Yo I just found out why I am such a fan Rem's character.
It is because she is one of the few characters that is both sweet in personality, but also transparent/direct with how they feel without being assertive. I really respect this kind of character.
Agreed. Also because she doesnt really remind you of the generic girl protagonist most animes tend to have, but instead looks very much different (in a good way) and evolves very, very much throughout the first season.
What really get's my about REM is that she didn't hide a single feeling from her heart when she talks to Subaru. This is so different from the real japanese person. Being direct about your feelings when you love somebody is what what REM does with Subaru. That is why I like her. She not only admires and loves the guy, she makes him sure of what she feels for him.
The amount she changed from the beginning of the series to now is extraordinary. Amazing character development.
She was doing quite the grind then! It was interesting to watch in her memories. We wonder, could we become the best character if we somehow rapidly change our entire self?

Rem's character came on so strong in season 1 that she relegated the 'de facto' heroine Emilia to 2nd fiddle. It is something rarely accomplished and her reward was to not appear in season 2 as they had to re-establish Emilia's heroine dominance *somehow*

9:39 when this scene happened I was Screaming Like Crazy i was like YAAAEESSSSS!!!!! And with the music building up and climaxing and going big and the camera movement to added to that Amazing Big Moment and how Rem referenced the name of their anime all of it combined and made me scream my heart out.

My favorite moment isn't in this. My favorite moment is after when Rem tells him all things she knows and loves about him, he says, "All those things were fake. I should know. I know myself better than anyone." And she says, "That's not true! All you know is yourself. What do you know about the Subaru that I see? The one I was just telling you about?" It made me realize that there's more to a person then just their own self image. Something I never really considered. I love this Character so much I can't even talk about her without getting choked up.
It's actually supposed to tell you that the version of Subaru that exists and the one that rem sees aren't the same, I like rem but don't act as if she doesn't idolise Subaru to a creepy extent.

this anime has touched something inside me that even I didn't know was there, I feel so happy that I gave anime in general the chance
i relate a lot with subaru, feeling pathetic because i'm not able to do much by myself, i'm not terribly smart (and i seem to be very forgetful), and i don't know what i'm doing most of the time. i know how to speak from my heart, but am often too scared to in fear of being judged or rejected, and so i just won't bother most of the time.
i also relate a lot with rem, how one can be isolated from everyone else just because they are different from people in one way or another. i especially resonate with her analogy of 'stopped time', i feel as though my time has been stopped for a long time. i have no way of starting it again as far as i'm aware.
this show made me realize these things about myself, and honestly all i can say is i'm excited for the day that i can find a way (or someone) to help me start my stopped time again. i have a lot to give, and nobody to give it to. but i know that there is hope out there. just gotta know where to look
