolts you linked and nothing else? I have all the tools so that's not a problem I just want to make sure I have all the parts.

@@youtubeshowedmehow7546 hi again I found this seller on ebay with all the parts I need. It says his parts are for the 156 but I think they share the same parts as the 147 right? Could you double check for me if they're correct you can find what he's selling on this link ebay.co.uk/usr/davbro.ufa72c
